For people wondering about the Fire HD7, my wife got one last year, which is the model they're going to be selling. If you don't go in expect an iPad, you won't be disappointed. It's not slow, it loads everything pretty well but it's also incredibly limited. The browser is pretty quick, but doesn't scroll as smoothly as Safari on iOS does. The app store that Amazon restricts you too is very limited, so check it before you buy a Fire and make sure it has what you want. It's a great little second screen device to use while you're watching TV or killing time. It's also really great for handheld gaming. IMO though the 6 inch tablet is a better, more portable, size, and it's got a better PPI than the 7 and runs just as well.

You could always flash it too and have a really cheap but well made Android tablet. I flashed my OG Kindle Fire. Worked great, still does but I rarely if iever use it.
