How does that make any sense at all? You guys bought the ps2 classics, as they were. It would make no sense for them to spend money and man hours on something to get little to no return on it.

Oh, awesome! I missed those stories. I was never really a huge fan of the original Dark Cloud, though I did like what it was going for; Dark Cloud 2 I played about ten hours of and then my disc got messed up, I always wanted to keep going, I loved what I played. Ape Escape 2, hell yes!

Weapon Degradation can be countered with auto repair powders which just means more grinding to counter their extra cost but I can't remember the meters.

Hopefully the nonsense statements about cross buy are just because it's not mandatory and they don't want to imply all games will be cross buy.

They're probably going to charge $20 per game. It sucks for people who no longer have a working ps2. I kept mine and it still works after 10 years.

To tell the truth, although I stil have a lot of dics from the play2 era, they're bond to not work properly in a few years... so If I have the chance to grab digital copies of them... I wouldn't be that pissed, as long they bring back the very best, meaning, jrpgs.

(The best non-jprgs games are all on ps3, right?)

I knew discs wouldn't work but not transferring over classics you own is a shame.

The only real reason I can think of is publishers might have said they wouldn't bother with ps2 classics if they were just free to download for ps3 owners.

Hopefully theres a discount program for owners of the ps3 license like the wii-wiiu.

I don't think it should be free, especially considering trophy support, but a $2 fee or something small would be fine.

Wonder if you'll be able to "upgrade" at a reduced cost if you already bought the old ps2 Classic. Sort of like wiiu emu titles when they became wiiu compatible if you already owned the Wii version. It was like a $1 or $2 to "upgrade" to the wiiu version.

I set up and played a bit of Dark Cloud 2 on my PC. I wish if they made BC that it was disk based, don't really care about trophies, I understand it's a deal breaker for most though. I also think BC that need games to be worked on for it to work is disappointing. PC seems to be the way to go for PS2.

Sure why not?
There will still be a very large number of PS4 owners that don't already own the PS2 classics, so they would be doing the work to sell to those people.
Alternatively, they should do a small fee to upgrade your PS2 Classic version (Nintendo did something similar iirc) but we will have to wait and see if they have this option.
Fact of the matter is I am not going to rebuy a game I already own, unless it is dirt cheap, just because it is rendered in 1080p (with low-res assets) and has trophy support.

I personally don't give a shit about discs. Most of my ps2 collection is gone, and I agree with you.

But I could also see the other side that says just basic ps2 emulation should work. No trophies or whatever.

Yep, if the game is on the supported list and has a disc version, you out the disc in and it installs the game for you. Pretty damn awesome.
