Oh, apparently I own Flame Over. Went looking for an answer, and a found this.

Not sure if any of you have been following the DLC related discussion on the Steam forum. But this announcement was made over there:

"Regarding recent comments about the mention of bonus DLC in Way Of The Samurai 4’s product description, we’re happy to offer the following explanation:

Our original plan was to launch the game with a 40% Pre-Purchase discount along with bonus DLC, after which we planned to apply a 20% discount to the game during its first week of release. However, we later decided it would be better value to keep the 40% Pre-Purchase discount but then apply a 20% discount to both the game and all DLC during the release week instead. Unfortunately the original game description wasn’t updated to reflect this.

As a way of making amends, anyone that has purchased Way of the Samurai in the last two weeks will automatically receive a free copy of
Flame Over in the their Steam library. Additionally, we are also extending the 20% discount for one more week.

Thanks again for all your feedback and support – it’s hugely appreciated by everyone here :)"

Which should explain why you now have Flame Over, if you didn't already have it.

Neat.

Gamestop has Geometry Wars 3 Steam code for $3.75

http://m.gamestop.com/catalog/product/118885#details

Lowest price I've seen.

Will get it on PS4. Maybe Steam sale later.

Apparently can't hold a constant framerate, which would be a huge problem in a game like that.

I want to get back into Don't Starve, but there is always something new around the corner.

Flamer Over is good, really good. Just don't expect something casual.

And shit, card prices already tanked, some were superrare before.

Oh yeah, flying games of course. I was somehow thinking of FPS games.

I invert everything because when I used to play CoD, I used legacy south paw. It stuck ever since. If a game lacks the option for invert, I change the controls myself, now.

I tried going back but it all just leads to death.

Rocket league looks like the perfect BTA-Bundle-Tier-Game to me.
That is a compliment to clarify.

people aren't messing around when they're saying it's GOTY material. and with +500k sold on PC and counting, that's not happening for a while.

That you can show some restraint is cool, though. I got it for free through PS+ but have almost bitten on getting the PC version just for a solid 60 fps.

But anime adaptations of VNs tend to be awful and not at all a good representation of what the VN is. Good anime adaptations are the exception, not the norm.

Didn't you state yesterday that you didn't watch any anime yet, Mr. Jazz? How would you know that the adaptions are awful for the most part?

It's true though.

Had to google what this means.

Your compliment is nice, thanks but it's not really restraint more like willingly not watching too much media of RL in fear of wanting it too much, haha.
Is it really that good? I mean, there's always games here getting extreme love but after a while and checking some of those out, I just realized there is quite a bit hyperbole. Good to hear you have that much fun with it though.

Hey SteamGAF, I was wondering: any of you uses the invert y axis setting in first person shooters?

My friend does and it really pisses me off.

Say we're taking turns on a multiplayer FPS game at my house, every swap requires going into settings and changing invert axis back.

I point up and left because I want to look up and left. Simple stuff. Not down and right.

before it launched, it was either grief or corrosive who confirmed for me that it was just Car Soccer. I laughed, i don't care for either thing and there's no way this dumb game could be any fun.

then hats were confirmed. And i knew i could just try it out for free on PS+ so i didnt see the harm in it.

I played it for 5 hours straight and had to pull myself away from it to do simple things like eat and sleep. It's a great game, good with randoms but even better with a team of folks who are coordinating their efforts. It's simple on the surface but has a surprising amount of depth to it. Just so good

Well, when you hang out in the VN community, you tend to pick up these things. That's just what I've heard from people. I'm generally more interested in the source material when it comes to, well just about anything, from books to games to movies.

What screws me up is older Japanese games where the default camera x-axis is inverted... especially when there's no option to invert the x-axis at all. Spend the whole time playing rotating the camera the wrong way.

Even FF13 has inverted X-axis with no way of changing it.

For mouse? No. Controllers? Always, only way to play.

This man knows what's up.

For shooters as well? Now that I find a very unique playstyle.

It's not that unique. It's actually quite common, which is why basically every game has the option to invert y axis. It's just not as common as default controls.

Personally, it just feels right to me. When console shooters started using the dual stick control scheme, it took a while to adjust. Once I switched to inverted controls, it just clicked, and I've stuck with it ever since.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
So it's been about 1 week since the latest version of Enhanced Steam went live that included the crowd-sourced surveys on each game's store page on Steam. I thought some people here might be interested in the data that was gathered in the first week, so here goes.

Overall, there have been 1,060 survey responses from a total of 728 users for 320 different games. A very solid first week! Here are a few breakdowns I thought might be interesting:

There are a few numbers here that stand out to me:
  • I thought the number of "Fixed at 30fps or less" would be much higher, especially in the wake of the recent TotalBiscuit FPS Police drama. Obviously this only covers about 10% of the games currently on Steam, but I still expected TB and his followers to rush in and fill out a bunch of surveys for games locked at 30fps or lower. Maybe not enough time has passed to really get an accurate reading on this.
  • 20% of people who responded had a monitor resolution less than 1920x1080, or a non-widescreen resolution. I guess it's not too surprising though, considering in the Steam Hardware Survey results, almost 27% of people were rocking 1366 x 768. Most likely this number includes most laptop users.
  • Only 11% reported that they weren't happy with the game's performance. This means that, given the sample size we have available, people are mostly happy with the overall performance of PC games. Since a lot of people usually only fill things like this out to complain, we would expect to see these numbers flipped. The fact that so high a percentage are reporting having a good experience with various game's performance is a really good thing.
  • Although it's not graphed above, about 8% of people reported that the particular game they were answering for did not have built-in graphics options. Obviously that's a huge red flag when it comes to evaluating a particular game's performance capabilities if the developer doesn't care enough to include an in-game menu.
Obviously as more data becomes available, the more insights we'll be able to draw from that data. And of course, it will also help keep shoppers informed of things they (hopefully) will want to know about before purchasing a game.

If you haven't already, I would encourage everyone reading this to log in to Steam using Enhanced Steam and fill out at least one performance survey for the last game you've played. Thanks again to everyone who is contributing!

I used to annoy my friends like that when we took turns playing Modern Warfare at university. I was the only one who used inverse aim. I was proud :p

We should get some SteamGaf PS+ Rocket League games going, at least until cross-play works.

Hey SteamGAF, I was wondering: any of you uses the invert y axis setting in first person shooters?

Allways, in every genre, Y camera also needs to be inverted. No clue why, my brain just can't make sense of it the other way. It's the same with my brother...

Man, I am really surprised that so many play y-inverted in non-flight games. Like you said, I always see the setting but I thought it has to be a very small minority and just being easy to add for devs they put it in but I am slowly rethinking my opinions.
I remember when I first tried a modern gamepad - one with dualsticks. Some little kids of relatives brought a 360 to play MW splitscreen. I watched them a bit play and they wanted me to play with them. Boy did I suck with dualsticks. It was so hard to get to gripes with looking and moving and all the shoulder buttons and face buttons. Boy, I felt like a gramps when they laughed at me spasming out in the game, haha. Now it feels really good to play with a controller.

Legacy itself seems very different. Which games or in which time period was that the standard?

Some Rockstar games. Call of Duty. Halo. Latter two still have them to this day, so it's not defunct. I used it for Bioshock Infinite on PC, as well.

It's not really the standard at all, but it's more comfortable if you're left handed or you just kind of grew into that set. Some people go as far as to have their controllers rewired because some games don't offer the option.

Goldeneye / Perfect Dark. With the C buttons instead of a right analog, obviously.

I don't use legacy myself, but I do have to invert Y-axis if I'm playing with a controller. I trace this back to one of (if not the first?) 3D games I played with a controller: StarFox. It just felt wrong otherwise.

A lot of modern non-Japanese games do this too. All games should have options for both X and Y axis.

(I kinda wish Atlus would remaster Nocturne. Not because it's old or the graphics/etc, but because you rotate the camera with L1/R1.)

What caused it for me was an N64 game, where the controls for the stick were permanently inverted and you couldn't change it. I want to say it was the original Turok, but I can't remember for certain. All I remember is after hours upon hours of playing like that, it stuck and now I can't manage not having the y axis inverted on games I play.
