It wouldn't surprise me if a stripped down version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition came out on the New 3DS one of these days.

Yeah I'm guessing they're waiting until the Nintendo skins are ready before launching the game physically. They probably want those skins to be part of the box art.
ch, Its not meant to save anything! It's meant to make money and fill an also fill void since Minecraft was one of the most solicited games on the console.
We'd probably still have the complaints because it's not a Smash Direct/Metroid/F-Zero/NX/Pokémon announcement that people hyped themselves up to think was happening with no reason behind it.
Yeah and it works here, but I thought they would make it better for this version and use the gamepad smartly...
...unlike Nintendo.

No one in PR can say they have some bit of news without people working themselves up with impossible pipe dreams of what it could be. Not sure what people expected for a monday morning news announcement that wasn't featured in a direct or a press conference. This is basically as big as you can get for a random twitter announcement.
And reading through the PR and also the website, there's no mention of the touch screen interface, so I'm afraid we are in for another late 3rd party port with no additional features for Wii U. Yeah, there will be some Nintendo skins later, but I will be amazed if they won't be DLC or locked behind amiibo.

Honestly? Pretty good news, especially for PC + Wii U users who want to check out (rather different) console version. If collaboration content and dual-screen gameplay will be of a good quality, this will be great.
Wonder if there will be a physical version...
And, yes, this is actually a very big news. I know a lot of families which considered buying Wii U for their kids but got pushed away by the lack of Minecraft.

I feel if anyone really wanted to get their hands on this they would have got it on an alternate platform that it's been on for years. This is the smallest console install base so I don't expect it to be huge, but it's good for those that only own Nintendo products.

I don't know about the quality of the game, I was just discussing about potential upfront Minecraft support for future platforms instead of all these years spent in waiting and waiting.
