Final Fantasy VII Remake is a multi-part series

People called Romanes they go the house?
This....is some weird shit.

I wonder if the episodic focus means that there are different styles for each of the episodes?

Episode 1 or w/e has the KH style, and it changes later?

Either case, relatively sure of a 'do not want'.

Well, good thing you'll have that option in the inevitable bundle that comes out.

That was my plan, same as with Hitman. Though the episodic thing has it's perks, like you can buy the first episode to get a taste to see if you like it or not and then you don't have to commit to the rest of the game if you hate it.

I'm trying to stay positive about this and hope maybe this is a misunderstanding but it's not working.

Like maybe first part is ff7, part 2 is advent children, part 3 is new story?

Probably not a bad thing if they can get it out quicker

Exactly what I was thinking. This way we can play the game sooner while they roll out the rest of it. Game looked fantastic from what was shown.

thanks for the laugh
it's painful to see people mentally size up where they're going to put breaks in the original game.

this will be nothing like the sprawling, continuous universe connected by an overworld that you want. it'll be a cinematic, piecemeal experience with only a narrative continuity between each section.

by doing this, they can make a lot more money from nostalgia junkies for a magnitude less effort.

I Know what this mean. No materia system, No overworld map. Episodes of the most important parts of the old FF7 story. Fuck this.

What? No. It doesn't mean that at all.

Releasing the game in chunks doesn't mean it will be segmented like one. And like hell that means there won't be materia.

What happens if I don't buy a previous episode? They just give me all or some of the equipment I missed? That cheapens the whole thing...

I'm going to hope for the best instead of crying about it, and who knows maybe it is actually a mistranslation or misunderstanding, either way, I don't really think this is a big deal.

I mean it's the content that matters, not the publishing approach.

And people were worried about the game's battle system.

"ACTION? NOOO, PLEASE, I CAN'T TAKE NEW THINGS!!!"

"ATB? WHAT IS THIS? THE 90's?!!"

Now the game is episodic. OH MY GOD

I can't believe this is happening.

Could also mean they will be remaking Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus. The "unique experience" part doesn't make it sound episodic to me.

In any case, I'm not gonna jump to conclusions. I'll wait till more information is released.

That was kinda unexpected... What are you doing Square? You already had the fans and now this? Can't believe how stupid some CEOs are....

.......

Thinking about this, could it be that the game will be cut up into different parts, to have great focus on some characters?

-Part I: Focus on Cloud and Avalanche
-Part II: Continue Cloud's journey
-Part III: Backstory with Zack (Crisis Core re-done?)
-Part IV: Vicent and Yuffe focused
-Part V: Conclusion to Cloud's story
-Epilogue: Playable version of Advent Children

They could mean that through the FFVII Remake, they want to retell EVERYTHING that is part of the FFVII world. If that is the case....this isn't too bad then.

It allows focus on elements not covered in the original game alongside re-doing elements that people wanted to see more of (Zack) or want to see fixed up/expanded (Vicent).

Either way, this is both good and bad news, so they better explain this in more detail to us at some point :l.

Yeah, like I said. Each part would have more story to it. More detailed environments. More things to do, more people to interact with.

Again, I want to know what in the hell each having its own unique experience entails (besides the obvious). Does that mean they're going to play differently?

This really drives home the point that modern game development can not accommodate the scope of past generations. Shit sucks.

It can, but SE wants to balls to walls high production values.

They've dug their own grave.

Ironically, FFVII was that shift in philosophy for them. At least for the FF series.

This is basically the Matrix sequels isn't it. You had to try so hard to make those movies shit, and yet the Wachowskis still did it.

Remaking FF7 is like the hardest thing to fuck up. It's all right there for you. And yet SE managed to fuck it up.

MGSV
Fallout 4
The Witcher 3

FF7 was always episodic.

I know... I know... But if they call it Disc 1-3, and cover equivalent content, I'd be ok with it.

You know why its 3 disc right? cause of data management issue. If blu ray existed back then it would have been 1 disc. Nothing episodic about it.

Again, there is literally no way to know what a "multi part experience" means based on what is in the OP. It could mean many things. So yeah, it is overreacting because all this doom and gloom is based on assumptions people are coming up with.

Multi-part series.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience.

Seems like a pretty good assumption, based on this snippet of info.
How else could you interpret this?
Don't get me wrong though, I would LOVE to be wrong about this.

I refuse to wait months for the next episode of any game, even in this case when I know its story by heart.

If they're really splitting the game I'll be waiting for the definitive version, probably so late that it'll be a simultaneous release on PS5 too.
