Yeah, Splatoon is probably going to hit 3 million by the end of the first half of the new fiscal year. Fantastic result, given the context. I really hope this tells Nintendo that they need newer, younger developers heading important projects for their platforms.
Kind of reminds me of Majora's Mask. Aonuma and Koizumi were both in their early-mid 30s and pretty new to creative roles. They assisted Miyamoto on Ocarina of Time and then were tasked with making a sequel. For both of them, it was their first big project as directors. Game was ace, and now both of them hold high positions at NCL. Stories like that and Splatoon need to be more common for a company that prides itself on entertainment for all types of people the way Nintendo does.

Yeah, who are they going to target for continued brisk sales, current Wii U owners or potential ones? Why hasn't Shiggy gone on Colbert or Conan and showed off Mario Maker? I think it's a system seller for Gen X'ers who grew up on SMB and have deep nostalgia feels for it.

Next update, MK8 will be easy over 6.5m, and will be well over Super Circuit. It will also easy beat DD.
Splatoon sucess is pretty crazy. it's very close to becoming bigger then the biggest Metroid and F-Zero games in just this year and on the worst performing console Nintendo has released.
i can't imagine how the game would do on a console that actually sells and is popular.
Splatoon will sell over 10 million on NX.
