Assassin's Creed: Syndicate leaks early, PS4 impressions not... great.

Game is too much for consoles to handle and has bad framerate = people complain

sequel runs better = people complain game is ugly.

If that post is true then AC:S apparently has frame rate issues too.

Those damning impressions are *exactly* what I expected based on last years debacle and the mediocre at best hype for Syndicate.

Hopefully this does poorly enough that Ubi takes a year or two off and give the franchise a chance to recover. I'm still so pissed I paid full price for Unity last year, even after the patches made it almost playable everything about the game itself was so tired and disappointing (other than the pretty great graphics and environments).

not a chance, this one will sell just as well, if not better than unity and we'll get more assassin's creed next year.

I totally believe this is how Assassin's Creed dies... Every single thing is pointing to this being the end. No, they'll keep making AC games, but it's effectively dead now.

(Reads one Reddit post, ignores all GAF posts to the contrary in this very thread):

"A-ha! Suspicions confirmed!"

yep, I dont understand what people are doing. Several youtubers, gaffers, and just other people who have the game early have all said it is very smooth and a huge step up from Unity in every way possible...in performance and gameplay
I dont get why everyone is circle jerking over this one persons post

Well he doesn't have the day one patches, so it's not complete. No need to jump to conclusions.

It's great, too. Definitely the best Assassin's Creed game since the first, which was the best of the whole series before. Highly recommend it. Loved it. A+ game.

Very excited for Syndicate based on how great Unity was.

Is this a Crossing Eden alt account? Or a parody?! I can't believe someone would defend a game's poor state by saying that he needs to install the day one patch(es) before he can judge it.

They probably scrapped a lot of unity's stuff and pulled in new code.
Hey, turns out a year isnt enough to make a game these days.

This has disaster written all over it.

These games are released annually, but they're not made in a year. There are several different dev teams working on different instalments at a time, and I think they get the usual 3-4 years development each.

Because it's what they want to hear.

It's negative about an Ubisoft games, there's nothing more to it really. Some people are always ready to jump on Ubisoft throat no matter the subject, I mean in the other thread some people are arguing that Assassin's Creed (the first 1) was not a risk and not innovative.

And let's not forget all those people that are genuinely saying that all AC games plays the same.

Because a lot of people apparantly want this game to be shit, love a good faux outrage.

It's getting kind of silly.

Oh, look, it's exactly as we all expected.

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate |OT| Oh, that's why they didn't go with 'Victory'.

Well that's that. I was afraid I might have to buy this at some point since I enjoyed Black Flag a lot and I think Victorian London might be the perfect setting for an AC game. But I'll still wait for the reviews.

It is simple. Many GAF members don't like Ubisoft and they want Ubisoft to fail and shut down. They hate it so much that they don't care that 9000+ people will be out of job. So this reactions are not surprising at all.

Thanks for fucking both of my most wanted see historical moments and cities in AC, Ubisoft.

Fuck you Ubi!

EDIT
Seems there are also some more positive impressions. Hoping it looks great on PC and have the fun of 2 and BH.

Ruh roh, those impressions are rough. The guy sounds fairly level-headed and articulate, and I'm legit shook that Ubisoft would release this game if it wasn't ready. This could be a train wreck if the guy is right.

I didn't know this game was releasing on Friday until I heard about it on the Kinda Funny Gamescast. They need to put this series away for a bit and let some ideas circulate. There's just not enough appeal in doing the same thing in every game just in different locations. At least in Black Flag they had the sailing and different activities associated with that.

GUESS WERE DONE HERE
Precisely. The cool thing to do these days is to crap on this series, even though the installment prior to Unity is fantastic, which came out only two years ago. Forgive me, NeoGAF, but I'm going to wait to play this installment myself before hating on it. I'm not just going to trust one random guy's opinion. Shocking stuff I'm writing here, I know.

I wonder what Ubisoft would do if this one didn't sell well. The weird thing about the development cycles is that the next AC game after Syndicate should already be halfway finished by now, and would be more influenced by the complaints about Unity than this game.
I think they just need to give the franchise a year off. Give the devs 3 years to make the next one so they can have enough breathing room to do something new with the franchise.

I have changed my tune and still want to give Syndicate a try, but I do agree. It needs a break and a fresh direction for sure.

Why not just wait an extra year and let the team do what they have to to fix as much as they can? I don't get it. You don't see Rockstar putting out a GTA every year and they're still around and doing well.

Ubisoft needs to take a breath, especially with regards to Assassin's Creed.

You have Assassin's Creed coming out every year. You've saturated the market with them and devalued the brand as a result.

For you.
People still defend this franchise, unbelievable!
I'm amazed people still attack it and circlejerk on how terrible it is based on a random redditor while ignoring all positive impressions because LOL, positive impressions dont count.

People like you would always believe the one guy saying it's bad even if Ubisoft made the best Assassins Creed ever. Confirmation bias at work and all that.

Actually you are incorrect in your assumption, but since you clearly presume to know me so well i will not even attempt to clarify my viewpoint.

I'd say the series is officially dead after this one. I haven't seen any marketing whatsoever and it comes out Friday, I think Ubi knows it's dead as well.

Why can't the guy take a photo of the game or like a video or something?

A disc and a the common defense of "why would I spend time doing this" means fuck all for credibility.

Not that I trust Ubisoft either.

I missed all those positive impressions. Game seems better of Unity but far away to be the best AC ever from the walkthrough. I think Ubi need to refresh seriously this brand and not fix some things here and there following casual feedback .

I don't know who that is, but I'll wait for the game to actually release - with the expected patches - before I act like a cunt about a kideo game.

I wish you would patch Raw to be a good show.

It already is

Well, there is a ton of footage out there right now from people who are indeed playing the game. Maybe you could check that out and listen to their impressions.

Franchise is "dead" imo and Ubi knows it. Has this game even gotten any marketing? haven't seen any myself and there's zero hype for it.

I know a few people buying it but even one of them didn't even know it was coming out this year until I asked if he was getting it, and he loves AC. Even Unity somehow.

I don't think there will be an AC next year, I'm guessing Watch Dogs 2 will replace it and reboot AC and come back with some fresh ideas in 2017. They have to or they will run the franchise right into the ground from what I can see.

Bullshit
I'm not an Ac fan, the only two I liked was Ac2 and Black Flag. i think the real issue of Unity is the boooooooring gameplay and not the technical problems.

I think Syndacate, after just a couple of hours, is one of the best game in the franchise.

Your turn, haters

That's my hope! Unity, once patched, looked and ran fine, if a bit muddy and slow, but holy shit it was just a goddamn bore.
