UNCHARTED 4 Multiplayer Beta: PGW demo info

I don't like classes, sidekicks, and mysticals (perks), especially the auto revive thing, but oh well. Ugh, I'm just feeling really down on this. It feels like a sequel to UC3 MP, when I was hoping it would be more a sequel to UC2 MP. Oh well.

Am I the only one who thinks that Sidekicks are a fucking brilliant idea? I wonder if we'll be able to control them

The way I see it this is a step in the right direction. They cut away bullshit like 'kickbacks' and 'boosters' and have instead given us a set of active items (which will probably be customisable).

Yeah. Bear in mind, though, that the downed state was in UC3, too. Wasn't very similar to TLOU's, however.

But yes, IIRC split screen will be in the game.

You can't control sidekicks. I actually like the idea of them less than mysticals, because it adds a level of unpredictable control-- if the A.I is too good, people will complain, if it's not good enough, they will be worthless. I'm wondering how specifically good the sniper will be

I fully believe boosters will be in the final game. They probably just didn't add them for this build. Though I actually prefer that Naughty Dog add them in differently, or not at all.

Making boosters store purchases, or pick ups would be amazing in my opinion. Picking up a booster that makes you climb faster for 45 seconds, or picking a booster that lets your ADS and move fast, or picking up a booster that gives you extra grenades.

It'd be far less important than picking up power weapons, but it'd give you added bonuses for controlling the map.

I think mysticals are a whole lot better than kickbacks, but I just hope Djinn isn't too unbalanced, and that the other two that they haven't revealed are equally valuable. Worse, I hope they don't add boosters that let you buy things for cheaper (Quick Boom + that one booster that reduced your medal requirements was a nightmare in UC3). At least mysticals don't sound as hard to balance as kickbacks, provided Naughty Dog keeps a simple, small list of them without going crazy.

Making everything in-game purchasables really is a lot better for balance, so I do hope that everything they do is tied to the in-game economy.

The potential for teamwork is also pretty great if you can buy things for the whole team. Though it makes me wonder if playing with randoms will be inherently frustrating as a result

Also, UC3 didn't have downed states, and split-screen is most likely not happening :p

So far sounds so good. I'd like an increase of players though. Like a 10 vs 10 in a large map with vehicles. Two man dirt bike battles would be awesome.

"Classes" is a mistranslation. They are just pre-made loadouts to complement the fully customizable loadouts, just like TLoU had them (can't remember if U3 had them as well).

Although the final version of the game will have a more robust loadout editor, I picked “support” (I do love being helpful) and brought Elena into the field (#TeamElena).

Really looking forward to giving this a shot. It looks like a lot of fun. The new movement and combat looks great. I'm a bit skeptical of the partners but that's what a beta is for.

Sweet. I didn't expect Cutter. I thought they'd ditch all UC3 characters.
Did anybody ask naughty dog about split screen online returning?
With ugly 900p they freaking better.
I've got a recollection that it was divulged/discovered somehow. Somebody spilt the beans by accident or something. I can't remember what thread it was in.

But yes, IIRC split screen will be in the game.

YES! Finally some good news! :D
Hope you're able to swap R1+L1 for R2+L2.

I see all this "press L1 for grappling hook" bullshit and I'm all "but that's how you aim, yo." That's the purist in me, though, I guess.

Also, dear god, I hope they get rid of the radar.

It pisses me off too. It is a poison that has infected PS this gen.

Uugggghhh.

I do not like the sound of:
Mysticrap
AI schmucks
"Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!"
Buying power weapons. It'll be just like U3 where the best players kept buying paid boosters every match to overpower themselves/their team.
No weapons scattered around the map. Have fun fighting camping teams 90% of the time...

Should've expected crap like this from the people that thought 1.05, Quick Boom, Kickbacks, Powerplays and Overtime were good ideas but still...

Hope, is a terrible thing.

Can you try and see if its possible to grapple let go and switch to another grapple point mid air?

Also no stealth kills now huh? Kind of liked those.

No. The closest two grapple points are near the start point of villains or heroes, they are not connected. Others aside mid-way are single.

Stealth kill... You can kick down someone hanging, or grab down someone while hanging.

Looks nice. Would like it if you could modify matches to not include buddies and the mystical stuff. Just in case you want to just have a basic death match. That stuff still looks cool though and I think it will be fun but I just hope we have the option to customize the matches.

Why worried?
Every time you buy the stuff, the price will go up a lot.

I do not like the sound Djinn at all. The other two sound perfectly fine for strategic and team support purposes.

I actually wish Djinn just jammed enemy radar or gave your team invisibility or something...actually, I hope the other mystical does just that.

Djinn is not super. You can kill them, and it's actually not that hard. But you know sometimes people groups together to have never party. It's your perfect time then.

Because I'm a fan of "less is more."

U2 style MP with a few additions -- sliding, ziplines, swinging stuff -- is what I want.

I don't want people pulling RPGs out of their ass while their sidekick materializes out of thin air and their teammate turns into a flaming, teleporting cockroach.

Perhaps you should wait till the beta before you completely write it off, because the previews mention that it all feels quite balanced.

Oh, I am.

I just know what I will like and what I will not like, I rarely ever have my opinion changed.

Like with the Souls series: I knew from every preview, review, gameplay video and impressions read that I would absolutely hate the games. I decided (against my better judgement) to pick up Dark Souls because of the glowing GAF talk and that it was only $20.

Should've listened to myself, I hate that series.

All of those features (AI, mystic stuff) sounds quite exciting to me. As long as it's balanced relatively well, I don't mind.

If they manage to pull the balance off, it's shaping up to be an extremely unique experience.

Price raising is a good feature from Last of Us.

Fair enough about the Djinn mystical. An Invisibility mystical would be fun I think.

How do you feel about no weapon pick ups, or pick ups of any kind? Don't you think the game will fundamentally change as a result of people not being incentivized to traverse, explore, and hold key points in the map? It's what I love about Halo and Uncharted MP, now I don't know any game that does it :(

How does this compare to the Last Of Us multiplayer?

Totally different. Lots of jumping, climbing, and use of Fully automatic guns, and grenades. They did bring over the parts system and the down/revive system though.

I absolutely agree with you, but it's clear that we have to let it go and just hope UC4 works out just fine. One thing that I absolutely love is that grenade spam sounds like it's ALL GONE!

No more spawning with 2-3 grenades and throwing them like hell. Honestly, I didnt like that in Uncharted... I just hope they don't have a booster that gives you like 3 grenades, though I am actually confident they can balance it out-- the Pick 13 system in Last of Us was a godsend to booster balance.

Djinn is not actually invisible. Hard to describe that, just like in UNCHARTED3, it suddenly moves quick.

Not in beta yet , doesn't mean it won't be in the formal game.
After killing the enemy, you can get ammo supply. Otherwise, ammo will run low and you can not buy it from the store so far.
The map itself prevents camping I think. If you actually walk around the map, there is no that kind of safe point, especially with grappling points. Also, you got El Dorado, Sniper rifle, Sniper sidekick to call, won't be hard to deal with group of campers I guess.
The fastest and greatest kill so far I have, is running to enemies' back. Really fun.

I played a lot of UC2 and UC3 beta, and I like UC4 after trying.
Don't be afraid.

In b-roll footage, I saw Lazarevic hold Grappling hook (charging it I think) and doing a stealth kill.

I haven't seen b-roll. But if you jump down from grappling hook and melee someone.
It's always and the only way to get one hit melee kill. It does not matter if it's stealth or not, I think.

You can edit your post to reply all the posts. I think rule doesn't allow you post more than 1 post until someone posts after yours.

What buttons are used for the grapple melee finisher. Is it just hitting X to release from grapple and land on someone or do you have to hit Square?

El Dorado: Like a bomb. After you throw that out, it will have ghosts chasing the enemies nearby and hit them down.
Djinn: You are the man on fire. Press circle can let you rush though. You just need 2 hit to melee down an enemy when Djinnn is on.
Chintamani Stone: It revives you automatically when you are down, not only once, but all in its active time. The teammates around you in the effect area and yourself will regenerate health continually.

The cintamani stone seems to be OP as hell. The in-game currency thing seems alright..balancing will be key. Elena doesn't seem like U4 SP Elena at all from all the footage I've seen. Mind you most of it is crappy.

I'm afraid with that:
Sidekicks
Sidekicks are AI controlled, which you use money to hire them.
They can be killed, but they are not dumb actually. So be careful.

Chaser: They rush to the enemy and hold them up.
Sniper: They stand and shoot with sniper.
Savior: They revive you and your teammates nearby.

Mystical
Mystical can be achieved, by buying them with money in the store.
Then you press R1 to active the mystical. It seems that you don't get tougher when using mystical.
If you died and the mystical is unused, it's still there for next life.
If you died and the mystical effect is still on, which means probably some time left still, and you will continue to have the effect on you in next life, until the counter clock comes to 0.
U2 was the best MP game I've played because it was simple, arcade.

I hope I'm wrong and it has nothing to do with U3 perks, but these additions seem unnecessarily complex.

I can't wait to try thto beta, but my initial thoughts on what has been revealed thus far have been pretty meh. Classes, superpowers, radar, AI partners and downing enemies all sound bad to be frank. I just can't wrap my head around the decisions to put these things in uncharted multi. Uncharted 2 was so much better than 3 because 3 was so bogged down with nonsense and 4 looks like even MORE despite everyone crying out for a return to form lol. Hope I'm wrong and it's a lot of fun, guess I'll know for sure in December.
