Lightning Returns planned to launch on PC in December

Sadly, you are probably right. HexaDrive's T0 port wasn't perfect, but at least it was above reproach performance-wise.

I just want a port that is better than XIII-2. A port like XIII is fine by me.

XIII-2 had a horrible framerate.

XIII2 had horrible performance compared to XIII for me. I imagine that's partly due to wider structure of the world, but it also just looked worse off somehow. Gonna keep my expectations low but pocket open because I'm a terrible consumer.

Stuff like this. WTF is going on with the rock?

Yeah well like I said, if it's identical to the iOS version. I don't see what there is to fix there. I'm not even sure if the super sharp tile edges are 'fixable' depending on how they were put together as individual assets.

other than remaking the entire game from the ground up yet again, rather

I still never saw a major difference in performance between FF13 and 13-2. Both have terrible framepacing which make them switch almost arbitrarily between 30 and 60 FPS, but I don't see a huge difference in their behavior.

As for looks, I think FF13-2 is quite a bit less consistent than 13. It's highs are easily up there with its predecessor, but it also has some obvious lows in some areas.

Still, its assets really deserved being rendered with good IQ. I can't say the same about what I've seen of LR :p

Square is gonna have to be extra careful now that refunds exist on steam. They won't make much money if they release a shit tier port.

I bought both XIII and XIII-2. Loved XIII never finished the second one tho. I will pick up LR at the right price.

The parts where LR goes indoors look pretty damn nice. Intro and final dungeon for example.

(Too bad it's a really tiny percentage of the game's total content)

Is Square doing internally this PC ports of the XIII trilogy?

I'd like an updae on the FFVII PC version port to PS4 too, thankyouverymuch.....

It'll be amazing if this still has the same framerate problems as 13 and 13-2 despite the lengthy delay after 13-2.

The delay probably had nothing to do with fixing the port.

They were probably just busy with making their DiveIn stuff work.

And now they're just going back to porting after shutting that down lol.

I do wonder how the refund stuff will be for this one though...

Lightings Return is the only one I haven't played, so I'll definitely check it out.

Sadly, this is most likely true. They would sooner leave it to the mod community to get their pc ports to modern standards than fix it themselves.

I don't even think that's the case.

I just don't think they care (that is, if they even know...).

I hope they'll at least put an option to lock the fps at 30 lol, and yet I know that is asking too much.

Hell yeah. Obligatory: get X and X-2 up there too, you'll have my sale for sure.*

*I already own the PS3 version

I could downsample from 4k in FF13 with solid 30 fps in battles. 13-2 only ran with unstable FPS (anything 20-60) in 1080p (AMD 7950). On top of that I had to replay the first hour multiple times until I figured out that I had to disable cloudsaving or else achievements were broken.

Ratings are mediocre, why should I play this game?

Unique combat, good pacing, animations, visual effects, and soundtrack.

There's an annoying time limit on everything; it's generous, but doesn't add anything to the gameplay, so it's better to hack it out asap.

LR's system is one of the most fun I've ever played in an RPG. The only complaint I have is that it takes a while before it actually becomes fun. In the beginning, I feel like the ATB bars take too long to reload until you unlock certain accessories and weapons. It also takes a while to unlock more interesting skills. Definitely go through everything on a second playthrough on Hard, since everything carries over. Replays are a blast.

There's that ability (forget the name now) that allows you to temporarily stop time and you can essentially exploit the hell out of it to have almost as much time as you want.

Didn't realize people actually liked this game. Thought it was an awful experience that truly showed where SEs head was at last gen. Glad to see its finally coming for those who have been waiting. Maybe we can get some mods to fix things up.

Honestly the only issue with time limit is some of the early quest that require you to be at some place on time and if you miss it you have to wait until next day.

After a while you have far too much time in your hands and you end up finishing everything...I hated it and then I liked it in the sense that everyone has different results with it. But it is true that it serves no purpose and I also disliked levelling up through side quests rather than XP.

Neir had mediocre ratings too.

Mediocre ratings for a game like this only means it has divided opinions because it tries something different that people may or may not like.

It's a good game with great gameplay, it's also among one of the toughest JRPGs made which easily makes it the hardest FF game out there. Coupled up with the good combat it feels very rewarding.

Chronostasis i think. Once you get used to it its incredibly easy to manage time with it. Just make sure to keep your...AP i think it was, up high enough for another cast

This was my only real complaint. I understand a lot of it had to do with monsters going extinct making it hard to balance XP, but it made the progression feel a little weird. Fortunately I had a lot more fun with the side quests in this game than the vast majority of RPGs

Game was great, only problem I had was the visuals really. Seriously took a hit from XIII-2, they might as well have not used any textures for alot of the random clutter

Yea the side quests are alright.
Lightning has hilarious one liners for some of them.

Great, looking forward to replaying this. Never got around doing the hard mode, and I didn't really ever get 100% right the battle system.

Played FF13 and FF13-2 on PS3, then decided to wait for LR on Steam when they announced it. Took them a while.
Games are hilarious, 13-2 in particular has "so bad it's good" moments, and playing it in synch with a friend really made it shine for me. Still, all this talk about bad performance on PC is unsettling, I really hope they took all this time between 13-2 and LR to make a good port this time.
