This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Oh, I forgot to mention. Some of the stuff includes things as terrible as Neverdead (which I got two copies by error), others were bought as replacement cases for Dreamcast / EUR PSX. The kind of stuff that would sit well in ET's landfill.

Do the GTA games, pre GTA4, highlight driving routes on the minimap? I had trouble getting around the city in GTA3 but recently loved GTA4 and 5. For their minimap/GPS, it highlights what roads to take and you can set waypoints, etc. If I try to go back to GTA3, Vice City, or San Andreas, is that a feature in those games or no?

What exactly is MGSV: Ground Zeroes? Is it like a prequel to The Phantom Pain or something? Should I play it before The Phantom Pain?

I have been completely out of the loop with the whole MGSV hype.

If you have spare PAL DC game cases, we should talk.

Yes, it's a short preview chapter that explains the story between MGS: Peace Walker and the opening scene in MGS5. You can beat in an hour or two, and then you have another 15-20 hours of optional content. The save game can be exported to MGS5, but I haven't tried that myself yet.

What is up with each ps4 game taking up tons of room on the harddrive? Like dozens of gbs per title. Is it automatically installing the disk or is that how absurd patch sizes have gotten this gen?

so, my brother's setup is as follows:

Sony TV
PS3
Sonos
DirecTV

he says if he hooks up his PS3 directly to his TV (via HDMI) it works perfectly; if he runs it through said Sonos, he gets picture and no sound.

I need to get over there to troubleshoot but i'm not familiar with said Sonos - any ideas what might be going on? appreciate any help offered!

So they're required to play the game? Can I delete them freely to "clean out my fridge" without losing my saves or progress?
You don't need to delete anything until you run out of free space. If you do, then you can safely delete the game part without deleting the saves.

More like clearance games that were bought regardless of its quality, in case I needed to use them for a transplant. Nowadays I'm trying to sell or get rid of all of my DC stuff (not a lot), both "spare case games" and the rest of the stuff. At the moment I'm separating in the box for "For recycling" and the "Gift or sell" one.

Thanks! I don't have my PSP or PS3 near me anymore, but if I can play GZ without playing Peace Walker it's good.

i'm trying to find a youtube channel from a video i watched maybe 2-3 years ago
i think the guy was australian and/or lived there and had a large videogame collection ranging from games to consoles and a lot of arcade machines, in the video he kept talking about how he was moving house to get more room to store everything, iirc the people in the comments were saying he was a son of some famous movie actor or director but i'm not 100% since youtube comments aren't exactly the sort of place for truth most of the time

How enjoyable is a repeat playthrough of the original Bioshock? I've not played it since 2007, and I really enjoyed it, but yeah... Obvious reasons.

As far as I'm aware, it is the same price all over Europe. It's 40€ in Germany.

Played it last year on PC for the third time and it still felt pretty good, specially with steamworks instead of GFW Live. Bioshock 2, on the other hand...

I'm about to buy a second hand PS4 (~2 months old) for a pretty good price, what should I be looking out for? I'm definitely having a close look at the state of the controller, but how should I inspect the system, is there a specific models that are better/worse than other models?

Some units are extra loud, but that is not related to a specific model number.

for the opening theme to Persona 5, this video shows the singer in a booth doing her thing and cuts into the opening animation of the game. she's singing in English but it's a bit hard to tell. My question is, for this and I'm sure a bunch of other Japanese games, why don't they just hire a native English singer?

Ok so my ps4 is (apparently) already in its last legs since i cant play for more than 15 minutes without it turning off itself and going crazy with turning itself on and off consecutively or playing for more that 15 minutes without it spitting the disc like a damn ninja assassin (minor hyperbole, it actually spits the disc out fast enough for it to fall off the console). So i believe its time to send it to warranty but heres the thing, P.T. is in it and i dont know how this whole thing works since ive never had something die on me while still covered by the warranty. Do i get a new console? Do they fix my console and send it back to me fixed but formatted to hell and back?

im just worried for P.T.

With all the limited edition consoles coming out these days and the fact that Street Fighter 5 is exclusive to PS4 (on console), do you think the game will get its own limited edition ps4 console release?

People keep bringin up better IQ as a posivitive for pc. Has anyone ever made some comparisons between games across platforms (link pls?) or is this some kind of theoretical bs that just gets thrown around a lot because reasons... ?
Digital Foundry regularly makes comparisons between PC and home consoles. IQ on PC is better provided that you have a powerful gaming rig. The only exceptions are botched ports and when the PS3 version gets ported instead of the PS4 version.

The drive shouldn't be formatted. That said, your best option would be to back up your drive before sending it in.

Probably!

If I change my gamertag, will that gamertag become available for use?

Yes.

Well done PC ports usually allow for a lot of customization and flexibility. This means with the right hardware, it's possible to run a game on the PC at a higher resolution, with better anti-aliasing and framerate than its console counterparts. Digital Foundry posts "Face Off" platform comparison articles all of the time. While publishers aren't usually upfront about the IQ differences between their different platform SKUs, Konami recently posted a couple of comparison shots for MGS V.

I am fully aware of the graphical possibilities but I did find it surprising that you can actually have a more complex AI for instance in the pc version in comparison to a console version.
All the particle effects and additional physics calculations just give you more visual improvements but more complex AI behavior changes the way you play the game.
A much more interesting and more complex/profound change than mere cosmetics.

Anyone know of any striking differences or good title I can read about that had big non-cosmetic differences between various platforms?

Sometimes they use famous singers to help sell a game with their marketing appeal, and the other reason is that most Japanese consumers can't really tell the difference between good sounding English and bad sounding English most of the time.

So you have something like the openings to Kingdom Hearts where the English sounds perfect outside a few words and then you have the Persona openings where it's decent at best. At least she's trying. :p

I remember being really surprised that Utada Hikaru did both the English and the Japanese versions of the song.

Bit of a shot in the dark...I'm trying to find a game-related video for a research project I'm doing and nothing's coming up. It was a promo video for Left 4 Dead 2 where the host was getting George A Romero's impressions as he watched gameplay of the Mall level (I think). It was potentially a Gamespot video, but nothing seems to show up on their site and YouTube isn't helping. Anyone have any idea what video that might have been or am I crazy?

Yo, IQ means image quality in this context.

Stuff like Dark Souls on PC.

Do I need to play Amnesia: The Dark Descent before A Machine For Pigs to be able to follow and appreciate the narrative?
They are only very loosely connected. Amnesiac protagnoists and a particular magical artifact, that's it. No need to play Dark Descent to understand Machine For Pigs, though I would recommend to do so regardless because it's a pretty neat game.

Another daft question... When will the Transformers Devastation reviews be up? Also, is there a site with the list of all known review embargo dates?

Played it last year on PC for the third time and it still felt pretty good, specially with steamworks instead of GFW Live. Bioshock 2, on the other hand...

Thanks for that.

So.

Did they ever fix Assassin's Creed Unity (PS4)? I know it was really bad at launch, and the first few patches didn't fix everything but at one point I stopped paying attention.

Kinda want to get it if everything checks out

So I just bought a new PS Vita and I want to move my main account over to that instead of my old one. Dealing with Nintendo handhelds in this regard has left me pretty paranoid so I need to double check before I do anything.

Is there any data transfer business I have to deal with to move my stuff over? Can I just format my old Vita, set up my new one with the same account and jam the memory card in? Can I use both systems with the same account at once? Thanks.

Edit: Got it sorted.

Not sure about the 360, but I moved from Europe to the US with a PS4 last year. Only bothered getting a new power cord and so far it hasn't blown up. As far as games go, yes they are region free, but DLC isn't (it's locked to the specific region store your PSN account is with). You wouldn't be able to, for example, buy a game locally in Mexico and then download DLC for it from the EU PlayStation Store - you'd need to open a local (MX? US?) PSN account.

You might as well take them, unless space is an issue and your girlfriend is arguing to pack Grandma's collection of bone china butter dishes or something. If they do end up breaking in Mexico City after some time, then you can buy new ones.

Thanks peeps.

Everything packed and moved yesterday.
I noticed the tv has dual voltage too.

I can't run GTA3, because the gta3.set file is not in C:\Users\Username\Documents\GTA3 User Files

Can somebody either upload theirs or tell me where I can download one? So far I've found one dead rapidshare link, and I don't want to try to many randos for fear of infecting my computer with viruses/spyware.

I'm too lazy to take out my packed-in Vita to check myself (plus I have so little time with my new PS4 I'd rather play a game than check things out which take a while), about how many games can utilise Remote Play? I looked at the back of the MGSV box and was surprised to see it mentioned it but presumed it might be some small mechanic, I didn't think it could actually run it, but in my store when looking around I've noticed a lot of games mention it. Does it work with most titles (as in fully being able to play the game on the Vita) or is it normally just something else? Am I better off looking for a list of games that actually work with it or is there a chance that there's more of a chance that most games do rather than don't work with it?

Everything works that doesn't need the camera.
