Probably been answered in here or another thread, but does anyone have a good story recap video I can watch? I've played 3 and 4 fully and some of 1 and 2(though by the time 4 came out I saw recap vids around that time and got fully caught up). I haven't played Peace Walker though and that's obviously really important to this story.. I read the backstory in Ground Zeroes but I'd like a telling of the whole thing to get ready.

Honestly reading this timeline is not only a faster way to go through that, but it is more in-depth and it allows you to keep track of the story a lot easier.

How so? Not bad for $100. Not as expensive as other CEs either.

id rather just get the day one edition that comes with codes from retail, paying like 100 bucks for a little toy hand, only thing about the CE I would want would be the tin case, but I could get it for cheap on ebay later, more specifically the uk one

I actually like it, and for $40 extra I cannot complain at all, I want it

I'm thinking of just going with the regular day one edition now too after seeing it, not sure I can justify throwing down €140 for that... ridiculously over-priced here.

I see lots of people here got an early copy (I hate you), any impressions from gaffers?

From the 2 - 3 hours I played so far it's incredible but
the opening is what's really amazing and will stick with you for a while. Nothing so far is of that level at the moment.

Let me guess,
it's more linear cinematic style MGS in the opening?

You could say that, it also acts as a tutorial of sorts. Let's just say that you will be having shit tons of questions and very few answers, if any. It's insanity and quite brutal.

EDIT: Here is my reaction to it in gif form.

We receved today the collector's edition in Chile:

Problem is... it doesn't have any DLC codes (the Day One edition has it).

We're waiting for an official answer from Konami.

Anyone can confirm if your edition has codes?

Wow, it's not the Day One?. I'm not feeling it too much, glad I didn't spent all that money on it lol, could it be that latam recieves a different CE. or those 3 items it's all there is?

I knew it, always wanted this game to be like old style MGSs, preferably current gen only with insane visuals, I'll buy this game cause I'm a fanboy but I had a mixed feelings about it since it was announced as open world :(

I know reviews are incredible and a lot of people are going to enjoy it but I feel the comunity will really be divided when it come to this game, MGS4 will look like a huge consensus by comparison...

You can bet on it. You see my tag? My reaction was the complete opposite.

I, like you, am disappointed but it's an incredibly fun game to play. As for the story, you'll just have to listen to the tapes and wait till the next scene hits. It kind of makes sense when you think about it in this way, BB is rebuilding his legacy as a legend. It can't be a linear game in that sense, it has to be open world and the story has to move slow since you're literally growing as time passes.

The game gives you bits and pieces the more you play, so there will always be something new to do and something new to experiment with. I prefer the base model of the old games as well instead of PW but I also welcome this as I feel that if they truly wanted to make you feel like BB, then it has to be open world and it has to have that factor of you growing your own motherbase.

You can bet on it. You see my tag? My reaction was the complete opposite.

Your reaction to
the ending
makes me want to chicken the entire game just to see it, lmao. But that's what I love about MGS, it's all about the insanity with realistic military/political issues and such sprinkled on top.

Don't worry just yet man. The Metal Gear franchise has many kinds of fans with all kinds of tastes. Personally I found the twist to be terrible, but as I said, others are saying it is amazing.

My personal advice has always been: "Play and judge for yourself". Don't let others' opinions to influence you on what to play and what to skip. Play everything that catches your attention.

I really, REALLY hope you like the plot of this game, because if you like that sort of thing, then you are in for one heeeeeeeell of a ride.

I'm having a real tough time deciding whether to get this on PS4 or PC. I have a PC capable enough to handle this on max at 1080p/60 no problem. But at the same time I got Ground Zeroes on Steam (after having already beaten it on PS4) and it just didn't feel right playing an MGS game on PC! I know it's irrational.
Buy it now for ps4, buy it for 5 dollars on steam in six months

Yeah, I know what you mean but I'm also wondering if the guy who loves MGS4 as much as I did, disliked/hated
the twist
, I wonder then what it's all about then haha but, all in good time. :)

Hook PC up to TV and use a PS4 controller.

But yeah you said it's irrational so I guess rationality doesn't apply here.

I was worried about this being peace walker 2 but now that I'm actually playing peace walker I'm kind of ok with that. I loved all the codec stuff in snake eater but the tapes in peace walker are amazing. If this is peace walker combined with ground zeroes gameplay it will probably be my favourite game of all time. I still play 3 just to mess with the ai. I can't imagine how much time I'll waste in v.

Going to ask this in here because it's strictly gameplay related and I really don't want to venture into the spoiler thread.

How much tagging is required in this game for completion and trophies? Having to tag everyone was easily the worst part of GZ.

Not necessarily a legal issue; that's a grey area. But giving fake or inaccurate personal information (name, payment, address, locale, etc...) is fraud and directly comes under Microsoft and Sony's rights to ban you and cancel the purchase. Not worth the savings IMO.

FYI, nobody has ever been banned from PSN for having multiple region accounts. And the only people banned from XBL have been doing other dodgy stuff like getting free games from other regions or using pirated consoles. It's really nothing to worry about.

Anyone know of a local socal store that's selling this earlier?

I have the CE on pre order via gamestop, but I don't think I'll be able to withstand the wait.

Not sure how I feel about that little toddler arm, but I'll keep my preorder for the CE if only for that extra Bluray (and those MGO extras).

At least that big Diamond Dogs box looks kinda cool.

I'm not far into the game so I have no idea, I hope others who played and are far or finished the game, can help. As for trophies, nothing is shown. I'm playing it on XBO and all of the achievements are secret so I don't want to risk going to search the net for what they are so instead I'll opt for doing so when I finish the game.

If MGO is a factor get PS4, if not, get whatever, lol.

Have been able to see what exactly transfers over from GZ?

Goddamnit... thank god this is the last one. I hate these MGS waits... been doing this shit since MGS2. I thought old age (27) brings patience.
