One of the best JRPGs of all time. Amazing soundtrack, amazing characters, also the best main villain in history( sorry Sephiroth). If you haven't tried this game, do it now.

Edit: It shows as $5.00 if you don't have PS Plus. Sorry I didn't notice.
 
Yup. I'll be buying this.

I collect PS1 discs, but what a godsend for the expensive stuff.
 
As someone who pined over this game for years after missing its retail release, it's mindblowing that I can finally buy this game for the price of a cup of Starbucks coffee. Bought it just for sheer novelty's sake, even if I have no time for long-ass RPGs anymore, though it'll help keep my Vita company.

It makes Suikoden 2 a better experience. You won't need it for the main storyline so much, but it does flesh out the world and specific character back stories a lot. Suikoden 2 is a much better game than Suikoden 1, but you can't go wrong with S1!
 
Suikoden I was legit. I liked what I played of 2 but it was long ago and I don't remember it.

Suikoden IV sucked but Tactics was cool. V was good too

You can import the main character from the first game to the 2nd one if you have a save file of the first game. But you don't need to play the 1st game to love the second one. Every Suikoden games have self contained stories.
 
Perfect. I've tried Sui2 multiple times, and have enjoyed it, yet never got farther than a few hours, but a version on the Vita might be the thing to push me over to finish it. Just haven't bought it due to price but this is perfect.

Love the fact all this stuff is playable of Vita TV. Helps make up for the entirely awkward walled-off environment of the PS4. And you can use DS3 or DS4 with it.

Suikoden II was the game of my summer vacation when it came out. I just had to let it sit on the game over screen for like an hour after beating it, smiling at all the memories and fun times. I LIKED final Fantasy VII, sure, but Shining Force III (Scenario 1... :( ) and Suikoden II were LOVED.

HQ Theme 2's pleasant-as-possible remix of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star also will always stick with me.

Just... yeah. Love the game. Always good memories. I have no need to buy it again, no time to play it... but yet it still calls out to me.

On topic, I bought it a while back when it was on sale (although for more than $2.50). Haven't played it yet but it's on deck after Trails in the Sky.

Yeah its probably worth me picking it up for my Vita then. Mind you it was probably worth picking it up at the full price, but I wouldn't be able to play it right now.

Kinda hard to pay full price for games that'll probably sit for awhile before being played.

edit: it says 136 Kč which is about $5 even though I am a PS+ member. Is this an American deal?

Meh, maybe they are really interested in the game and thought there were truly no excuses to not play like the OP stated =P (though having a PS4 shouldn't lead to an assumption of qualification to begin with obviously)

It's no better than port begging.

The lack of BC is inexcusable but it doesn't need to be brought up in every fucking LTTP and classic game thread.

Not at all. The story is self contained and you won't really miss much.

That said, there some things that carry over from the first, like you get some extra levels on recurring chars if you powered them up enough, some armor stuff you can put on them that are exclusive to the first game and the hero of the first game being recruitable (although it's a pain to get him back in the party each time). All of these are entirely inconsequential since the game is pretty easy as it is and you can easily level up if you want to. The hero from the first game is a nice touch, but there's pretty much no story attached to it.

You could play the first game still but it's very barebones compared to 2 and not nearly as timeless.
