Jesus, the replies in this thread...you are ok with people being victims of identity theft just because they are in stale, boring relationships and want a bit of excitement in their lives?

Uhhh... yeah. Didn't really think about it that way, but I totally am. If you don't love her maquiladora let her go.

I wonder how many of them rationalize it just like this even when they give their partner an STD

Are you then perhaps ok with people being victims of infidelity and spouses who lead double lives and systematically lie to their wives/husbands just because they are bored? They can get their fucking excitement some other way than at the expense of their spouses. Being single is a real option. Identity theft is not right but yeah, I find myself being more or less ok with this. I hope they sweat bullets.

People on GAF cheerleading identity theft.

Yall should just take the next step and be the ones doing it if you're so passionate about policing people's morals.

We don't have to because someone just did it. This is like someone getting spyware from a child porn site. I think it is awesome that I can just point and laugh.

People cheating are scumbags. People hacking websites and stealing data are scumbags. Both shouldn't be encouraged, but only one is actually illegal.

So if people pay to fully delete their account and a hacker steals their information proving that nothing was actually deleted on the back end, isn't that grounds for a pretty major class action lawsuit?

True, but the context does matter. You might say that it does not because it's still illegal and you would be absolutely right which is why I wouldn't take "the next step". Hell even if doing this were not illegal I wouldn't do anything because I'm not THAT invested in other people's affairs. The thread was made here though and I commented but that's the extent of my interest towards the subject.

It's kind of like when people cheer for a vigilante. It's wrong legally and not the right way to go about things and most people wouldn't do that themselves but sit in silent acceptance or nonchalancy when someone does.

I'm not gonna go yell "FUCK YEAH now do more sites like this!". I think it's more of a case of "Identity theft? Who are the victims? Date site users for cheaters? Well I hate cheaters so I can't really mount up much sympathy for them".

Yes.

Of course it can be reason for divorce and certain payments that come with that, but the police won't be throwing you in jail.

Of course, I was more talking towards the marriage contract than going to jail or not

spyware is mostly used to steal personal data y'know

First of all, having your wallet stolen could be considered stealing personal data. So throwing out the word spyware after a deliberate attack like this is pretty ridiculous.

Secondly, despite any semantics, it's pathetic to support ANY amount of theft.

If you're against cheating like the majority of people, fantastic. You're actually a good person. But you don't get a medal for condoning crimes against people who do it.

Does Batman go around beating the fuck out of people who screw around on their wives?

As someone who has been a victim of infidelity, yea I have a hard time caring about these people.

You're right, spyware is worse because it is less directed.

I feel no pity for cheaters, the emotional harm and trauma they cause their partner is terrible, they deserve what happens to them.

I think there are plenty of valid reasons to have an affair. It is also a terrible thing to do to yourself, your partner and even the one you are having an affair with. Sometimes the reason people cheat is because their partner causes them emotional harm and trauma and they need an escape.

Identity theft is wrong even it is against someone you don't like.

So it's okay for someone to pay to cheat instead of getting a divorce or breaking up with said person, but we should care about heir personal information as a result? Hells no.

Sounds like karma to me. This isn't identity theft for buying stuff on Amazon. This is compromising millions who clearly couldn't compromise in their shitty relationships to be honest.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

But, when navigating the internet it should always be assumed that everything you put in will be public knowledge eventually. Your grandchildren, boss and 2nd wife will see the drunken party pictures of your youth.

Unless they claimed they retain their data in the small-print, yeah. And people will probably pursue that if they can.

Fun fact, this site in high school is why my parents are divorced. Wonder how far back it goes, maybe I should let my dad know lol

The idea of wanting to out cheaters, even to the point of committing criminal activity, is shit.

The consequences of their actions will manifest in their own lives. But cheating isn't a criminal activity, and hacking into a website to use private information as blackmail most certainly is.

Interesting to see how ethical disagreements make it okay for people to have their private information stolen. It's none of our business what people do in their private lives, especially since it's not criminal.

Keep in mind I hate cheating.

My thoughts exactly. Well said.

In this thread I've learned that people aren't entitled to the basic human right of privacy if they do not adhere to the societal code of GAF.

Harsh.

This. How many people in this thread would support the user database of a closeted homosexual online community being released?

This is where I fall on this as well.

As despicable an act I may find cheating, it's not my place to police how people conduct themselves in their bedrooms. And its certainly not the place of these hackers either.

Lot of assumptions being made in this thread.

Site 'specializes' in helping people cheat in their spouses. Specializes. Not requires. Which means as there are an unknown amount of people who use this site who are a) single, b) married but have the ok form their spouse to be there, or c) signed up once fully intending to cheat, sent a few messages out, came to their damn senses before meeting anyone and deleted their account ( except not really apparently) and never looked back. Lets say 70% of the site were actually scum sucking cheaters. What's 30% of 37 million? Hell lets say 90% were cheaters and the other ten fell into the exceptions I gave. Did they 'deserve' to have their personal details stolen? Or are they just acceptable losses to the GAF High Horse Calvary?
