Rokka 7

That goddamn cliffhanger, like seriously. Shit I want to know the damn outcome between the Aldet vs Hans fight.

Aside from that this was a solid episode. I liked how we got to know more of Adlet's backstory and how a Fiend made the people in his village go against each other. It sucks knowing that his sister and his friend were killed by their own people. Also the Fiend talking to Adlet and his friend was weird as fuck especially when it's voiced by Akira Ishida. It was nice knowing that Adlet wasn't motivated by revenge but to be stronger to protect anything. It was nice hearing more of Flamie's backstory as well. I have to say so far I'm really liking Flamie's character. Also what the heck was Chamot doing, it looked suspicious.

Honestly so far this series has been really too good for its genre. I mean usually anime that has fantasy in it are mostly generic as fuck but here it's quite the opposite. It's turning out to be the surprise of the season. Also I'm shipping Adlet x Flamie even if it may turn out bad.

Rokka has rocketed itself to the "Favourites of the Season" tier for me as well. Also I'm getting my dosage of mystery drama without having to watch Laplace which is great lol

Amagami SS ep.21-24
So this was the Ayatsuji arc. She's always had an appearance in the other girls arcs as the class rep, but it was good seeing more of her. They should have dug more into the issues with her sister, but they packed a lot of drama into the four episodes. Either way, the ending was cute and it was the first time they basically hit the fast forward button to get a quick peek at the couple 10 years out. Very cute..

I'm glad I watched Eureka Seven when I did.

I'd hate to be one of the fans who were actually hyped for AO only to be presented with nothing but disappointment.

Asuna being kidnapped in SAO was fine. It made for a really compelling story arc in the fairy game. It wasn't really any different from Jafar capturing Jasmine in Aladdin.

Still can't stop thinking about that show. I swear, SAO season 1 is one of the greatest things ever created in any medium.

Nice new cover art for Funi's budget rerelease of Eureka Seven AO.

Amazing.

What was worse was how it even played out with that.

Announcement: "Well, it's modern Bones, so it will probably be shit and destroy our memories of the original"

First couple of episodes: "Hey, this is actually good. It's a miracle! Maybe this show can actually be a worthy successor after all."

And then, well, you know the rest.

Well I thought it was just terrible. Turning an equal to any of the frontline fighters (inc Kirito) in the first arc into a helpless damsel.

Yeah the first two/three episodes showed promise!

It all comes out of her decision to jump in front of Heathcliff's sword at the end of the first arc. Kirito's journey after that is analogous to rescuing her out of Hell. It was quite well done.

So what is Kyoda doing nowadays anyway? Did he retire from the industry or something?

Edit:Nvm looks like he worked on the Expelled from Paradise film I guess. Seems like he's indeed still alive.

I dont recall Aladdin being a gary stu having a big tit younger cousin who wants to bang him and a monkey who wants to be his daughter.

The Light of El Cantare
Jarmel's post reminded me, Munehisa Sakai announced today that he's leaving Toei, possibly because of the endless fuckery he was undoubtedly subject to while directing Sailor Moon Crystal. It's a sad loss as he was one of the studio's best directors when his vision isn't compromised (Smile Precure eps 19&27, One Piece Strong World), but he'll do good things wherever he lands.

As long as it's not BONES.

Was Gangsta worth watching? Got a couple of shows going(Snow White, Ushio to Tora, DBZ...), but I forgot to check that one.

He can work on Kekkai Sensen Season 2: Escape from New York

The thing is that Asuna is shown to the audience as a really strong girl who can take care of her own safety, but then she gets too close to the Kirito event horizon and is forced to suck more so that he can shine. Going from being an empowered badass that everybody respected in SAO to being a captive princess in ALO did awful things for her character.

If I had to link it to anything else it'd be Sheik in OoT, since she's a really competent character up until Ganondorf puts her inside a crystal and then she's back to being a powerless hostage for the rest of the story. The big difference between OoT and SAO is that we didn't get frequent scenes where Ganondorf ranted about taking Zelda against her will while she prayed for Link to show up and rescue her, which is what we got in ALO.

One of the things that tick me off in power fantasy stories is how often the whole supporting cast is forced to sit out during important battles for the sole reason of having the MC win by himself while the rest of the cast cheer him on at best. Back to SAO, I kept expecting Klein to use the revival item he got from Kirito during the final battle to let him get back up and go on to beat the crazy admin. Even a detail as small as that would've made me enjoy that finale a whole lot more, but instead (from what I remember) Kirito somehow survived a fatal hit thanks to plot armor and then went on to beat Akihiko.

I get that having Klein save Kirito's ass would've made the latter into less of a perfect hero, but ignoring the obvious Chekov's gun that the writer had set in place (the revival item) to opt for a deus ex machina instead felt like shoddy writing to me... or could it be that the fate of the revival item happened to be yet another thing that was left out of the anime adaptation?

I'm not surprised. Toei should just get in the sea.

He just storyboarded an episode of Classroom Crisis too, so he's still active among the Bones circle of directors.

Going by overall impressions, you can give that one a pass. Look forward to Genocidal Organ instead.

I need to watch the latest episode of the Six Braves but I'll concur that it's been way better than I would have expected. I just wish the animators weren't clearly killing themselves trying to make it - hurray for shitty scheduling :( It's also been one of the few shows/things in recent memory I can recall where I think a lot of the characters designs are..........off for a lack of a better world.

Also, I guess the conversation died while I was away but I'm going to have to say that equating (in severity) the multiple, lazily written attempted rapes attempts (to say nothing of the multiple other ways SAO denigrates women inside and outside the Aincrad arc) to a few minutes where a MC talks about female anatomy lustfully or a few minutes of grown ass women in provocative but context appropriate attire is something I'm at a bit of a loss of words for. I want to say "disingenuous" but I'm pretty sure that isn't the right word here. Ah well.

Ok real talk and I'm sincerely not trying to be a jerk but how old are you?

Episode 12 never.😌

Apparently the Jeweltown police are so incompetent they're reliant on outside help when a real criminal shows up.

Tonari no Seki-kun Specials 1-2
eh, long run time stretched things out a little thin but it was fun seeing Seki get fucked with for a change.

Go Princess Precure 28

Rich people and their islands. Of course the fire Cure doesn't know how to swim. Not a very subtle hint she wants to stay away from the water. Even when Yui gave her an out. Though I guess that's the point, that she's still awkward around people. A princess must have her pride after all. So Yui becoming a Precure was brought up after all. If she wants to make stories of them, there's a little company called Toei she might be interested in joining. Props to resisting as long as she did. Lock pulled a new power out of his ass (hood?), but she has suddenly cemented himself as one of the series's most competent villains thus far in a simple move. There aren't enough villains attempting to steal the transformation trinkets. Not bad I'll admit.

Actually, the themetic idea of Fairy Dance being a... I forget the correct greek legend, but a journey into Hades to rescue a person who sacrificed themselves to save you is kind of cool. It's a pity it doesn't play out that way at all
