Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
People keep saying a remake and a reimagining are different in regards to this game...but in general, FF7 is basically doing what Ratchet and Clank Reimagining is doing, although even more extreme.

So technically, this would count as a reimagining of the original game, correct?

Not if the only thing they change is the battle system

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.

My bet is on yes, but we know too little to delve into that kind of territory right now.

I hope they turn escaping the Zolom in the marsh into an annoying mini game that you get a trophy for. Not for any legit reason but just to troll.

Falk

that puzzling face
Instead of Beta, just give Midgar Zolom Bolt 2 Thundara Lightning and make the QTE Lightning dodging, and bam there's already a Lightning cameo in FFVIIr

No one has respect for the Planet.

You all have failed the Captain. Aeris died so that he could live!

i'm honestly surprised it wasn't a a long process of reviving her option in the original.

That's problem with JRPG -players nowadays. They don't want anything to have consequence.

You know why Aerith was so memorable? Because she died and stayed dead.

Spoiler alert for Persona 4 but
the story would have been a lot better if Nanako stayed dead and they dealt with the themes accordingly

The narrative proceeds forward with the idea that Aerith's death motivates the crew to hate Sephiroth more and to see to his demise. It was a powerful plot device and watershed moment in video games, especially in 3D.

Changing everything short of her death(such as the ability to revive her) makes FF7 something it isn't. Changing when, how, and why would be much more palatable, as those details are forever spoiled.

DLC presenting a "What If" extra scenario where the party COULD revive Aerith may be much more palatable as well.

bolded.
yeah that's why i said after the story is complete..

I havent followed video games in ages. 30 Mins ago I went on a rant, saying SE could at least make an ff7 Sequel. And another comment that Sony and SE used to be synonymous.

Now I find out we have a partially Sony back FF7 remake. WoW

The haters will come in droves though, at every little tidbit they learn and upon release.

Ill just enjoy it without every reading another thread about it. Maybe watch youtube videos about it. (no looking at comments)

I'm cool with being able to revive Aerith.. but ONLY after you've completed the story. To me that's fair.

They should hide a bunch of vague hints within the game that suggest that Aeris can be revived just so that everyone will believe enough to try every possible way to do it but never actually be able to. And then anonymously post some fake, professional quality screenshots of it being done just so rumors spread that it is possible and everyone talks bout how close they came to actually doing it for years and years just like it happened with the original game.

Dudes don't worry I hear we just need to talk to the General and find the alternate Underwater Breathing Materia and then...

Best thing is, the first search result I found of the good old days was on a Tripod page, no less.

There is interview with Kitase this week

They seem to have set the direction on how the visual will look. But they seems to be going through trial and error with the battle system.

They fear the command battle system used back than might not work out in this day and age, so they are thinking hard on how they will do it.

Dial up Tsuchida. He'll figure that shit out and make it fun.

Let's spam them with letters and on social media with messages containing the following:

"RE: FF7Remake combat system:

1. Get Tsuchida
2. Play Grandia 3"

Yeah... I know there's been a bit of panic around here regarding how S-E could muck up FF7RE's battle system, but I'm just going to hold on to my blind faith that Kitase & Nomura will come through. :)

They're still working in how the battle system will work? So much for the hopes of seeing the battle system this winter.

yea that was not a realistic expectation. We will probably not see much in-game stuff at all this winter.

Kitase also states that they don't want ordinary action RPG either...they want to keep the feel of FF7 while having surprising feel.

We could see combat, but not any of the UI. I feel they probably know what they want the combat to be like in terms of how it looks, but are probably still figuring out how to actually control it all (i.e. can you move characters during battle, will they show some kind of ATB-meter on screen and if they do, would they make some changes to it vs. old school ATB FFs, what kind of new mechanics they could add, how character switching works (is it automatic or manual) and so on). They might show some kind of in-engine mock-up of what they are envisioning for FFVIIR's combat, but we'll probably have to wait for a while to get any specifics on how it actually works.

I'm glad he knows what the fans wants. Hope they deliver it then.

I guess, but if they indeed show something will be really early it seens. Probably just a tech demo of the battle system.

Ever since Advent Children I really wanted the same combat system (or at least updated a bit) with AC-like style and graphics, bit like a dream come true. Would do a lot to not make the combat mechanics seem aged (I think they held up rather well, but whatever), and FFXIII made it seem rather viable when it comes to cinematic quality hand in hand with mechanics. Don't think this'll happen though, kinda sad.

Then again, I'm one of the seven people that liked Dirge of Cerberus, I thought Crisis Core was quite decent (balance was wonky tho) and I always liked KH, so I guess I'm good either way.

(plz Squeenix ATB plus AC animations)

Really all they have to show is the opening of the bombing mission with in-game graphics and it'll be enough for me to lose my shit. That would probably tide me over until E3 '16. :p

X-2. Do that. That way you wont get immense backlash from the aging fanboys and girls.

Why blind though? They're top tier developers when motivated.
I guess the motivation part is where ''blind'' comes into the equation, though I have no reason to believe they aren't.

I hope Kitase is really hands on with this project. He certainly seems to be.

That is pretty much the most reassuring thing he could have said.

7 quotes from Nomura and we have no idea what's going on. He did hint at the same, but he left room for interpretation and GAF ran with it.
1 Kitase sentence and we at least know more clearly what they're aiming for. :)

Glad to see Kitase knows how to do interviews. If I had to read yet another Tabata-style interview it would be rough...

Then they will get backlash from the new players.

The backlash will happen no matter, they just have to make whatever they want.

Then... What are they aiming for? Nomura said it won't be the same and Kitase said it won't be "typical" action. That doesn't really clear anything. Actually, it just increases the amount of discussion on the matter since now it won't be either.

Chain of Memories battle system do it.
