Mighty No. 9 Officially delayed - No new date, "aiming for Q1 2016"

We still need to see it in a direct feed video. It looks good from that distance, I agree.

Also, MN9, since DAY 1, was confirmed as 2.5D game.
Where exactly did they state that from day one?

Being 2.5D isn't the problem anyways. 2.5D games can look attractive. The problem is the game is flat out unattractive.

The bad graphics are because they tried to make a game that can scale from 3DS to PS4.

They probably could have covered it up with nice art, but they didn't, so

Wow. I'm so glad I pulled my support right before it ended. I just got a bad vibe toward the end of the kickstarter for it. Shame too.

And this is why I will never kickstart anything, If I give someone money, speically a lot of it, I better have the product in my hand. That's pretty much that.

Welp, I guess that's that.

Not worth the weeks of wondering if it was true or false, but man, they took too long to give us a straight answer.

So yeah, I guess we'll see how things go once everything's fixed up and ready to go next year.

You do know that the point of kickstarter is that the pledges help the thing being kickstarted get made, right?

Not to mention using this one Kickstarter to throw the entire platform under the bus is stupid. Some great stuff has come out of it in a timely, transparent and worthy manner.

Yeah, sorry, not saying it helps fund great games, I'm just the type of person if I pay for something, I want it as soon as I pay for it.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I dunno but ever since 2010, Keiji Inafune became well... Questionable.

Somehow even this announcement is met with shady practices. Didn't they just state a few days ago that the delays were false rumors?

No one likes delays, but broken games are much worse. So ultimately, as a backer, I'm okay with this.

Kickstarter gave me Shovel Knight and Pillers of Eternity. Problem definitely lies with how Inafune handles it, the kickstarter platform is great. So many great projects to look forward to also!

I think this is the first time I've legitimately had Backer's Remorse with a Kickstarter. I guess they can't all be winners. This alone wouldn't be bad, but combined with all the Red Ash bullshit I've just become completely soured on everyone involved with the project.

I don't think I'll be backing Inafune and Comcept projects again until they prove they can actually put something successful out and it's not shady as fuck.

Seriously, they should have waited until MN9 shipped and was in people's hands before even trying anything with Red Ash, especially with this delay.

The complete 180 in people's opinions about Inafune from 2013 to 2015 is impressive.

So the game wouldn't be delayed if not for the online stretch goals is what I'm understanding from the posts here.

One major thing is that, in 2012, Inafune was correct about the decline of the Japanese game industry and how the west is rising.

Then he just sort of made a Monster Hunter clone, rehashes of all his old titles, and he didn't really come off as a visionary of the game industry. He was an old man looking through his war photos.

Bear in mind that while he was making a Monster Hunter clone and rehashes, Capcom gave us X-Over (and Megaman Legacy) while Konami just plain imploded.

His stuff might not be very creative by reasonable standards, but we're not talking about reasonable standards. The big Japanese companies are fighting over who gets to lower the bar more.

Is anyone even surprised at this point

There were dark signs popping up about this project very early on

You know, I think it's time people stopped treating Xover like it's the literal spawn of satan. I mean, it was made in a time period when Capcom was losing a lot of talent, and when Inafune had basically torched the franchise on its way out. It was an inoffensive mobile game that, judging by word from people who actually played it, improved significantly.

and we'll never know for sure here in the West because fan complaining made them not release it here.

Given that the online race and co-op modes are two of the things I'm most looking forward to, I can live with a delay if it means they work properly at launch.

Considering they can't even commit to a new release date at this point, I guess we all know why they didn't just "wait for MN9 to come out" before launching that Red Ash kickstarter. Lol. :p
Yeah, now everything makes sense lol. They wanted to get it funded before announcing MN9 being delayed.

Judging from the gameplay vids, the version that was "improved significantly" was still worth being treated like the literal spawn of satan.

Deep Silver was telling retailers about the delay three weeks ago in the middle of the Red Ash Kickstarter.

They outright denied it (but only on the backer-locked forums) and then stayed quiet for every question after that. Then another post was made (again on the backer-locked forums) where they specifically said they were too busy with Red Ash to announce it and chose to wait until Gamescom.

So it's less that I'm quick to judge and more that I have paid attention.

I obviously should have figured this would happen, but my post is being misconstrued as "MN9 team says they are too busy with Red Ash" when I am not even an official member of the team. As one of the few English speakers at comcept, I help out when needed on small tasks and community stuff but that's about it when it comes to MN9.

The first part of the screencap with me apologizing for the silence is because I was introduced as as new comcept producer about a week or so before the Red Ash campaign started in one of the MN9 updates. However, I have been completely inactive on the forums since joining comcept. I am talking about my own personal silence. It's been brought up in a few threads about the surveys and such and I just recently noticed.
The picture everyone is quoting is my first actual post in the forums, if I am not mistaken...

The reason that the producer on MN9 first denied the rumors on the forums is because their team was still working towards a September 15/18 release date. So yes, they were still rumors at that point. When the game is planned for so many platforms all it takes is one failed certification and everything goes out the window.

Don't see the big deal. Video game release gets delayed. That's never happened before!

Better that a buggy unfinished game.

I'm not bothered by the delay so much as I'm bothered by the way this game has been handled. Last week they went on about how the 2016 delay was false, only to confirm a time period in 2016 today. Why not tell us last week? Because we can only say it during Gamescom... I just want this project to end so I can get off this wild ride

How about telling this us upfront instead of doing it now after the Red Ash thing instead of mostly radio silence and a reassurance that looks like a malicious lie now. How about listing it as a reason in the update post which only speaks about vague bugs and stuff.
Delays are ok but not how this went in the context of Red Ash.
This at best just makes you guys look unacceptably incompetent at worst it makes you look even more shady and scummy. As a backer of M9 I've grown more skeptical as time went on but I was happy to be patient.

This move has made you lose my trust(not that it seems to mean anything to comcept). This is unacceptable. I really wish I could somehow get my money pledge back. Urgh.... I'm just feeling mad, betrayed and disappointed.
Lesson learned.

Wow, I remember when this campaign first started and so many media and people were proclaiming to be one of the best kickstarters ever (whatever that means).

And to go from that to now, what a turnaround.

The biggest issue has obviously been the lack of good transparency. People appreciate honesty and it sounds like this team just has not delivered on that note. I don't know if its because it is a Japan developer and whomever they got to manage PR really sucks at it or something. Or if it is that Inafune really isn't a good developer or communicator after all.

The thing I look for in kickstarters is if it is a "Labor of Love" for the developers, which usually means they've taken their own time and funds to start something and are clearly very devoted to the goal and have a solid idea of how it should work out. Maybe it is hindsight, but I'm not sure I got that vibe from this campaign.

To me, the Mighty No. 9 kickstarter felt more like capitalizing on consumer dissatisfaction over the handling of Mega Man by Capcom and trying to cash in on the want for such a game. I never got the idea that Inafune was really truly devoted to the project and the fact that they showed nothing in their kickstarter pitch aside from concept art (which they never even matched in-game) was a red flag for me. But it seemed many ignored the lack of a plan by the team.

Well, will be interesting to see what the final outcome of this turns out being.

Ok, is anyone actually still hyped for this game anymore? Can't believe what a turnaround this project has had since the KS.

Yep. This whole thing has been gross.
