Xenoblade Chronicles X - Review Thread

So tempted to pick-up a Wii U for this...should I do it, guys?

Two of my friends did. (I had mine since a long time) I don't know your financial situation but it should be fun. If you played the first Xenoblade you should have a good idea if it'd be worth it for you or not.

I don't think most reviewers beat most games. I don't have a problem with this actually, save for a few key times where I think the ending changes things.

Heck, even a lot of the XBX reviews mentioned they had not beaten the final mission.

All of you that already have the game are lucky sonsabitches and I hate you. Best buy has been "preparing shipping" for like 2 days. Is the guy who puts the box on the truck on a bender or something???

Just...I just need it...

Please...

It hurts...

Right. Seems like torture to have to finish a 100+ hour game especially if you don't like it all that much.

I don't think I would for one game, thankfully the library is strong enough to warrant a purchase now though. Go for it.

Yeah, I'm not buying it just for XBX. I really want to check out Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Maker, Bayonetta 2, SMM, and MK8. I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the GC so it'd be a nice change.

Do you like the genre???

Yes! I'm just hoping XBX satisfies my JRPG craving I've been having for awhile. I miss the old SNES - PS2 era of JRPGs.

Seems more like he's trying to meet a deadline than actually playing the game.

Incoming bad score.

Judging by his most recent tweet, he was slogging through the part of the game where you don't have a Skell yet. Which sounds like for a lot of people is a pretty miserable slog.

I don't have mine yet, but UPS says it's "out for delivery".

I only check the windows every 5 minutes or so....

The library is awesome, specially now. I just bought one an hour and a half ago and it already dispatched. Already owned one and played and finished most of the awesome games.

Just couldn't let this pass, will get some games I missed and the games that release next year too.

Are there any other Wii U games you like?

If you answer positively to these questions and like what you see, go for it.

Seems like the system would definitely be worth it for you then.

Many other really good games and this particular game is not one you are going to see very often.

Are IGN reviewers contractually required to finish the game though?

Several reviewers like GameXplain admitted they hadn't finished the game at the time of publishing the review.

Haha no, they aren't obligated.

I'm willing to bet (and I have no way of proving this, it's just my bet) that less than 10% of the reviews for Xenoblade come from a completed save file. And that's totally fine, i don't really think they need to finish it to form a well-reasoned opinion,

Ugh same here. Best buy needs to hurry up and ship it :| I want this game already. That said, it might not be a great idea considering I'm supposed to be writing this thesis

So I've been playing Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii) for about 10 hours now since Monday (sorry, school work, I'll get back to you); turns out I really like JRPGs. Well, that's fortunate, now that I've been so eager to give XCX a go. The bad part is I've got myself hooked on the Wii-game with the new one ordered and about to be sent. I don't want to stop, but I also want to play XCX. Quite the conundrum.

I picked up somewhere (can't remember where, sorry) that it's not possible to have the game's audio come through the gamepad. As in, plug my headset into the gamepad and have all the game's audio come throught there (it's possible in all other games). Is this true?

The fuck? We need clarification on this, seems whack.

I never understood people wanting to rush through a game they're currently enjoying just because another game is releasing soon.

Like, what's the benefit of starting to play a mainly single player game like XBX day 1? It's not like the quality gonna go down noticably(if at all) a month later.

Anyone find a place selling the strategy guide early? Would like some reading material for work for the next day and before picking it up on my lunch break.

There's something to be said for the internet zeitgeist these days. It's difficult to have a conversation about, "omg I just discovered this thing!!!!" when the game's been out for a little while and people have already figured it out.

I'd recommend finishing XC and pick up XCX if you see it on sale during your play through with XC or whenever you finish it. As someone said earlier, there shouldn't be a reason for you to rush to get this game since it's single player.

First time I remember seeing street date being broken for a Nintendo game two days early. Nice price tag too :)

Also amazon.de got the special edition in stock again. One of those is my preorder.

Warning...This is spoilery as fuck, it didn't bother me since I already know things from the Japanese release but be warned.

Good thing I just saw the first five seconds and closed it out. Thanks for saying that or I might have actually watched it. I wish almost all media would avoid major spoilers for games that are not out, even if they have been out for months in other regions as it just ruins my experience a little personally, just want to find out things on my own. I've only really seen the prologue and bits of Chapter 1 and 2 so that's good enough for me far as the story goes. Seeing the first one or two hours that I'm likely to complete day one is fine with me personally.

I think I'll skip on the LE of the game, I'll just buy the regular edition. Still really excited for the game!
That's what I did, I'm starting to cut down on LE versions of games. It also helps that Amazon was delivering my LE to me on the 8th instead of the 4th for some reason. Now I'm in the day 1 party.

Not sure what it spoils other than giving a glimpse of the other species we'll be dealing with in the story.

Then again I haven't played through XBX yet.

There's something special about being part of the Internet zeitgeist at release. I played FO4, TW3 and MGSV at release this year and it was special to be part of. You do miss out if you're not part of it. Personally I wouldn't skip through another game but I understand where they're coming from.

I guess it's to be part of the 'conversation' online while it's still hot news, like seeing a film when it first comes out. There will always be discussion later but it can be fun to discover everything along with the crowd.

Best Buy has shipped my SE! The wait until Friday will be unbearable.

Just stop it.

Don't forget Xenoblade on the Wii! Also, I earnestly recommend DK Tropical Freeze, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Smash Bros Wii U, and Yoshi's Woolly World. All amazing games. And Earthbound if you've never played it. Okay fine I could list like 20 more games, but I don't want to overwhelm you. The library is fantastic.

If you're enjoying Xenoblade Wii, I say keep playing.
