I bought mine from Amazon, but it was a Steam activated product. Spent 15 minutes entering the keys for the main game, season pass and all the DLC yesterday. Today it's showing me the 20% discount option only.
I'll pass.
Don't remember buying these games. Never played them. But strangely Deathinitive Edition popped into my library.
Ok to skip the first one if I decide to give it a shot? Hopefully since I don't really feel confident committing to 2 games in a series that's been my forgotten backlog fodder for I'm guessing years now.
I totally get that it's not fair. But it seems more of a "hmm that sucks, oh well"-situation to me rather than a "Nordic is fucking over fans and I'll never buy anything from them again"-situation. Console players don't get anything even if they bought 10 copies. It was never going to be fair. All I'm saying that it's blown out of proportion by some people.
As I said, they made the mistake of giving it free to anyone in the first place. They decided to give people MORE, but sadly messed up the execution. These guys bought the IP because they probably think it's still worth something, it sucks to see people that would consider themselves fans to get so upset over a technicality.
welp, I always thought that's how it worked. No, that doesn't get you the Franchise Pack-sub. Even if in the end it's the same.
Is there any chance for a Darksiders 3 then? I kinda want to play the game the ending of Darksiders 1 teased.
Welp. That was a fun 6 minutes.
Wow. No Darksiders 3 then.Welp. That was a fun 6 minutes.
No I don't even want it, I just don't understand why they would label a "Loyalty Program" in this way. That's what irks me most about all of this.
Most companies would charge you the full price for the upgrade. This upgrade system is more than fair.
That's not even what I was getting at. Yes it's nice of them to offer a discount.
However the way it's tiered is off. The people who payed more get less doesn't exactly make sense.
From what I was reading on the forums they said they could only choose one product to tie the game to that would allow people to get it for free. So instead of doing the base game (which arguably would have probably been the better choice) they went with the franchise pack version.
Welp. That was a fun 6 minutes.
This collection that you get the game for free with wasn't even available until 2014.
Welp. That was a fun 6 minutes.
I was reading about a possible "fix" on the Steam forums: http://steamcommunity.com/app/388410/discussions/0/496880503063789705/
See if any of that helps.
Oh hey that Steam post literally confirms this is Darksiders 2: New Textures Edition. It's loading the same saves and settings files as the original release :lol. God fucking dammit, I thought this was more than that.
Edit: Removed settings file, game still loads in 1440p, crashes as soon as I hit new game. GG NordicGames.
Edit#2: oh Appdata folder too. Did they seriously not make sure the re-release didn't load the same fucking files as the old release so it wouldn't constantly crash for people?
Oh fucking hell. I've removed every single thing I can find from the old Darksiders 2 install, it still starts in 1440p using my old settings. Lmao.

Go to C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Darksiders2 and delete the file options.dopt. Then go to your Steam install directory [YourSteaminstall]\userdata\[Steam ID]\388410\remote and also delete the options.dopt file.
It is more than thatShit, it crashes? That sucks. I don't understand why it was so hard for them to just take Darksiders 2 and make it look nicer.
Looking at the Steam reviews, though: Wow at number of people giving it negative reviews just because they didn't get it for free. Gamers really are entitled bitches.
