Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

Fries are the best easily. I never liked their nuggets.

Bring back the Chicken Selects! Are those new Buttermilk Crispy Tenders the same thing, different, or close enough?

That was a damn good fix, too.

I guess I would side with fries since I always get them.
But this feels too much like advertising for my liking. Is this an actual debate among the Japanese or is it just McD giving Nintendo a fat cheque?

Yeah it's super fucked up. They don't have a combo for it or even a 10 piece. It's either 5 pieces or 15. What a backwards country this is

That said fries are the obvious choice. I love me some nugs of questionable origin but you can't beat those processed potatoes. Especially if you dunk them in ice cream. Seriously, try it if you haven't.
I t sounds super weird but goggle says it's an actual thing people do... Maybe I'll try it next time.
Any particular flavor you recommend?

You would have hated Splatoon 1, Japan had 4 Splatfests with products.

How absolutely fucked - advertising like that in a game we already paid for. Made even worse by it being toxic, shit food being fed to kids.

Ok, but were those instances of an actual rivalry or just Nintendo chasing advertising money? I'm fine with using real brands if it's an actual source of debate.

Still, advertising fast food in a game with a large kids demographic makes Nintendo look bad either way.

Let's be honest, everyone complaining about this is really just annoyed that they now have cravings for some McD's.

E: I've never been to Japan, and I'm sure it's still not good for you, but I'm fairly certain advertising McDonalds to Japanese kids and family is a lot different than it would be if America were to do so. What with our ridiculously oversized portions, and much cheaper prices (isn't it like $4 for a burger over there?).

Okay after typing that out, the portion size is the biggest thing, actually. A large fries to go with a burger isn't rare at all in the States, but I've seen pictures of Japan's fry portions and they're waaaay smaller. And considering fries are more unhealthy than the burgers/chicken, that's a good thing.

I tried my hardest to make this not come across as an "I'm an expert" post, hopefully it didn't. Just saying again that I don't actually live in or research Japan, I'm just going off of what I've seen on the Net over the years.

Um guys?

This kind of stuff isn't new. They've done product advertisements before. And that one was about an annoying sponge.

Me playing on Team Patrick didn't make me want to buy all the Spongebob products.

Some of you guys are crazy. This is not for America or Europe, man. I'm pretty sure Japan eats a healthier diet than most other countries lol, even with McDonald's in there.

This is an awesome idea. I sadly can never see this going down well in UK though, with the anti obesity and anti commercialism watchdogs. Gotta protect them kids from wanting McDonalds...

Some art pics.

Some remain defiant.

Also, Japan had a lot of crossover Splatfests for Splatoon 1 in Japan.

Maruchan Kitsune Udon vs. Maruchan Tanuki Soba (twice!)
Kirin Lemon Tea vs. Kirin Milk Tea
Dragon Quest: Go all out vs. Focus on healing
711: Tuna Mayo Onigiri vs. Red Salmon Onigiri
Meiji Takenoko vs. Meiji Takenokonosato (chocolate snack)

One of the reasons I was excited to pick up the JPN version was because I am looking forward to the fun crossovers. No matter what, we always get rad art.

Fries and it ain't even close. Could you imagine convincing yourself to eat at McD's if fries wasn't a part of the equation?

That being said, the (un)holy goodness that is Sweet N Sour Sauce for nuggets isn't even available in Japan. I have to vote against nuggets on principle alone.

Why are people calling this out? It's a harmless promotional event. Same with the other three that already happened on the first game. If you're just now complaining about this then you're a little late to the party.

They did it with Transformers, they did it with Spongebob and they did it with another brand as well.
