I really really like achievements, but I have a few rules for them.

1.) If an achievement is based on collectibles, I skip it.
2.) If an achievement is based on some multiplayer requirement that requires months of play. I don't aim for it.
3.) If an achievement has some one-off goofy but hard to pull off requirement, I make it my life's mission to accomplish it.

if the collectibles are easy , why not , but if they are like AC2 and useless...fuck no ( feather collecting is the worse thing ever )

If a game has single player achievements and multiplayer achievements how is that true?
Again unless it's something crazy like reach the top of the leader board like in some of those XBLA arcade games back in the day or become ranked really high globally for a multiplayer game etc I don't think online achievements are that bad. Then again I only start caring for achievements near the end if I already got most of them by just normally playing the game.

I'm not saying they are bad per se, I'm saying that I do very little multi these days, usually or board games or coop, not to mention that multi of most games on steam is dead, so dead I couldn't get even single multi achievement in some games when I tried.

id argue that AC2 is one of the few games where the collectibles actually matter if you care about the characters in the game.

Kind of a bad example. Did you actually get the feathers, LORD?

For you.
If you want to complain about collectibles on a Assassins Creed, feathers are not the ones that are really bad.

Now the fucking flags in AC1...

Flags were easy peasy, you just needed a map, take notes and have strong resolve to grab them all. Now the Templars were the real fuckers in terms of collectables as some were bastard hard to get to without being spotted with some almost impossible to do without drawing a large crowd of guards to fight off as well.

Whoa, that Battletech Kickstarter is already funded and near 1 million? It stll has 34 days to go.

Holy crap.

Yeah I see what you mean then.
Multiplayer achievements are the worst when the community is completely dead.

That's when I complain myself.

Which is another way of saying they're terrible. Collectibles with no way to track which ones you're already gotten is terrible design. Ideally there's also a way to see their approximate location. (usually after getting over a certain percentage or buying a treasure map etc)

My Steam's birthday is today. 8 years. This, of course, doesn't account for my days on the old olive green client.

And here's a positive spin on the recent SAMgate... it reminded me that I missed the bundle(s) with Spacechem in it and have never caught it on a sale since. But there's a fall sale coming up that could disappoint me!

My idle adventure is winding down. I can't buy anything on Steam until it does so I can show off my grand total. Sneak preview, with minor supplements from a few Dota items: I can buy a Steam Link already with the current total... I have mixed feelings about this.

Come on, Naughty Dog, come back to the platform you started on.
Lots of people on PC pissed about Rise of Tomb Raider being XBone exclusive, no better time to release Uncharted Collection on Steam.

huh?

RotTR is coming to PC sooner than it is to the PS4

and we'll never see uncharted because that's a sony IP and sony hates PCs.

I dont get it

I thought for a second it was ARK: Survival Evolved, but in a second longer I thought no way it's that game. Nope.

Why is Codemasters so good with this game but so terrible at their F1 2015 game?

Why?

Today is the day I stopped caring that I bought the most recent Codemasters F1 game.

Proper Finnish gravel roads! This update is pure gold for me. I no longer have to pretend being a rally driver when driving those very same roads in real life, I can umm.. pretend driving on them in a (semi)-simulation game! Excellent, excellent patch. GOTY, HOTY, and what other abbreviations I can use? MOBA, AoE, all that stuff.

Yeah, rambling a bit. Dirt Rally just got very close to Richard Burns Rally even if it's not as simulation heavy game.

Review threads, review threads never change.

Anywho speaking of the crazy crowdfunding times we're a livin' in, I've pledged more to them this year than I've spent of released games by a factor of 4 to 1! There have been some decent projects this year though as well as some rather nostalgic comebacks come spirtual successors I couldn't pass up on trying to make reality.

As long as you didn't back, well looking at the ones that are going badly, a Japanese kickstarter (dunno about indiegogo) you might be okay. Then again it seems those 2 (Mighty No. 9 and Project Phoenix) seem to just be over their head.

naw, you missed out on one of few genuine character moments in any AC game by not getting the feathers but that's fine, LORD, i wouldn't want to go against your current anti-collector agenda since i'm not that invested in either side, really

i just thought it was ironic that you picked that example given it's one of the few times i ever bothered with collectibles precisely because there was an incentive to do so in the game

To be fair they lost their shit when UC3 got an 8 from Eurogamer.

no one had played the game yet so losing your shit over it period is nonsense. how can you say someone else is wrong when you have no idea yourself?

funny thing is that an 8 is about what i'd give it. Well, i would've given it a 4/5 because ten point scales are dumb
