Looks like Nintendo changed some outfits for Lin in Xenoblade X

Hm... Is the shorts part of that censorship too, or is it just showing different chest armor/bras? It seems like for the bra they just added some kind of armored sports bra to her base model, with the bras, without any visual change, appearing over that, but the shorts look like they're completely covering the bikini bottoms, and they seem to be identical in both pictures. It also seems like they're the same shorts from her initial equipment. That could mess up either other characters' equipment or other equipment worn by her if those shorts are part of the censorship rather than just unchanged standard gear.

Since she now isn't dressing like a 13 year old trying to dress like a college girl on halloween night why change her to 15? I mean there is nothing questionable about the new wardrobe.

Fucking NoA. This is what happens when they handle localizations. Can we go back to NA not getting franchises llike Fatal Frame or Xenoblade, so NoE can be the one localizing them considering they don't bother with this censoring horseshit?

You realise now censored ff2 Wii edition right?

Oh god, now that I think about it, #FE will be censored to hell and back too. Fuck this shit, WiiU was the last Nintendo console I've ever bought.

What if Japanese fans reacted badly to Lin's outfit and the change is actually intended in order to produce a more positively received product?

Character age aside (which I think is a big part of it) it does come off as odd considering some of the late game costumes in Xenoblade Chronicles (which were also unchanged for the 3DS port).

But fuck you treehouse, sooner NOE take over NOA, the better seems to be a meme these days.

hate to break it to ya but NOE localized and censored Fatal frame 5 none of the treehouse members or there mention is in the credits for the game only NOE staff. NOA pulled a xenoblade and jsut changed the region code and tossed it onto the eshop.

Maturity, bitches.
The off camera shot has been taken at a downwards angle. That is the likely cause of the proportions looking different. Also looks slightly squashed in since her head is weirdly elongated compared to the one of the right.

I think you're joking, but just in case you're not, the changes being shown off are from an European build of the game and the changes in Fatal Frame were done by NOE as well.

The original was over the top and embarrassing and needed to be changed.

But... Geez, they could have done better. Maybe it will look better in motion.

The game lets you preserve the armor stats while being able to look like any other armor, doesn't it?

I'm really happy about this, a friend of mine online is so pissed off that they change her age and called it censorship...i'm not for censorship but this is really appropriate. Good job Nintendo.

I don't care at all about any of this...

But seriously guys, can't you see the first pic is an offscreen pic that was taken at an angle close to the screen? That's why it's deformed >.>

He is.

Cannot comprehend this view. Are you saying her first outfit is fine and appropriate?

Why the fuck would they even dress a thirteen year old character like that in the first place?!

The equipment in Xenoblade X was universal for each gender, rather than having character specific designs. Like I said in my post above, for the bras, what NoA has done seems to be to add an armored sports bra to her base model, with the bikini tops appearing over that when equipped.

I'm not sure what they've done regarding the bottom there though. Those shorts she's shown wearing there are just her initial shorts. So, either they've done something where the appearance of her shorts never changes, which would be pretty messed up for various equipment sets, or they just changed the bikinis to have the same appearance as her shorts, which might mean appearance changes for other characters too. Of course, alternatively, there's also the chance that the post was misleading and she isn't actually equipping the bikini bottom there, just the top.

See her original initial gear for comparison

The localized outfit actually looks like, you know. an actual outfit. The original costume does not even qualify as a swimsuit.

Really? Blame NA when some EU countries are far more strict about this stuff by law? You are a funny little one aren't you?

Definitely an improvement. I must be the only person who thinks "I wouldn't go around killing monsters and doing acrobatics without at least wearing a sports bra". And seriously, 13?

the person on Twitter just told me he only changed the top (added that to OP). The pants are just the default one, but I'm pretty sure it'll also look different than the JP version ^^

Why are they putting a 13 year old girl in a skimpy bikini in any version of the game?

I mean, 13 year olds wear swimsuits. If every character gets a swimsuit I don't see a problem with it (no idea if they do).

But I don't have a problem with this change either, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I usually don't like censorship but it's totally justified here. The new costume looks way better anyway. Did they also change the length of her legs though, or is it because of the camera angle?

Man one of the thing I hated about the original Xenoblade is how at times the best armour was a bikini for the girls and Swim shorts with no shirt for the guys..... it was just stupid both in how it looked and in the context of the game.

Seems like the Japanese version of Xenoblade X took it to a whole new level. So Im glad they at least changed that
