So Prime Now just got to my area a few weeks ago (SF Bay Area). I thought, sweet, Amazon is now offering a service that I'm really excited about and competing with services like Google Shopping Express.
So tonight I placed my first order, and saw it auto-fills a $5 tip. I am conflicted. I am used to tipping (generously for good service) at restaurants and for food delivery, but not for Amazon, a multi-billion dollar corporation, to deliver consumer goods at my door. In fact, when I had my Prime Fresh sub, which allowed same-day time-slotted delivery, I was never prompted for a tip, as far as I can remember.
I placed my order anyways with the suggested $5 tip (on a $20 order), even if the page to adjust it does say the tip is optional and can be changed for up to 48 hours. I have no plans of changing it. But it felt, and continues to feel, weird to tip for my Amazon delivery.
Thoughts?
