Resident Evil 2 Remake pitched today

RE3 is definitely one of the least liked of the classic RE games alongside RE0. However, the people that like those games REALLY like them.

I absolutely adore RE3, just as much as 2 tbh. It was one of those rare games where I got every ending and got the game down so well I could speedrun it really really quickly. Couldn't do it now as memory/reactions are shite but great game. Would love a remake of that too but would want it to retain its action focus. RE2 of course shouldn't play like that.

Contrary to the general opinion, I would love to have the remake be RE4-style, similar to how that fan project looked, except with a real budget. If they do end up making it like REmake though, I hope it keeps the non-tank control scheme from the original RE2.

I wonder if they'll make the scenarios better differentiated this time around, and have them make more sense chronologically.

Would be a missed opportunity otherwise.

I wonder how they'll deal with the whole scenario business period actually.

I will be so friggin angry if (read: when) they announce it as an modern action RE. REmake 2 is my most wanted remake of all time (way above something like FF7 for example) and once they fuck it up there won't be a second chance.

The original REmake is considered the best remake ever made for a reason. Don't fix what is not broken. That is all.

edit: Also this is not surprising at all when considering the sales of REmake HD and the reaction to FF7 at this E3. RE2 is probably the second most requested remake in the industry and when they look at the 10+ million hits on announcement trailer of FF7R within weeks they know they are sitting on gold.

Genius. Post that you're pitching it to management so if they turn it down the fan backlash is insane. Almost guaranteed to get the project funded.

I don't think I'm ready to live in a world where the super-big budget FFVII Remake, Shenmue 3, The Last Guardian, and a REmake2 could all be happening- and all coming within 3 years. Body can't handle.

All that's missing is a new Suikoden from Konami & Sony snatching up the Silent Hill IP and getting Toyama to make a new game. o_O

They need to do it exactly like REmake, no compromises. If they get rid of the static camera angles then it will no longer be Resident Evil 2. They should be making this remake for players who love the original game, not those who hate it. REmake turned out fantastic because the developers chose to build on the original game instead of reinventing it.

Static camera angles allow the developer to choose what the player sees. This is very important for a Survival Horror game and allows for some interesting cinematography.

Are you guys aware that a successful RE2 Remake could undo the fucking horrible decision from Mikami to go Nintendo exclusive all those years ago? You know, the one that destroyed classic RE? I'm sure a success would make them new classic RE again. Perhaps as a spinoff series in addition to the action oriented main line?

I'm getting teary eyes.

Please make this happen. It has to happen.

If REmake 2 will be classic style that is.

Hell yes. I'm sure he learned a great deal more about the classic RE game design after producing REmake HD. That and RE2 are perfect blueprints so as long as he doesn't deviate too much I'm sure he could do a great job with REmake 2.

holy fucking shit

so this is really happening, huh

well, good luck to them. they're going to need it without kamiya or mikami. I hope this turns out well, as RE2 is one of my favorite games of all time. A remake that can stand alongside REmake would be a dream come true, honestly.

RE4 was great I'm just not sure why they had to throw the baby out with the bathwater in order to have better controls/gameplay. You can have better gameplay with puzzles and without broheim action, not to mention the sting is still there from UMBRELLA WAS KILLED BY THE STOCK MARKET after like three games ending with "it's time to take out Umbrella!"

Fuck that shit. Fuck all of it.

For sure. Hell it's probably already well into development as we speak.

Well, thinking about they just randomly ask fan opinion couple of days ago. Got overwhelm by fan response. Then now show that the project is already start (in some form). It's a little bit too fast and too good. Considering how conservative japanese management is.

I have a feeling that the game might already been in development for sometime. And this post is just used to engage the interest...

God, I hope we get this so, so bad. But those awful memories of what happened to Mega Man Legends 3 still haunt me to this day...thankfully Biohazard/RE is a brand that is always important to Capcom. Fingers and toes crossed for this one!

lol, I actually love that shit!
It's like Capone going down because of tax evasion. :p

I would have just had that be a red herring and then later in the game you find out that Umbrella had lost their minds and partnered with Salazar and monk dude to continue studies and development at that big ass castle or whatever after they discovered Las Plagas, and drew Leon there to test out their new shit against him with the intent of killing him. Instead it was just too fargone and segregated from the story I had been following for years.

It's funny though and the game was great so I guess that's all that matters.

I agree with this. Or at the very least that this wasn't the "first" pitch.

Now this is PURE conjecture, but I get the feeling that it's been talked about for a while but now, maybe, leveraging off of HD REmake's popularity plus this, could be a second pitch saying "Look at all this interest! LOOK AT IT"

Then again, other than the people who work at Capcom, who goddamn knows.

Even if this is a marketing stunt, it's still really strange how this all played out on their FB page.
I actually really like it. It's different.
