I haven't watched wrestling for like 10 years but I'd love a good wrestling game with solid online. WCW vs NWO Revenge and No Mercy were my favourites as a kid, the early Smackdown games were fun too.

They should. Let us know how it goes.
I might not have time to call until Wednesday. I got a digital refund on nhl 16 about a month ago and that was pretty meh. The game constantly locked up my ps4 every 5 minutes and only way to fix it was to unplug from the wall. Even redownloaded it a few times. Only game to ever do that. Can't imagine Sony giving a refund just because the game doesn't live up to expectations.

Just tell them how its a broken glitchy mess.

I finally beat Bret Hart. Apparently the difficulty level in the main options doesn't apply to the showcase mode. You have to choose the difficulty in that mode separately when you are in it. What the fuck? Also why add a manual option in the game if you are just going to tell people to go to the website?

Might be your your box, never had a problem with NHL 16. My roommate had that problem and got a new console.

Didn't the blood drip on the ring and stain the mats last year? I busted some people open and it doesn't seem to do that this year.

I just can't believe they somehow made career worse than last years game. I spent 10 hours playing it before the refund and it was just terrible. When I was in NXT going for the championship I fought 4 people the whole time pretty much with maybe 1 or 2 random fights in between. After the Tyler feud, it was just match after match with either Kalisto, Owens or Balor. It was ridiculously boring so I went to Raw and that was better but still not fun, it wasn't until Seth and Ryback kept interfering in my matches that I decided this isn't fun enough to put up with the glitches and bullshit reversal and submission systems. Not to mention that the Graphics are terrible and everything looks like it's made from plastic.

Yeah it's a horrible game. I looked at metacritic and there are only a few reviews so far and most of them are from Spanish sites, which also seemed to give the game good scores last year. I hope giant bomb puts up their review soon to bring down the score so people aren't misled and think it's good. The after release review embargo tells you all you need to know.

Sorry you guys are disliking the game. I am finding it just as enjoyable as 2K15, and yeah, I do mean enjoyable ;)

I am waiting for the patch to fix title defenses in Universe mode, but overall, I am having fun with doing regular matches, starting off MyCareer mode, and browsing all the fun community creations. I would admit though that browsing the community is awfully slow on PS4.

Just curious overall to this community, what are you looking for in an ideal wrestling game for the WWE brand? Why do the 2K games not live up to your expectations?

I haven't played this particular version, or the last one, or a few before that because I swore off these games after it became apparent they were just going to release the same shit with minimal differences every year. I don't do annualized video games anymore, it's a farce. Once there's like a 5 or 6 year gap between my last wrestling game, I may consider picking up a newer one on the cheap.

The last one I had on 360 had a great CAW and you could download other peoples creations, add entrance music, that aspect was great but the gameplay never changes. Even when it "changes" it never changes.

Also, the way the matches work out never really replicate an actual wrestling match. Granted, this has been a problem with every wrestling game I've ever played including Fire Pro and KOC, but with Smackdown/WWE2K it's way more glaring an issue. This is especially noticeable when 2 players are actually trying to beat each other. The tactics you use to win at this game are way far off from how a wrestling match actually plays out.

Lol I feel like shanafan and I are the only ones genuinely enjoying the game despite it's flaws. Go ahead, stone me to death and eat me.

It doesn't have some sort of story?

No it has a few single player modes like fantasy matchups and a sort of gauntlet championship modes with cutscenes. In terms of single player content it's a bit higher than say, WCW/NWO Revenge

Just curious overall to this community, what are you looking for in an ideal wrestling game for the WWE brand? Why do the 2K games not live up to your expectations?

These games are woefully subpar on the technical aspect. Glitches and questionable character modelling abound. The crowd still looks and moves like cardboard cutouts. The audio direction is terrible, every move sounds like a car door being closed. Every wrestler wrestles the same way. There's no learning curve at all. The presentation is dull as dirt. When it comes to gameplay, the core of it is still clunky and unsatisfying. The "game feel" as it were, is terrible.

Basically, mostly everything the modern WWE games do these days have been done better by its predecessors. It's not even a good simulation based wrestling game if your standard for something like that includes fire pro or KOC 2.

I'm also really enjoying this game. Impressions from most other forums is that this is the best wrestling game in a long time, and I would agree. I'm not a huge fan of the submission system, but I'm getting used to it, and otherwise I'm having an absolute blast. I'm also not having any major glitches, aside from a few graphical ones. (Knock on wood.)

You basically have the same handful of people in this thread who hated this game on principle before it was even officially announced. (Yet they all seemingly bought it anyway, just to gripe about it.) Nothing 2K does is going to change their minds.

Ideally, there should be a second WWE title that's more fast-paced and arcade-y. It's a shame All-Stars didn't sell better.

Some damn fun and life.

Stop trying to poorly emulate the TV show. If you cant nail the entrances, the commentary, the story mode, stop trying.

You're a video game. Be fun. Make dumb storylines. Have arenas that are interesting like backstage. Let me throw snowballs again.

Make the gameplay faster and more exciting. Copy fighting games if you must (I'm not sure how to make reversals fun, have any fans made suggestions?)

Bring back the arcadey stuff. Bring back in-game music to cover up the stale, horrid commentary. Make commentary say a bunch of one liners instead, at least that's fun/

"Latino HeeAaat!"
"Big Show's fists are the size of a honey baked ham!"
"Latino HeeAaat!"

I'll take that any day over the tryhard commentary they have now.

A lot of people were skeptical about the game before it was released, and a lot of their skepticism turned out to be justified after they played it. I don't see what's so bizarre about that.

Nailed it. Jeez I just got to the match with Dude Love vs Austin where Austin drives his truck to ring and it straight up looks like something from a PS2 game.

Why are there only 6 reviews of this game on Metacritic so far? Did 2K not send out press copies?

They didn't send out release copies before launch and had a review embargo until a day after release. Most of the reviews on there now are highly suspect.

I think it's real good too. Having a lot of fun with it. Haven't had any glitches except for the menu glitch which is fixed by unplugging the internet cable. Not exactly sure what you guys were expecting with MyCareer. It is almost identical to how MyCareer has worked for years in the NBA 2K series, but instead of game after game its match after match. Until we get another story/season mode its the best we're going to get, but after Spike Lee's attempt I think this is for the better.

So much negativity on here. I don't know how I could stand video game forums 15 years ago. These guys are stressing me out. stoplikingwhatidont.jpg

Three things that make NBAs career much better than the WWE one: 1) It has a story. 2) You can simulate matches when they're not important. 3) It's not broken to the point where you main event Wrestlemania with no belts in the line just as a former US champion, or the rivalry you're in is wrong. I've also never joined the same team twice without ever leaving and never interacted with them once like I have with the authority.

If you don't think I haven't given MyCareer an honest shit with his mines all player out then I don't know what to say. Last years version was better as although you just got Creative have nothing for you each month you didn't pick a PPV, the months you did you had an actual different story and it was nice. I finished that one. This one has broken me.

So despite some minor gripes I am quite enjoying this year's game after completely despising 2K15. That being said I do have one major complaint. What is it going to take to get a Diva CAW MyCareer option? I think we're at a point with the popularity of the NXT Women's division to finally giving the Divas equal ground in the games.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Sorry if this has already been asked before, but did they add anything to the last-gen version to compensate for the lack of a My Career mode ?

If not, can someone recommend me what the best wrestling game available on PS3/360 is that might have a good career mode where you make and establish your wrestler ?

There never has been a career mode in the PS3/360 ones. But they did bring back entrance themes this year.

Some of the SD V Raw games had seasons modes that let you put a CAW in though, I'd look up some of those. Everything from WWE '12 on is more about replaying historical storylines.

Ok I buckled and bought this over the weekend. Enjoying it so far, and it's much better than 2K15.

I really am bad at it though. My Career has started off awfully, I'm NXT's biggest jobber. Also, I accidently turned babyface with a dialogue option. Took me sucking up to the Authority to become the obnoxious, smarmy heel I was born to be.

Oh, and, Renee Young gives me nightmares.

Unless you have the accelerator, expect to lose a lot. Hell, one of the hall of fame goals is to lose your first 3 years.

I never thought I'd have a glitched(?) entrance.

I have my Create a Diva using the Southern rocker motion. You know those spotlights that be on the WM 19 ramp? They use to change color and there just solid white. same thing happen at the SS 1998 too.

Gamecentral gave it a good review

http://metro.co.uk/2015/11/02/wwe-2k16-review-stone-cold-improvement-5475157/

But I'm a bit cagey because the guy reviewing it is new. Did Yukes really not push out a steaming turd for the first time in a decade?

But as already stated, the biggest improvement in WWEK 2K16 is simply the fact that it has all, or at least most, of the old features and modes back to full functionality. Create-a-wrestler (including create-a-diva) and MyCareer modes are now just as good as they’ve ever been,

MyCareer has only ever been in one game, WWE 2k15 on current generation consoles only. What a bizarre statement.

Its not that I dont like it, because shockingly I really do enjoy it. I think its just because I got so caught up in career mode this weekend and its a broken mess that its made me despise it currently. Few days away from career and ill be back to loving it!

Not asking for a refund, that was a rage response due to career mode haha

Yeah, I think I need to try Universe out fully. MyCareer has reminded me what it was like when I was last watching WWE by keep watching it and just getting annoyed with it,

I'm really not enjoying the reversal system. If you don't have an even # of reversals, you're fucked.

It's alright with a CAW, you can pick some moves that have a reversal animation that keeps you having the upper hand when you're reversed so you rarely have to reverse yourself. I'll be turning it off for Universe though.

This is the first year MyCareer on NBA 2K had a story. It took like 5ish years for it to finally get one.

You weren't always allowed to sim unimportant games.

I dumped 270 hours into NBA 2K11 and 2K12s mycareer because you couldn't sim shit except for a few games.

They were kinda broken actually. Every player ran at the same speed except the AI would get some speed cheese. 7 foot bigs could chase down the fasted point guards from across the court. The 3rd quarter AI cheese where every wide open lay up you attempted misses because they coded it that way to give the AI a chance.

Nah, 2k14 and 15 had a story, at least at the start. Coming up through the draft in the first one and 2k15 had you get picked up after missing out on the draft with a rival as well. I didn't play the last gen ones or 2k16 yet.

There's just nothing overarching in this. As soon as you change what belt you go after, everything, including the belt, is dropped and it's beginning to feel like everything after a rivalry is dropped even since the Authority picked me up twice while I went after the US title.

I think the personality bars are bugged too. You can't move them except for slightly off centre no matter how many times I'm egotistical, aggressive and disrespectful.

I'd be more excited about this game if there was a PC release like 2K14. But it doesn't seem it will get one

So I decided to rent WWE 2K16 from Redbox yesterday as I was getting a bit bored of grinding strikes... what a mistake. I ended up bringing it back three hours after I rented it.

Simply put, the game was absolutely terrible.

I knew what was in store for me when I went to look at the controls in-game and it prompted me to visit the game's website. What a great idea....

The real thing that bothered me about this game however is how everything is some sort of mini-game. It was beyond annoying, and just breaks up any semblance of continuity, flow, or immersion. The submission system is beyond terrible, the chain wrestling rock-paper-scissors game is awful, and the reversal system is beyond frustrating.

The above mentioned complaints were enough to ensure I would never buy the game, but the icing on the cake was soon to come. I decided to try my hand at creating my own wrestler, hoping that might get me more invested into the game, wrong. I tried twice to create a wrestler, both attempts resulting in hard-crashes to the dashboard, losing my progress in the process.

I now see why I haven't played a wrestling game since PS2, what a waste of time.

/rant over.

I am so confused by some of the reviews I am seeing. I have even seem some positive reviews from local German outlets. This definitely doesn't make me believe they are anywhere close to the truth.

Most of them sound like regurgitated press releases. They are giving positive remarks to the graphics and my career mode are obvious signs they haven't played the game or have no clue what they are talking about.

So I been playing Tag Team matches online with my friend. At some point the client always loses sync. On my game, we won both matches and got all the bonus points and trophies. On his game, we lost both matches and he got nothing. Yet. in both our games, all 4 characters still moved and pulled off moves.

It was funny, as I was telling him that I just got the three count on Batista, and he mentioned how he sees me getting counted out.

Is there a definitive answer to how the submission system works? I've read various things on forums - people who understand it and can get it to work every time, and others (like me) who, despite many attempts cannot get it to work. Whichever direction i press (in this example performing the submission) it just seems to follow the other circle around, yet when you press the opposite direction the circle continues on its same path.

Quite enjoying the game despite its flaws, but this one mechanic is driving me nuts.

Edit: Just had 3 ironman matches as DBry v Heath Slater, not one submission - and not even close to one either.

Someone posted something in here a day or two linking to reddit where it said to think of it like a clock. Pull the stick in the direction of say 3'oclock and your indicator will move to that position.

I havent played enough to determine how to choose which direction it goes to get to ur "destination" but ill try like a quarter circle motion to the position i want next time and see if that does it.

Once i started doing this it improved my ability to submit people or get out of submissions.
