Replace FF13 with FF7R

Nah man this Shit is retarded. Square Enix should cancel this game ASAP. No need to butcher this game any further. Sad thing is people will buy it too. man what a freaking train wreck this FFVII remake business has been. Nomura and entire square enix is just money grubbing idiot IMO. Maybe they will make a good game again in another 50 years when they are at the verge of bankruptcy. Oh well this just makes me super sad. I never even curse on these posts but this news made me do it. Shame on SE :(
Walk away from the computer and get some fresh air, Jesus.

This news makes me sad because I was looking forward to having this in my physical collection. I'm sure they release it on disc after the season but I don't see myself double dipping.

If you stop and think about it, it makes sense and is actually a good thing.

No one wants to wait 6 to 8 years for this.

BUT, if we get part one Holliday 2016, part two Holliday 2018, part three Holliday 2020 and the master collection plus all the extras, in 2021, perhaps with a new console release, we all can all enjoy it as it comes. I personally would pay $200 for this remake. And if every release comes with an LE version, I'll put down more lol.

This instantly killed all of my hype.

What the fuck Square.

Just make XV episodic or something. It's basically an early access game at this point anyway...

And that right there is the key. It there are like three, 12+ hour episodes, and they come out every six months or so, ok.

I haven't played FF7 in forever but wasn't the game longer than that? Even if they're cutting things out like minigames and the overworld map, I still feel like it would be much longer than 40ish hours unless you're only focusing on the main story... and hopefully they're including more than just that. Although I guess the gameplay would affect that quite a bit compared to the original. It just seems like these episodes would have to be long as hell to be worth it. Like 15-20 hours each. Release three or four of those without gutting the game and maybe this will be salvageable.

Do you guys actually know how episodic games are priced or are you all being ridiculous? We'll get a $60 "season pass" and the episodes themselves will total probably $10 to $20 more if bought separately. Unless I've missed out on some crazy episodic game pricing in the last few years.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 was episodic and it did a great job of it. Even if it's basically artificial I like how it extends the time I'm playing so I don't barrel through the experience in a weekend or a few days. Of course, Rev2 also had the benefit of basically being finished and having a set release day every week. Who the hell knows what the release schedule of this will be...

Episodic games are the (sort of) future brehs.

I would have been very angry about this a long time ago but given my limited time to play games any way, I dont care, plus this means I can play the game before it's actually done

This thread is embarrassing
It doesn't take a genius to see how an episodic nature would completely ruin the immersion by butchering the game world and make for streamlined, vignette type 'experiences' -- a complete antithesis to what is FF7.

I'm sure it's been brought up by now, but it won't be split into disc-sized chunks. It'll be split into more than that.

Episode I: Midgar.

That seems like a safe bet.

YOU already know that's coming. Freaking SE and their money greed. 59.99 season pass or 79.99 for the whole game garbage like this probably. Nomura is a talentless hack IMO so this game was gonna be bad anyway.

It's like every post you make gets dumber then the last.

I'm out of this thread. It's too much.

First on Playstation makes so much sense now.

They'll get the first episode in an exclusive window.

And the the rest and the retroactive first will be released on XB1/PC/NX?

I don't know what to think just yet.....

Episodic in like part 1 comes out, then 8 months later, part 2 comes out. That kind of episodic?

Or the full game will be told in episodes?

WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS MEAN?

Why does there always have to be a god damn catch????

I can't see it being that quick.

Square got some serious explaining to do. I don't like the fact they withheld that info after they showed that footage. Comes off as trying to mumble something people might not like under their breath. I also don't like the fact they're dropping this bit of info on us, but with nothing else to clarify whether or not the structure of the game itself is changing or not.

Too much to hope for 3 parts?

Disc 1
Disc 2
Disc 3

Even if they do that, it's not like they're going to complete the entire world and include the whole thing in every episode. This game is going to be one giant hallway. Besides, the original was only split into three discs because of the CG. The third episode would be a rip-off if they did it that way.

As long as it's not digital only... i'm okay with this as long as the combat isn't garbage.

On the upside, people will be able to get it faster... kinda.

Wow I can just imagine how long the full retail release will take to come out....that's if there is a retail release.

What if "FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE" is the name for a project as a whole, and also encompasses something like, I dunno, a Crisis Core remake?

I'm just spitballing but the PR is vague enough that it's just as likely as being episodic.

The game being episodic is a billion times more likely than them taking the time to make a Crisis Core remake or actual new sequels like some people seem to be theorizing.

what I posted sounds perfectly fine.

FF7 will be one game but there will be more prequel remakes and post game content telling the overall story. They have a lot of lore between crisis core, ff7, advent children, etc...

They plan on retelling the entire story but ff7 will still be its own game. That not only would be ok, it would be great.

If it were this, they woulda said so cuz they must know people would flip out at 7 being divided. I bet it's 2 hour chunks of a game.

Part 1: Motorcycle segments
Part 2: Snowboarding
Part 3: Golden Saucer Minigames

Boom, unique gameplay experiences up the wazoo!

Edit: 39.99$ each. Seriously though, anyone expecting these parts to cost less than 20$ a pop, BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....c'mon guys, it's fucking Square-Enix.

Bro as a super passionate fan from mid 90's this whole remake business has been terrible IMO. and i am infront of my computer now cause I am writing a code for class assignment. Checking neogaf while thinking then I saw this BS.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience.

What does that even mean?

Does each "Episode" have a different battle system or some shit? Will saves even carry over? WHY

The only thing I can think of regarding "multiple part series" would be maybe an anime/movie/comic or any other type of media that would cover parts of FF7. Would fit the "unique experience" angle.

On one hand, it might mean it will release sooner than we think.

On the other, we'll have to wait months between episodes, most likely...

So it's been years since i played VII but i remember it being a massive ass game, they probably looked at the time necessary to remake it and came to the conclusion that it was gonna take too long therefore episodes! Ugh this is probably a bad news since i bet they end up cutting a bunch of shit from the original game to make it fit into episodes.
