NIS America is bringing the Experience-developed dungeon RPG Stranger of Sword City to PS Vita both physically and digitally in North America on March 22, 2016 and in Europe on March 25, the publisher announced.

The dungeon RPG from the makers of Demon Gaze takes a more western approach, infusing the game with themes of dark fantasy, new elements, and the ability to compete with other players through online leaderboards. It is a game about death and disappearance where the choices you make have meaning.

Get the full rundown below, via NIS America:

Story

Your flight crashes after passing through a mysterious portal. As the sole survivor, you awaken to an unfamiliar land lit by stars you’ve never seen. This land is Escario, the city of swords. Quickly marked as the Chosen One, the Stranger of Sword City, you must defend this place, and choose your allegiances carefully as you scour the land for a way home.

Key Features

A Surprising Dark Fantasy – A labyrinth wouldn’t be complete without the trappings of darkness that this fantasy brings. The story and characters depart from the comedy and lightness found in some of Experience’s other games, and opts for traditional hardcore elements like perma-death and Life Points, while infusing the gameplay with a new Ambush system which will challenge you to decide how much risk you’re willing to accept to obtain the greatest loot.
Competition in the Dungeon – Unlike most dungeon RPGs, Stranger of Sword City won’t leave you as a stranger among your peers. Online leaderboards will allow you to finally compete with your friends, and strangers across the world to display your dominance in everything from the best gear, to the fastest clear time.
Overwhelming Art – Fantasy is created by visuals and music as much as by story. In this title, the breathtaking art throughout your travels, and abundance of character portraits available for creating your perfect party will allow you to be truly transported into the magic of Sword City.

Amazon leaks aren't always accurate, but the game is listed by Flashpoint AG, which is the German distributor for all NISA games. They have their own shop, where the game is listed as well. They leaked the Shovel Knight amiibo before

It's a beautiful DRPG by Experience Inc (Demon Gaze) that looks like this, and NISA hasn't announced a localization yet.

Oh NISA. I knew you were working on stuff for Q1, why have you kept it so quiet and just trickled out information? This + Hundred Knight 1.5 would've made a nice press conference.

Anyway, hype. Just picked up Operation Abyss yesterday actually.

Cool, i haven't bought many vita games this year but I might get this, if not launch then discounted down the line.

So glad the vita still has some legs.

I don't think literal translations are always the best idea. I hope they don't call it this.

The titles that Flashpoint puts up on amazon aren't always 100% accurate, but since this is what everybody has been calling the game for ages I don't think it'll change

I've been interested in this game ever since I saw that art style. It could be shit for all I know, but that art style! So glad it's getting localised.

I thought the new version is xbox only.
I think the devs said the Xbox One version was specifically altered because of the intention of releasing it internationally, while at the same time they were going "no comment" about the possibility of the other versions coming over.

I could totally see this being true. NISA still hasn't announced their 2016 plans since anime expo, but this was already speculated to be next in line when it came to the list of DRPGs people were expecting to be brought over. Good stuff, I loved the look of this game. Still, the first few months of next year are actually starting to become a bit too overwhelming in terms of releases lol.

can't wait

I'll take two.

At last I'll be able to play a PS Vita dungeon crawler in the train without fears of getting arrested.

I don't know if you're being light heartedly sarcastic or if you're trying to actually make a comment on the prevalence of fan service-y dungeon crawlers but Operation Abyss has basically none of what you're implying all dungeon crawlers on the Vita have.

I was hoping to play this game, it looks amazing. On Vita it is simply perfect. Otherwise, I would have taken the X1 version.

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
You know besides game localization, I really wished that there was a company that did OST localizations.

Granted its not a problem for myself, but a lot of other folks I know always are not too happy with having to import a ton of stuff as the shit most def adds up $$$ wise.

Am honestly surprised that there is not a company that has attempted that yet. Even more so in the current climate of how gaming has become mainstream.

Reason why I say this, is because this game had a pretty solid soundtrack. Besides the ones that came with the first print runs of the X360 and PC version think Ebten? had one released also, which had come with the Students of Round OST also as a bonus for a limited time.

Finally!! I'm extremely happy!! The Vita version had the original art instead of that"for westerners" bastardisation?
