Suddenly reminded of when some were trying to convince me that Beyond Two Souls had better lighting and character models..because goddamn, this game looks absolutely phenomenal.

Wow, looks absolutely stunning! Not worried about story / characters / presentation at all, Remedy are masters in those areas. And the time mechanics look great too, so this is my most anticipated game for 2016.

Eh, I think they excel in presentation to be honest. But yeah, they seem to be interested in exploring the narrative medium which is great. I think they have taken a pretty big risk with both the medium and the presentation of this game, so I am pretty impressed.

This is why I like it too. If you want great visuals and gameplay then there are many games but if you want the whole package then there are not so many. If the art and the story is not good then I don't care how good is the gameplay or the graphics, I mostly play a game for the story. Obviously you need a good gameplay to enjoy the story but without the interesting story it's useless. :)
We are lucky that there are teams like Remedy, Naughty Dog etc. who can deliver the whole package :)

I agree although I really disliked the fatigue mechanic in AW...it made the game such a laborious chore for me. AW was so unfit.

They don't have that here, and coupled with all the other stuff the have, yeah, this definitely looks like the total package.

The game looks incredible and i can't wait to play it !!!

I love Remedy games. They do have that magic touch that other developers don't have in gunplay, controls etc. that's why i'm sure i'm gonna have a blast with this game.

And those gifs are sweet !!!

And the notes:
http://advances.realtimerendering.com/s2015/SIGGRAPH_2015_Remedy_Notes.pdf
From page 128:

Is this mean 1080p confirmed?

I am not super well versed with graphics tech, but it sounds like the game runs at native 1080p from that quote but certain effects are calculated using a lower precision (resolution). Plenty of games run alpha effects or post processing effects like depth of field at a lower resolution than the native resolution. For example, I am pretty sure the alpha effects in uncharted golden abyss on the vita run at a res lower than the games native res and in a more recent example I believe the dof in mgs 5 runs at a lower resolution than 1080p even though the game is native 1080p on ps4.

Upscaled 1080p. As in, the final image you see on your TV is 1080p.
I'll eat crow here, but this is a technical presentation, it's going to be precise. So that means 1080p. They're not going to fluff it like that, especially when they don't care about upscalling to 1080p if the final image was 900p since the Xbox and whatever it does would take care of it. If they had a customer scaler solution (Ryse), it would be documented like it was on Cryteks presentations.

To be honest, I am quite surprised its 1080p with the level of everything what's going on.

Agreed, it looks like all screen-space is scanned at 720p, but that doesn't mean the actual pixel resolution output will be 720p.

Sounds like you have some idea of what you are talking about and I believe you are correct.

Game is not going to be 720p.

Too much time skipping and stopping for me. Shit be used sparingly, but it continuously breaks up the flow and I can't see any challenge if enemies are constantly getting frozen. The main character looks modeled after an actor. The character isn't interesting either.

The main character, (and every other character in the game), IS modeled after a character, we also know nothing about him besides the fact that he's trying to save his brother.

I'm pretty sure they were playing on godmode to show off game and different ways to approach fights. I bet there is limit how much you can use, then those power have to load or cool down, bit like flashlight in Alan Wake. And maybe towards the end you get close to that godmode. This is all just speculation of course.

so it's basically like Max Payne.

Looks like the novelty of the time mechanic will wear off fast. I can see a lot of set pieces using that power.

“Looks like“ based on what? It's amazing how people judge whole games on limited footage.

Just saw this on N4G. What the hell is this???

http://www.ticgn.com/quantum-break-to-run-at-1080p-on-xbox-one/

There is more positive news for the highly anticipated game from Remedy Entertainment. Quantum Break won the Best Console Graphics award at SIGGRAPH 2015 as well a nod for Best Rendering Technology at the same event.

SIGGRAPH awards :

Where is Remedy???

Correct me if i'm wrong.

Perhaps you should ask the site which stated that Remedy won "Best Console Graphics award"?
Btw, the second page you linked doesn't even mention "Best Console Graphics" which could be a reason why you couldn't find Remedy.

Quantum Break runs at 1080p / 30fps

http://www.icxm.net/x/quantum-break-1080p.html

Remedy made a presentation last week at SIGGRAPH 2015 where they spoke about rendering technologies used in Quantum Break. In the document that was handed out to participants, Remedy stated that the resolution of the game was 1080p. They also revealed that like other third-person shooters, the game would run at 30 frames per second.

However, some outlets misunderstood the presentation and perpetuated rumors that the game ran at 720p. They probably didn't understand the technical aspects of game development and how shadows and lighting are evaluated at different resolutions.

Quantum Break, like Ryse: Son of Rome last year, also won the SIGGRAPH 2015 award for Best Console Graphics at the event. The title also managed to grab the Best Rendering Technology accolade according to some reports. We have reached out to Remedy Entertainment for comment and shall update you as soon as we know more.

Read the SIGGRAPH slides and don't get the (wrong) idea like ShamePain it's running at 720p.

oh, i don't think it's running 720, i just don't think it's running 1080...yet. i think they're aiming for it.

alternatively, i can go into expecting 1080 and be disappointed when digital foundry revels it's not. they really don;t want to be implanting the idea the game WILL run at 1080p

So where are people seeing the award winners and nominees from SIGGRAPH 2015?

Looking at their site I cant see anything about any award winners apart from something to do with AC?
