YAKUZA 5 LOCALIZED FOR PS3

It's delayed because they are porting it over to PS4.

BELIEVE

I wish...I can only hope they offer it on PSNow or something, since I traded my PS3 in a few months ago. I'm super disappointed in no new Yakuza news either. I was blindly hopeful for a Yakuza 0 localization announcement.

We'll need to buy a lot of Yakuza 5 if we're hoping for 0.

Still haven't unsealed the copy I picked up in akihabara in April. I'm a bit more than half-way through type-0, that's my next stop. (0, not 5)

I also don't think Isshin could get close to 2 million. Yakuza fan base is dedicated, but Isshin is a side thing and I honestly don't think we're as dedicated as we think we are.

I care way less about the story in Ishin than in the mainline story, so I don't really care about missing out on story nuances and I was fine to play it in japanese.

meanwhile in 5 and 0 there's a lot of dialogue that goes over my head (the slang and dialects don't help), so I have a lot more of an interest in playing them in a language I'm actually fluent in.

basically I'm saying that as a crazy Yakuza fan I'd pay for the mainline games multiple times, but wouldn't particularly feel the need to do the same for Ishin.

If it came to it, I'd throw $80-100 at Yakuza Zero, but I don't at all think they'll go direction.

Anyone thinking they'll announce Zero prior to 5 releasing is kidding themselves. I think it's better than even odds we'll end up getting Zero, but 5 has to do decently well and hit expectations.

The US account tweeted the same thing but with PS3, so I assume it's just a mistake, sadly, would love to see PS4 owners get in on it too

I recently sold my PS4, this gave me one hell of a fright I hope it isn't on PS4 otherwise this was a huge mistake on my part...

I mean, as neat as that would be, it was hard enough for them to find the motivation to pay for localization, I can't imagine the effort involved in a ps3 -> 4 port.

I certainly hope so. Plus as releasing only on PS3 guarantees that it'll bomb, a PS4 port also increases our chances of getting a sequel.
Probably just a mistake though unfortunately.
Quite the opposite, developing a PS4 version would eat up the tiny profits a PS3 only release would have made.

I'm pretty certain that releasing this game at all isn't for the hopes in creating a 'massive profit' so I seriously doubt there's a PS4 version.

Seems like its mostly for the fans to me and I appreciate it that very much. No point spending unneccesary money in porting it when they could just localise the first PS4 Yakuza game released instead. Releasing a physical version is a waste of money as well.

Cock Strain, Lifetime Warranty
Since the game announcement at PlayStation Experience, we’ve been working very hard to ensure that this massive game — including all the DLC packs — is localized for the western market.
Nice to hear.

Sorry to say that this isn't a release date guys, I'm waiting keenly myself. But PlayStation Lifestyle have shown what the top 500 pre-owned games in Japan was for 2014 and Yakuza 5 was on page one.

I'd have linked the article but I'm pretty sure GAF class it as a banned site. So, correct me if I'm wrong but where it says 933.153, does that mean lifetime sales are close to 1 million?

I mean the figures "72.075 / 338.624" show the first week sales on the right and the follow up week on the left. I'm struggling to find out what the sales LTD are.

I can't help but think if they nearly sold 1 million copies in Japan alone, why did they need Sony to intervene for them to finally localise? I know SEGA are looking at regaining their customer trust and relationship back but when they're still ignoring the Yakuza franchise, that's really difficult to do.

If Nagoshi said at the end of the Gio Corsi interviews "You know what, we love that you love Yakuza so we can confirm the HD collection and Yakuza 0 are coming to the west," I'd go ape shit and I would believe them. As it stands, I'm highly dubious.

Two different markets. It's a very popular series in Japan, one that gets marketed to hell and back.

But here, it failed, and people on the outside still don't know what to make of it. In this case, it's not that SEGA doesn't trust the quality of their IP, they just know the market ain't ready for some Heat-action. Y5 will probably be another test like 3 and 4 were - let's hope it doesn't fail because it might be the last time we get lucky like this.

You're not reading the chart correct:

Total used sales in 2014 = 72,075
Total used sales LTD = 338,624
Total sales used + new = 933,153
Total sales (NEW only) = 594,529

SEGA isn't close to a million sales in Japan.

I don't think you understood the message. The key statement was about the quality of their products rather than them localisaing everything, although that doesn't exclude the latter happening.

Because it hasn't really been selling elsewhere. If a game sells 500k copies in Japan, it's more worthwhile to create a sequel that sells another 500k domestically, than a localization that sells 50k.

I hope a lot of people buy Y5 because it's a great game.
I'm definitely double dipping to show support, but I'm afraid it's not appealing enough to the masses and Sega finally gives up for good.

Time for a bump.

German rating board USK just rated Yakuza 5, as they play through the game, the translation should be pretty much done.

Interesting that the publisher is Sega and not Sony.
