Well like I said,
there's an option to get her in human form
if you so wish.
I just prefer the second one ;)
Sure, but
if there's a sequel, that means she will probably stay as alien Elma :< Oh well. It's not like I HATE her alien form, I just prefer the original one ^_^

So I've read through the last 2 (full post setting) pages, and read lots of impressions... but I can't find anyone really talking about Multiplayer. Why is that?

Is nobody playing the co-op multiplayer mode in the game?

Is it not something like, say, White Knight Chronicles multiplayer mode?

Can you group up with randoms (matchmaking) in any way for specific quests?

I was hoping this would be a really good Multiplayer game...

Umm... how about reading the OP? :)

How it works is detailed there. In the impressions section is link to a post talking about co-op quests. You could also CTRL+F your way through the earlier parts of the thread to find people talking about it.

So what's in the patch notes?

Not much its a pretty small bunch of fixes / adjustments it seems.

  • Adjusted equipment / doll equipment sorting so its easier to use
  • Calculation for the union grams have been adjusted so that it is not effected by the amount of players in a union.
  • Other fixes & adjustments.

For how long its been thats a pretty short list.

Maybe they've taken to Sakurai's patch note minimalism. :p

yes, general consensus is good, however not as good as the original.

It should be noted that this game is supposed to not have anything to do with Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii story wise. I think what you meant to say is that it's not quite as good as the Wii game, it's a spiritual successor.

Just from my standpoint, the gameplay looks better on XCX than on XC Wii, story is what most are comparing though.

I feared this would happen because of the silent main protagonist

Still hoping the story is good

I have heard that the story is in fact "good" just not amazing. A lot of people who have actually spent the 100 hours or so in beating XC on Wii think the story is one of the best in our modern generation of JRPG's, so it was going to be a hard act to follow with XCX on Wii U, so when you think about it, Monolith played it a bit safe by making the story in the new game told in a different way, having the world be explored in a more vast way.....the world in this game plays a big key in "gamer immersion" so the story, while "good" will probably not be as immersive as the world itself.

That makes perfect sense

I too would have no idea how they could beat the original story

I mean, I thought it was obvious from my comment lol, im just talking about consensus

From reading impressions I have a feeling that Xenoblade X is comparable to Metal Gear Solid V. Better gameplay and a much more vast overworld, but much weaker story and pacing.

I haven't heard anything from the OST. I'm saving that for when I actually get the game.

I was pretty critical about Sawano composing the soundtrack believing that he couldn't fill the void left by Xenoblade's composers.

Then I watched Kill la Kill...

...His music is awesome. I'm looking forward to hearing the OST for Xenoblade X.

It's hard to imagine a game having a worse story and worse pacing than the first Xenoblade.

If you didn't do all the quests, Xenoblade actually had some fantastic ways of controlling how you progressed. It's the years of compulsion needing to collect and explore everything that makes people feel the contrary.

Wut? Xenoblade's story had incredible pacing, its to the point where people think it doesnt have as many cutscenes as xenosaga but it actually has the same number of hours as xenosaga's cutscenes.

How is the pacing incredible? There are parts where you have a five minute cutscene and then three hours of gameplay before the next cutscene. That's not good pacing to me.

That sounds perfectly fine since its a video game, and there is no part where you are basically forced to 3 hours of gameplay, maybe an hour and a half at most during the 2nd half of the game when on a certain god

Honestly not that bad. Much better compared to the the regular battle theme from Xenoblade IMO.

The whole violin thing.

Yeah. I love the violin, but it's super high pitched and a bad sound for a regular battle theme (worse because it often gets in the way of really lovely field music. A rare 'miss' from Shimomura and one of my least favourite tracks in that game ...and then, I mean, Mechanical Rhythm happens.

There are two separate battle themes for battles on foot and in Dolls, two more for battles against Growth on foot and in Dolls, and then two or three boss type tracks. And then Uncontrollable for uniques.

You put a ton of hours into the game didn't you? What would you say is the most common battle type you engaged in?

Uh...I think I stuck with Doll battles almost exclusively for a while after I got mine, and still tend to fight in them more than on foot. You don't really run into Growth soldiers much unless you're in their forts/later continents where they're more abundant, so I'd say the nonGrowth battles were probably the most common. That's the second half of Black Tar, while the Doll Growth theme is that z29ba2t0t1l301e17 thing.

This is actually legit the first time Ive heard this track, did you actually just memorize that whole codename through memory?

Didn't expect to see this thread on the top page again.

Like CAW said, from the point where you get the dolls, you're mostly using them to fight. A few missions in tight corridors are exceptions, but Dolls are so OP compared to regular characters that it's not even funny iirc. They also can fly.

Psh, I just copied it off the track's filename in my music folders. The only thing I remember about it is that it's one of the names with 'battle' mixed in.

Cool thanks. Didn't know how much of the game you spend before getting access to the Dolls, so wasn't sure if that would make it so more time would be mandatory on foot.

i liked the story a lot more than the one of Blade Wii, and so the characters.

the thing is, in this game the sidequests are essential to get the most of the plot. Without them the main plot is quite short yes, but the subquests are part of the experience.

I think this is really important for new players, explore the world, do the normal and kizuna quests to really get the most of it.
