You using a DS4 for it? I'm not entirely sure but I seem to remember someone saying that taxi races with the DS4 resulted in some sort of problem. This sound familiar to anyone?

Actually... I am lol. Maybe I'll try the DS3 later then.

Just doing some normal Taxi missions and man, Pedestrians are stupid/annoying.

So how are sidequests handled in this? I'm asking because when I recently played Isshin, a lot of the quests consisted of doing the same things over and over again to fill up a bar. Coming from 3 and Kenzan that felt like a big step down. Is that different in 5 (and 4 while we're at it)?

Kazuma Kyriu; baysitting Daigo for four games straight (five if we count Dead Souls). This guy is hopeless.

So far so good, this game is is fantastic as I hoped it would be and then some. I'm not terribly far into the game yet because I had to stop for two hours and go help my buddy pay a fine to get his car back, as much as I wanted to be selfish and play the game some I figured allowing him to be able to pick up his kids from school today in a minivan instead of riding on the back of a Huffy 10 speed was the right moral choice on my part. Now that I'm back home and playing though I can see a lot of the smaller details that are improved over the previous game and that alone makes the world even more immersive and enjoyable to crack skulls in and I can only imagine how much better it's going to get as I get further into the game. But like the last few Yakuza games, I find myself playing slowly and in short sessions to prolong the experience but with the announcement of the Yakuza 0, I can play this nonstop with no worries, having peace of mind that another game in the series is right around the corner. As many other people have stated, it feels so good to be playing are you Yakuza game again.

Far more varied than Ishin. While Zero kept those friendship gauges they at least made them quicker to fill, and gave you far better reasons to fill them.

I just bought Outrun, Daytona, and Sega Rally music ingame to play when racing using Kiryu's cellphone.

This game is DOUBLE GOTY.

There are two main ways sidequests are handled. There are different people who are available to talk to around the city (some may only available during certain parts of a character's story). There are a large variety of these and many serve as introductions to various mini-games. You don't do them over to fill up a bar.

Then there's Another Drama which are optional side jobs the characters can do. For example, Kazuma as people have noted in this thread can drive or race a Taxi. The racing portions have their own side story arc. Another Drama is somewhere between side quest and main content in that it's longer and more fleshed out than other side content.

Does anyone know if critics have had review copies? Seems to be no articles about the game what so ever sadly :/

And maybe the other Yakuza games were this way as well but it's been a while since I would have first started them but lol at everything being inverted by default.

I remember from other thread that reviews had review copies over 3 weeks ago. Some magazine sites (EDGE) already have their reviews, and the first one popped up on metacritic (I posted it in this page)

Just saw this on twitter, not come across it yet:

CVuQtSxWoAEcJk9.png:orig

edit: I think it's

1. Simple Meal/One-plate Meal
2. Once-in-a-lifetime encounter
3. Yakiniku set meal

I think the 3rd one is best!

It's downloading faster than I'd anticipated. Downloaded 20% in an hourish.

Good job I've got Xenoblade Chronicles X to finish in the meantime.

Presentation has had massive improvements compared to 4 but Kaz's new running animation is awful. Mass Effect 3 level.

Woah at all the interactable stuff in the convenience stores!

edit: And the last question was the one above so yeah, I just got that mission haha.

Lol, I thought it was an improvement to Yakuza 3 & 4's robotic running animations...

Did they tone down the violence in the game compared to 4? Done a few fights now and none of the enemies seem to display damage or bruise at all.

I really want to get this but too many games:(

I've got Zesteria, Fallout 4 and Xenbolade to play not to mention I also want to grab Xonic Beat:/

There's definitely something going on with taxis and the DS4. I'll have to get my DS3 back from my friend for this one I guess.

I just walked into a convenience store.

You can read the ENTIRE FIRST CHAPTER of any of these series: A-Bout, Ahiru no Sora, Baby Steps, Be Dash!, BLACK OUT, Chojin Gakuen, Countrouble, FAIRY TAIL, GE Good Ending, Hajime no Ippo, A Town Where You Live, Attack on Titan, Sherlock Bones, Wagatsuma-san wa Ore no Yome, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, Animal Land, Cage of Eden, Initial D, Kaiji (the Kazuya-hen arc,) Ghost in the Shell, Minami-ke, PONCHO, Sengoku, Suna no Eikan, and Kurono Royale.

This is surreal.

I also recognize Serani Poji playing over the convenience story speakers. I have that CD.

Man, I'm rusty at every Yakuza I start. First sort of boss fight with two thugs in chapter one and I'm struggling to get a hit in. They block everything too. I keep forgetting how to play these games every time I start.

I'm having a blast!! The fighting in this game feels so damn good! Wrecking street punks by throwing them into walls and shit is awesome!!
