Star Wars Battlefront: PS4 is outdoing Xbox and PC combined [in concurrency numbers]

Is it fair to say that console gamers are often easily mislead by hype/marketing more than PC gamers? PC gamers make better decisions with their money and are generally more informed than your average console gamer IMO.

Hardline and Battlefront are the first time where PC has absolutely cratered in numbers. Probably because people are tired of DICE's bullshit when it comes to the launch of their PC versions and the season passes/Origin-exclusive/etc.
eh want to wait to see how a military themed mainline tittle aka BF5 does first before making any conclusions
I mean BF3 had the season pass and origin exclusivity but BF4 still started out pretty well from what I've been reading

maybe PC players are just more into modern military stuff than cops and robbers or star wars :p
or it's just the bf4 launch issues or the perceived lack of content for battlefront that are the cause

look, regardless of platform, do we KNOW these numbers are accurate? The guy who set it up says they are, but of course he will. These aren't official numbers from EA. Maybe they're higher. Maybe they're lower. I've seen a few websites and individuals show skepticism as to how legitimate or accurate any of this really is. I think we should too until we hear from EA.

man more I look at it, more I think these numbers are pretty terrible. Not even 300k concurrent combine all 3 platform. What happened to the crazy star wars hype. I actually thought this game will take over COD in Nov NPD. But now I am not sure.

Lack of a true campaign probably hurt some sales.

Wait, is this not on EA dedicated servers? If EA isn't committing to dedicated servers this will really worry me for Titanall 2. If there's no azure, or EA servers for that game i'm going to flip my shit.

Why are they not doing this?

I wouldn't disagree, but a lot of people might take offense to that notion.

Sounds like you're ignoring the vast majority of the PC population (browser, MMOs, and F2P games).

Early Access. Don't pretend that PC gamers don't get swayed by hype.

What a lot of bollocks, completely condescending, self serving nonsense.

As a PC gamer and a console gamer.... as many are, on their behalf, please get over yourself.

Dude buys PC, thinks he is second coming.

PC gamers include people who buy a hundred games on Steam sales only to never play most of them.

Drooling imbeciles the console lot.

There is just no time for Battlefront in between cheese and wine.

You're going to be endlessly quoted but you could say PC players told Microsoft's GFWL subscription fee to take a hike while console players on both sides still bend over for it.

That's some confirmation bias if I've ever seen it.

PC gamers had other options on that platform, due to its open nature, hardly the same but keep going.

I take it your shit don't stink either.

Yawn.

Wahahahahahaha

I am sorry but PC gamers buy early access games talk about making better decisions with their money, they are paying to be a beta tester.

digging into the numbers instead of just going off my own memory there's this from archive.org

the first day archived that showed stats for BF3 was on Oct 30th, a few weeks after the launch

PC online 184 010
PS3 online 178 685
360 online 210 974

someone else can have fun charting or whatever but it kept dropping until after xmas when it rose up to

PC online 93 802
PS3 online 123 815
360 online 140 544

they don't really have snapshots throughout the day and that matters because Xbox, PS and PC all peak at different times thru the day and they didn't have the 24h peak stat back then.

Those Steam refunds seem to be getting a lot of use.

Not hard to imagine that the awful launch of BF4 and the utter rejection of Hardline may have put a significant dent in the PC base for Battle-stuff.

Yeah sure it's not like PC gamers have ever paid for a broken early access game.

As a PC gamer, all I have to say is.....

Good idea to use archive.org.

The admin of bf3stats.com used to have a this year in review as a post on the main site, like the image in the OP. But I'm also just going from memory as I didn't save those numbers.

Edit: Found the thing I'm referring to: https://web.archive.org/web/20130115052233/http://bf3stats.com/
It's 2012 and unique players, so it's missing like 70 days in 2011. It's also not the same as concurrent players.

Huh? A PC gamer has to spend more money than me every few years when it comes to games I would think

. I don't think it's about being more discerning or smarter or something, shooters just tend to wane in popularity on PC when the features that audience is used to get gutted.

Sort of like how console players generally didn't bother with Nintendo's crappy online implementations in the past.

They are more discerning though, this doesn't even have to be about their personal tastes. I can prove this simply by pointing out the PC is a buyers market. Where consoles often don't need nor care to be. There's a veritable cornucopia of games on PC comparitively to console. This is important because the average PC player has a wider variety of titles in their library than most console players. So it doesn't really matter if they are smarter or not, they simply have more options and that often is all it takes to make someone more discerning.

Fallout like skyrim will be big on PC because MODS.

Yep, probably the only thing that bumped Skyrim out of the top 10 steam games is Fallout 4. They're in that small group of games like Minecraft that have limitless playability due to community generated content.

Choosing what's games you buy makes you discerning?

Then we all are.
