This is sort of pathetic.

I have nothing against them remastering PS3 games but when you consider the drought of actual PS4 exclusives at the moment this is a bit stupid.

Pretty sure it doesn't effect it. AAA games just take a lot manhours this gen.

They fucked up Metal Gear Solid 3. Didn't they fuck up Zone of The Enders as well? Hexadrive fixed zoe 2 on ps3 at least. Bluepoint is the last company I want making remasters/ports.

Bluepoint didn't do anything on ZoE. MGS HD is generally considered to be a good port

Bluepoint didn't work on ZOE and have done some of the best remasters to date.

Anyone else think Xbox One BC will slow third party and Microsoft remasters?

Don't think so, but I hope they start taking more of Ms' route and improve the games in other ways other than increasing resolution and fps, or at least pack the whole collection together if you are just Full HD porting.

What ? What did they fuck up in MGS3 ? Can you elaborate?

For one they couldn't get the framerate to a steady 60fps on either platform. Most of all though they didn't fix certain effects. Rain is completely missing both in-game and during cutscenes.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I need Demon's Souls... I really do.

Gotta love strong opinions based on incorrect information.

It would bomb again. Same as Tearaway is going to bomb again.

Maybe. I'll bet the cost of remastering for PS4 would be a drop in the bucket compared with the original development costs though, so the risk is much lower this time around. Slap a budget price tag on it, get it on both retail shelves and PSN... you never know.

Gran Turismo 6 should be out this year as a remaster. It's also the one GT game that I know a lot of people skipped on PS3 due to its release timing.

As long as it's not more God of War style remastered. I need more meat than that for the price. Stuff like uncharted is fair even without the MP.

Sorry, but you got that completely wrong.

I hope not. It's remarkable that they made BC work at all, and it's better than nothing, but due to the performance issues it has, I'd rather prefer native remasters. I even prefer keeping my 360 around over BC with spotty performance.

I wouldn't know about those games but in my experience Bluepoint has been excellent. Shadow of the Collosus and Ico were great, as was Titanfall 360 (which I realize is more of a de-master, which made it even more impressive.)

We know the PS4 remaster is happening since the Korean ratings boarded had a posting for it. I'm guessing it'll be announced at TGS alongside the sequel.

Speaking of GR, Toyama and Naoko Sato (GR's story/scenario/event designer) did a livestream yesterday for Siren

Accepting that some of these are not Sony IP, these are remasters for PS4 I would buy in a heartbet

Wipeout HD/Fury
Nier
Demon Souls
Motorstorm
Resistance Fal of Man
Killzone 2
Fallout 3
Remember Me
Shatter
Mass Effect Triology
Gravity Rush
Darksiders
Mirrors Edge
Ratchet and Clank a Crack in Time

- Motorstorm collection (ideally including arctic edge but unlikely). I'd even take just the first two games
- gran turismo 6 (although maybe that would be too close to GT7 in content. ideally we'd have seen it by now too)
- puppeteer HD

I still want Beyond, all 3 Bioshocks, and Ascension. Oh and RDR and FFXII. I know only two of those are in Sony's control, but still.

You don't know what you're talking about.
MGS3 HD is perfect, and Bluepoint didn't do ZOE.

Bluepoint is one of the best studios when it comes to remasters and ports.

I would never say they "fucked up" MGS3 like that other poster did. MGS3 HD is one of the best remasters and Bluepoint is arguably the best remaster dev.

But for the record, MGS3 HD is missing Snake v.s. Monkey and the Nightmare minigame.

Also the framerate is much improved but still falters in certain areas. Also applies to MGS2.

Well, I think most of the old canards are on display, and whatever, people will say whatever they want. I think the one thing we do need to be concerned about is how people have a predilection to spend money on franchises they are comfortable with and, to some extent, games they already know are good. There is a strong temptation for many I would imagine to repurchase God of War 3 instead of New IP A given the risk involved in buying New IP A.

Normally, I'd say this would be a pretty big problem. With this gen in particular, however, it seems like there are so few new titles on shelves that it's not necessarily as big of a problem as it would have been in say the PS2 era, where a remaster of RE2 would be going up against Devil May Cry.

In other words, I feel like they have the potential to suck the air out of the room at retail more than they do at the greenlight stage.

I'm not even sure what I want off the top of my head.

Ni No Kuni
Infamous 1 + 2
Ratchet and Clank Future trilogy and into the nexus
Red Dead Redemption
Resistance trilogy
Killzone 3
Metal Gear Solid
Heavenly Sword
Final Fantasy XIII trilogy
Enslaved.

There's probably a million other things I could think of.

Most of the time these are farmed out to contract developers that wouldn't be developing original titles anyway.

If it's making money for everyone, I don't see a problem.
