Don't pre-order games. Stop it.

Watched a an hour or so play though on YouTube and seems actually alright game only issue i seen is animations outside of combat are kind of slow while combat it like somebody hit the turbo button looks weird as fuck.

Also the usual writing for English people is annoying as fuck I swear we don't talk like everyone in Oliver Twist irritating they went for that stereotype although I do laugh at subtitles putting certain English words in brackets.

Example

" you lost your bottle (nerve)"

why would you pre-order a game and then ask a question like this?? Just wait for it to come out and get impressions like that and then buy it if you want.

Ubisoft might as well have called the game "Assassin's Creed Apathy", because there's no excitement or hype whatsoever surrounding this game. This IP is on its way down fast. Maybe the movie and a complete revamped new AC game in 2017 can turn things around but I'm not exactly hopeful.

I think the game they're planning to release in 2016 should be delayed by a year, have some of its principal gameplay systems revamped and they should put out Watch Dogs 2 in the same window instead. It's a perfect opportunity to allow the AC games a bit more breathing room and allow WD to prosper in its stead.

Man, all this negativity surrounding AC makes me kind of not want to enter topics about the games at all. At least my friends enjoy the games, so I can talk to them without being bummed out by everyone talking about just how much the games suck.

I've played every (mainline) AC game and I enjoyed every single one of them.
And I'm sure I will enjoy Syndicate. Hell, I'm more excited for the game than last year because there is no multiplayer or mobile app. Just single player content. Also, I'm excited for the Jack the Ripper campaign.

Don't really care about performance issues. The issues Unity had everyone rages about didn't negatively influence my time with the game, so I'm sure it won't bother me in Syndicate, considering it most likely has improved performance.

Im a huge Assasins Creed fan and I just preordered Syndicate.

Ive played through all the games except Unity, that ones a buggy mess.

Am I going to regret my purchase?
Anyone else hyped about the new game?

That we'll see this friday, but I am hyped as well ;) Preorder stands so I hope I get it a bit early since I took the day off to play it.

Lets be honest the only truly bad game was 3 because the pacing, main character etc. Unity was good jus had too many technical problems. The hate this series gets is purely of the fact it's annual(like cod for no reason)

Not really, Unity's combat is incredibly janky and un-fun, as is the arbitrary levelling requirement to take on some enemies.

I've played every AC game except Rogue (fixing that this week) and Unity just isn't a good example of AC. What it does right (improved parkour, more open ended assassinations) don't make up for the completely uninteresting and annoying characters (Arno in particular is completely unlikeable), nonsense story, lack of modern day tie-in, muddy graphics (I played on PC and I swear everything STILL had a vaseline filter on it) and poor gameplay.

3 is actually a fun game with poor pacing.

The last mainline title had serious issues and as a result people are extremely wary of this one. Surely it's not hard to understand, even if you don't share the same hesitance? Not to mention the more than annual releases were already grinding people down on the series long before Unity even released.

I am looking forward to it and I am getting it Day One.

I have seen nothing I didn't like and the previews have generally been positive.

I trust Ubisoft to make this game play a lot better. I gave leeway because it's a new generation and they are usually buggy. Plus the big apology at E3 shows they are serious.

I use to enjoy this series. I played unity, 100%it. I enjoyed it even with the bugs but I have no hype for this one. Usually ubisofts games drop in price fairly quick. I will wait for 30 bucks or less.

I disagree about 3 being a bad game. I don't think the series actually had a "bad" game yet.
Sure, Connor had some problems as a character, the game had pacing problems and other smaller stuff. It also had the worst main city of all the games yet.

But it also had really great moments. The homestead and interactions with Achilles were great. Ship missions were cool and gave us AC4/Rogue. Loved the snowy frontier and overtaking forts.

I miss the present day stuff though :(

Being wary is one thing. Outright shitting on the game (or the whole series) is another. Just read some of the posts in the other Syndicate thread.

Assassin's Creed III had some great bits that weren't done before - big open areas, the silly hunting mechanic and pretty self-contained crafting.

I completed Unity on PS4 and it has amazing art direction. Plus the setting and atmosphere were superb. Everything that dragged it all into the ground was the spotty technical side.

Syndicate has an equally thrilling setting and the atmosphere looks to be in the right place again. Cannot comment on the technical side just yet. Let's just say that with Unity, Ubi ventured into the 8th console generation and they weren't quite sure what they were doing. I hope this new iteration fares better.

The game does have a Jack the Ripper section though. As a mad serial killer lore fan, this is a must play.

Me, along with GAF, think it's horrible.

There's tons of more stuff than what's just in the OP, too.

Please, PLEASE don't take any previews seriously, especially when it comes to AC.

Wait a day or two after release for reliable, first-hand impressions, watch footage on Youtube or Twitch.

My thoughts on that game too although thinking back id give it a 6/10 which to me personally isn't to bad so i take back what i said.

Your second point is what i don't like. Its getting annoying now. Especially when the game actually looks good and previews positive

You make it sound like you and GAF not liking something makes it automatically fact that everyone has to hate the game.
Hint: I (and others) still enjoyed the game.

Also, if anyone thinks AC3 actually is a horrible game... I just don't know what to say. That's a ridiculous exaggeration.

You can say you didn't like the game. Or you can say the game wasn't very good, or even a bad one. But the game is far from being horrible.
With statements like that I wonder if people have actually played a horrible game yet.

The Gabe Newell simulator... now THAT is a horrible game.

From what I have seen gameplay wise and I have read I am happy enough to give money on the Big Ben Edition.

Not a day one, but if it runs better than Unity did I'll make it a $20 buy next summer. I'm curious if they learned from Unity aside from the technical performance. Paris was impressive in its size but design I found the map slightly boring.

Unity, after however many patches (I bought it this past summer for $20), was an okay game.

Kind of hoping these issues get fixed in Syndicate:

I've been bouncing between Unity and Rogue since I found them relatively cheap on Amazon. I'll just say I recommend Rogue a lot more.

I was actually considering an lttp thread for Unity in spite of only finishing up to Sequence 5.

There's a solid game in there somewhere but a lot of it frustrates me. It's a stalemate. I think the freerunning feels clunky. Not awful when exploring, just cumbersome. It's when you're being chased or in conflict that shit seems to hit the fan but maybe that's more on me. I can't imagine what this game was like when it launched.

Combat is like a step forward and then two back. It's like they wanted it to be more than the counter insta-kills of the past and now focuses on timed parry attacks, which is fine. My issue is the combat seems to go off without a hitch if you're taking on like 2-4 people with low-tier health, but once 6-10 show up and they have higher health it drags out and it's not fun and it's frustrating.

I also don't get why they removed certain mechanics from past games, like the 'human shield' one especially when enemies are pistol happy in the ensuing chaos. Or hidden stabbing in thick smoke, or tagging enemies in Eagle Vision when now it's this short thing with a cooldown period instead of a toggle, etc.

I do like that you now have a reason to upgrade weapons and equipment despite my frustrations with combat. I think Paris is a great looking world but also exemplifies how much this series needs a "less is more" approach, which is I suppose why Rogue is more appealing to me. Assassinations are also a step in the right direction, allowing you to sort of plan and find alternate ways to make the job easier.

Part of me actually really hopes Syndicate improves on the combat and the exploration but we're gonna be eight years into this franchise and it's seeming like this series will have piqued at AC II, or IV.

I feel the same. GAF is way too hard on this series but I'll enjoy all of the games anyway. :p Will definitely pick this one up too.

I'm looking forward to the "we're really taking our time with the PC version to really make it shine" quote sarcastically pasted onto screenshots of glitches and disappointing benchmarks.

Wait a minute, it's got Jack the Ripper DLC? I missed that.

Can you play as him in multiplayer? Any other murderers?

It's the Freedom Cry studio that is doing this one right? That was cool, and Syndicate will probably be alright, like all the other games before it. It probably won't capture the magic of Brotherhood, but it will be a decent 12-16 hours with it.
