Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Comes to PC This January

I'm curious how it could have taken Capcom over three years to realize this game has huge potential on PC. It's so obvious.

You could say this for most of Capcom franchises. Even stuff like Ace Attorney will perform good with the increasing breadth of VNs available in Eng on PC.

I don't disagree with the hypothesis, but how is this evidence to support such a statement, here it clearly shows a similar game selling consistently less on the pc than world wide on the console.

There's two consoles so I guess 2 vs 1.In fact, the whole thing you just wrote doesn't make sense. If I'm reading the stats posted correctly, it's worldwide including every platform vs how much PC sold (which I assume is the steam spy numbers) which in that case, Prepare to die and Scholar is pretty much account for over 50% of sales.

Hopefully there will be some crazy high draw distance / LoD settings in there somewhere. Destroy pop-in.

I don't know why, but my wallet is ready to oblige them.

I don't know what you are referring to my man. That's world wide for every platform. I just posted PCs numbers from those numbers in July. And I hate when people lump consoles onto 1 platform. Stop doing that. Shit is annoying. People do this every times PC beats other platforms' sales numbers.

Meh, then quote separate numbers in the original statement if that's how you feel. The numbers were lumped to begin with, which leads one to think the view being stated is that pc sales will beat consoles world wide. Like needs to be compared with like, otherwise one can only surmise you yourself are creating a new "like"( e.g. Here consoles v pc).

It seems like it'd be fairly painless to release the iOS Trilogy on Steam, at the very least.

Also curious why Capcom seems afraid to let PC have a real Monster Hunter game that isn't an outsourced MMO.

So awesome! Got it for free on PS+ but never played more than the beginning. The frame rate, black borders and such really put me off but I feel it is a game I will enjoy. Will buy on Steam!

Played original through on Xbox360
Played DA halfway through on PS3 (PS+), not even going onto DA territory.
Will definatly buy this at launch.

Maybe their study showed general steam demographic would not like it enough to pull decent numbers.

Wow, had no idea this was even a possible thing. I'm grateful since i never had the last generation consoles but wanted to play this game so much!

Dear fellow Arisens -

Tons of folks asked whether the upcoming PC port will have a capped frame rate. With DDDA being an MT Framework-based game, you can rest assured it'll have the usual graphics options found in other Capcom PC titles.

Stay tuned as we'll have more details to share regarding tech specs and features in the coming weeks/months.

This is what I had assumed, thank you very much for the update =)

Platform aside, sometimes I don't know why Japanese companies don't want to expand their franchises beyond Japan. That MMO isn't even available in Eng.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
Capcom seems to be making good moves lately, right? If they brought that feudal Japan Phoenix Wright game over here it would be officially a good time for them. Well they're definitely doing better than Konami nowadays.

I am gonna be cautiously optimistic about this one.

No mention of framerate so far so im assuming game-logic is tied to 30fps.
if it's just the same DD with higher resolution ill prolly skip it.

60+ fps or bust for me.

edit: Do we have a recent Capcom ps3/xbox360 port to use as reference?

Im sorry if I missed something but the OP just says

"The PC version will feature stunningly high-res graphics and improved fidelity, as well as support for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers, as well as a traditional keyboard and mouse control scheme."

Didn't scan through all the pages.

Arbitrary framerate support
Arbitrary resolution support (at least 4k compatible HUD elements based off the OP screens)
Mouse and keyboard and Xbox controller support.

MT Frameworks should've been their current gen engine as well but alas, I guess it's not suited for what they want anymore :(

Moreover, Dragon's Dogma Online runs at 60fps on PS4 and PC.
It uses the same assets from Dragon's Dogma. The game logic is not tied to 30 fps.

Sweet, that makes it a day-1 buy for me (after reviews and port reports)

give me a FOV slider, or atleast a .ini file and im a happy sailor.

I'm pretty sure that while MT Framework titles have arbitrary framerates in their benchmarks they are actually capped at 120 in game (well at least every single one I've played). I've got DMC4 to 600fps+ in it's benchmark before it started to freak out but wont budge over 120 actually in game. Highest frequency display I've got is 120hz so don't know how they play on a 144hz display so if someone who does could chime in with that but some titles I've had to go and edit the frequency via ini files to get it to synchronise correctly.

I GUARANTEE you it will sell the most copies on the PC platform.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition ("with Artorias of the Abyss") has sold 2,765,000 units worldwide PC version sold: 2,111,500

Dark Souls 2 has sold 2,311,000 units worldwide PC version sold 1,023,812

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin has sold 600,000 units worldwide PC version sold 306,452

They want that Dark Souls money.
wut, did Souls really sell that well on PC? I knew it was popular but if these numbers are reliable, then holy shit, where's my MonHun on PC Capcom? I need to check how much Toukiden sold, probably not all that well considering the mediocre 30fps/1080p lock port but still.

E: lol, 6000 copies. But I guess that's due to the abysmal price-port quality ratio.

No, those figures are likely fake. From Software statet in April 2013 that DS1 sold 2.3 million copies with 1.3 million copies on PS3 and XBox 360 alone (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=538569).

The numbers are not fake, he's using SteamSpy numbers for the PC version, which is the most up to date info we have on how it sold on the platform. He's not comparing it to the sales of the original game, he's comparing it to the Prepare to Die Edition.

Dark Souls is an anomaly really when it comes to Japanese games on Steam. Capcom games in general don't tend to be big hits on PC, despite being excellent ports.

Mt Framework's swansong on PC then?

A great engine that started out with such a big bang, I guess this is a great game to solidify it as being a great multiplatform and well scaling engine. Starting the generation with Lost Planet on PC: with all of its fantastic looking extra dx10 effects and tech.

I hope that maybe this gets some special effects love as well!

Resident Evil 6 had FOV settings in the ini. So even if there is no slider ... I think everything will be fine.
