Witcher 3 is out, MGSV is out. Xenoblade Chronicles X is next.

Xenoblade X looks worse and worse everytime I see it. Maybe because it was unveiled before any real next-gen open world games were shown off and it's steadily becoming apparent how ugly it is compared to all the other AAA open world games.

OP shis in a bag and leaves it on GAFs doorstep, GAF rises to the occasion by shitting in its hands and throwing it everywhere.

Not an inaccurate description. It's amazing how a poorly worded op can so quickly set the tone for what might have otherwise been an interesting thread.

Less than 10 posts into the topic, already a comment on the faces of Xenoblade Chronicles X.

That is a cute Monado barrette. Never noticed before because I was too distracted by the lifeless doll eyes.

Eh, if Fallout 4 is like 3, then its gonna be amazing.

Also, no, Xenoblade X opinions so far have been great from reciews I seen. Also, I may be wrong, but between Xeno X and Witcher 3 and MGSV, isnt only Xeno X open world while the rwo others are hub based ?

It's also not the king in the graphics department either. Not including Fallout 4, which is undoubtedly the biggest game of this year, is absolutely ridiculous. No Just Cause 3 is also ridiculous.

Are you limiting yourself to open world games? I don't think Fallout 4 will be the biggest game of November let alone the whole year.

As long as I am able to fly giant mechs around a huge world, I'll be happy.

A bit spoilery about the use of mechs in XCX:
I hear they're not available until you're nearing the end of the game. Someone please tell me I'm wrong.

Witcher 3 is open world, it just has a few different locations you can go to but each location is massive.

Skyrim sold 20 million copies over its life. Fallout 4 quite possibly could sell more, and CoD isn't doing that well the last few years. Unless Battlefront pulls crazy numbers it will be the biggest game in November easily.

That's incorrect, it's not near the end of the game but you are going to be putting a large amount of hours before you start to use them.

Oh wow, that is terrible. Did you just pick a particularly bad shot for that picture?

Haha, yes. It's her with an expression like my avatar. I use it to respond to face hate.
It's silly because for a game that focusses on a beautiful huge detailed world, people will always call out the tiny faces.

Yeah, like the environments look cool but not impressive. And I love mechas so I like the Skells (glad they changed the name from Dolls, that was a stupid name).

But the gameplay looks like the same boring mmo crap from Xenoblade 1, and according to a reddit post I saw from an importer the combat is worse in some ways. Like you can't even use the Gamepad to switch the arts and the same topple mechanic is still in.

Dunno, like I said I have it preordered but I'm very un-hyped at this point.

I'm sure Fallout 4 will be a big game. I'll take quality over quantity, though.

What else is coming out in November that's even on par? Sure, COD and Battlefront may sell more initially, but one way or another Fallout's going to blow the internet the fuck up.

If he's talking sales, there's a decent chance it will end up being one of the best-selling games of the year. I'd likely bet it will sell more than any of the other games covered in the OP.

Of course, if you're talk big in terms of map size (which I don't think he is, given the context), who knows?

Yea, sorry. I was thinking just sales. I think COD and BF will both beat it for 2015. If Fallout 4 is good and has good community support it could end up overtaking them in the long run but that likely wouldn't be end of 2016 or 2017.

Although Tomb Raider will be awesome, it's going to get completely eclipsed by Fallout 4 it's not even funny.

Do people really not consider hub-based games to be open world? If that's the case, none of the Assassin's Creed games would be labeled as open world games.

Its not that I dont consider them as such but... well, the OP was about openworld. Although, it seems that in the end, only Xeno X, Fallout 4 and JC3 are seamless.

Not exactly super interested in Just Cause 3 (only played a few hours of 2), but from the footage I've seen it looks nice. As far as Fallout 4 goes, despite liking most of what I've seen from E3, I rather wait a year or two after patches roll out or when the "GOTY/Ultimate" edition comes out because of bugs and glitches.

Although I'm still interested in trying out Xenoblade X. I did enjoy the original one, but mixed impressions isn't giving me much confidence.

Agreed. Skyrim's launch numbers weren't anything particularly special, but it's had one of the most impressive sales tails in recent memory and I expect Fallout to do the same (unless it's utter dogshit, which I doubt...probably won't be the best game of the year, but definitely not a travesty).

I'm not a huge fan fan of the original Xenoblade, and word on the next game hasn't been all that positive. And despite what you say, Fallout 4 will likely be really good.

edit: And I'm not sure why you included the story in the list of positives for MGSV, OP. The story is beyond terrible and unfinished. I'd put money on Fallout 4 having a better story, which is really sad.

Haven't the reactions to X been mostly negative from the regions it's out in?

Yeah I thought so too? Rather mehh to okay.

Also MGSV is many things, but its certainly not king of open world, graphics or story. In the first two cases, I believe the new Hitman might surprise people, however Metal Gears legacy will usurp it even if its better.

Not including Fallout 4 or Just Cause 3 is hilarious too. Just sounds like fanboy drivel to me honestly.

Best wishes.

I've heard is good, just that the story does not compare, but still good, which is to be expected

However, if its only half of the original, it will already be a masterpiece

Xenoblade X was really awful. It was like a bad homage to 90s mecha Anime combined with a dead, lifeless MMO. It had none of the charm of the original.

It's going to be massacred come review time.

Oh yeah, Assassin's Creed will take down those 3 games this year.
Yeah no. Hopefully it'll bomb so maybe we'd get something new.
Not sure I'm ready to put Xenoblade in the same category as those other two games. I will never play it so guess it really doesn't matter.
This is what I'm thinking. Why is a Xenogears game in the same group as TW3 or MGS5 or F4?

Fallout 4 will be bigger in everyway than JC3. Easily.

Xenoblade Cross looks like a hot mess, so I'm going to give it a pass. Aside from the ugly looking twat of a partner that was posted earlier (who I was probably going to bench as soon she became available to join my party), everything about the game looks like a complete downgrade to what I loved about Xenoblade Chronicles, especially with the plot & cast of characters.

Looks like Xenoblade X is the only open world game I won't be playing this year since I will never buy a WiiU.

And I'll probably wouldn't miss anything from what I've seen so far.

If it's like XC then it will still be good. Never played an open world game where I would describe the combat as great though.
I don't care for Xenoblade's combat. It's serviceable, but I far prefer traditional turn-based or straight action. You should check out Dragon's Dogma.
