Shining Force in 3D would be great. It would mainly be for battle scenes of course.

Du-duh du-duh DUN DUN...DUN DUN...

Does Sega own the rights to Compile's software?

Sega picked up the rights to Puyo Puyo and everything from Madou Monogatari that appears in Puyo Puyo a few years before Compile folded. They also supposedly published MUSHA's Wii VC port.

D4 owns most of everything else. They apparently licensed Madou Monogatari out to Compile Heart, who made Sorcery Saga. They got with Nintendo to make a spiritual successor to Guru Logi Champ on DSiWare.

Irem had the rights to The Guardian Legend, so who knows where those are at.

It's a weird license that I never fully understood and haven't really looked at in a while, but I think the gist of it was that D4 still owns them but they granted Compile Heart a license to make new games based off some old Compile IP.
Oh, that's good to know and makes more sense since Compile's older efforts are still on Project Egg with D4's copyright.

Irem had the rights to The Guardian Legend, so who knows where those are at.
I'm reasonably sure Irem only published the game. It is a sequel after all.

If we're throwing out wants I'd be super happy with MUSHA, LandStalker and SOR3 but would want to add Alien Soldier, Dynamite Headdy, Ristar, Ranger-X, Lightning Force, Phantasy Star IV, Monster World IV, Sonic 3K and Sonic CD.

With Golden Axe and Puyo Puyo Tsu I don't understand why M2 wouldn't simply use the Arcade versions. Unlike Altered Beast there weren't any visual upgrades for the MD ports. For arcade conversions I'd be okay with Tsuu (provided they add online play like the Wii VCA release) but bring us Power Drift, Revenge of Death Adder, Virtua Racing (plus Deluxe) and Virtua Fighter to go with it.

MUSHA remains my favorite Genesis game(and I'm so glad I got a complete copy before the price skyrocketed), so I'd get a 3DS version.

God, just keep the Idea Hacks away from Aleste. That news is terrifying.

Only possibilities that excite me are Streets of Rage 3 (and only beecause M2 would probably let you toggle between Bare Knuckle 3 and Streets of Rage 3) and Comix Zone.

Shame about no Sonic 3 & Knuckles, though. Weird that we've had two lines of ports/remamkes pass that one up.

... Wait, why didn't I even think of Ristar getting a 3D Remake? Or Vector Man, for that matter? Those 2 games'd be beautiful in 3D!

No Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
I'll never understand how can Sega sell Sonic 1 & 2 in different platforms again and again and 3&K gets left out when it is the best of the classic Sonic games.

M2 would have to fix the weird dithering /fake transparencies on Vectorman. In RGB it looks kinda nasty, and on a fixed-pixel display like 3DS, it would look worse.

Totally for though. VM has one of my favorite Genesis soundtracks.

Sonic Spinball and Streets of Rage 3, but no Sonic 3K, Ristar or Dynamite Headdy?

The only thing that makes sense is that there are legal issues surrounding the music.

Irem has a copyright on the title screen of the NES version, so they probably had some stake in it. I'm sure if D4 had full rights to it we would've seen it on Wii VC.

Anyways, this list seems more like wishful thinking. I'd be inclined to say fake given the number of people out there who seem to enjoy spreading BS. Hope we get more 3D Classics though!

I hope it's Golden Axe System 16 arcade version.

Edit: I don't see Thunder Force IV on that list, but damn, that game was made to be made in 3D.

Is Thunderforce a Sega IP? I remember that Techno Soft (RIP ...) owned the rights on the games...

You're right that's true, but I don't think Tecnosoft exists anymore. And Compile doesn't either, but I am wondering, legally, how it could work. IP ownership rights, not an area I know anything about.

Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.
Sega need Virtua Fighter and Racing out on the 3DS like yesterday.

Twenty-One Company owns Thunder Force, and is willing to, and has, licensed the series to sega in the past. Sega created Thunder Force VI on the PS2, as an example.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
3D Dynamite Headdy, 3D Ristar, and 3D Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Only then do you have my permission to die.

Oh and Shenmue 1 & 2 HD release on PS4.

I would absolutely love this game to get a 3D release. It deserves it. The art is just wonderful.

On the Wii VC looking into the emulators would find similar lists of games.

I think for Nintendo only the SNES emulator had info and it had some rather curious things there including Picross NP 1-9, Secret of Mana (years before it was seen) and Illusion of Gaia. Now those last two were published by Nintendo in some regions outside of Japan (SoM was NOE and the other one was NOA and NOE) which might have been why they were tested. If you know how to dump a Wii VC game and it is early enough take a look in the "CONTENT000001.APP" file for the list. On the other hand that doesn't explain some never released third party titles such as Populus, Smash TV (these popped up in later builds oddly enough), Aladdin and Dragon Ball Z 2. The things are painful to read as the formatting is like this:
small extract of CONTENT000001.APP said:

Some of the text is due to HEX>ASCII mess. Now I seem to remember * were code for some kind of problem for releasing (probably not emulation bug but rights or misc, some could eventually be resolved).

For the Mega Drive VC emulator a dumping and reading of the "CONTENT000001.APP" file finds similar strings but I think all the games in those ended up released.

This could be similar preliminary tests.

Why keep it in there? It isn't like you expect any non-internal people to read the list.

Edit: The real interesting part comes in seeing if this list has changed over time (i.e. is a working document) or if it is just some dummy data from the beginning (the partial SNES list I posted above actually had two lists, one of which never changed).

Power Drift slighted again.
It mostly seems to be to be Mega Drive (and since the Mega drive is 2 master systems duct taped together or something that makes BC easy, that too)

D4 didn't publish other Compile games like GunNac on Wii VC either. Nintendo selects VC games though so that's not really a great indication of anything.

Compile selfpublished Guardic (MSX) and then Irem published the sequel/spinoff Guardic Gaiden (FC). Compile didn't publish any of their own Famicom games actually, not even Zanac. Pony Canyon published that, and coincidentally their name's also on the title screen with copyright as well. Does that mean Compile/D4 don't have full rights to Zanac either?

I think '3D Thunder Force IV' and '3D Power Drift' should be the anchors of a third wave of Sega 3D Classics, filled out with arcade Golden Axe, arcade Shadow Dancer
and arcade Super Monaco GP.

All of those games are within M2's ability to get running on 3DS.

Greg Johnson still owns the rights to TJ&E right? I bet if someone asked him he'd probably be able to confirm the validity of this (or be forced to stay tight-lipped and thus provide further speculation...)

I actually just won 3D Gunstar Heroes in a giveaway the other day. XD Quickie; how do you pick up those orbs that fall sometimes? Tried every damn button!

landstalker!

guess this would make up for that canned 3d PSP version.

It'd certainly help, but I'm still peeved about that. I hope it turns out to be a popular release if true. Giving depth perception to the isometric viewing angle should make the game "click" for a lot of people.
