4chan Rumor: No Assassin's Creed in 2016, 2017 in Egypt, Witcher inspired [Update]

Taking a year off? Ancient Egypt? Black Flag team? More like Witcher 3? I consider myself one of the more optimistic folks on this forum, but even I'm ready to call bullshit on this - it all sounds way too good to be true.

Sweet Jesus please be true because my hype levels would sky-rocket.

In every AC game, you can play with the language the game is set in.

Playing the Ezio trilogy with the Italian dubs was pretty damn cool.

Can't wait to play as white Egyptians. AC4 was the only good AC game imo.

I honestly can't see Ubisoft playing with fire like that. Unity was trashed by advocates for months even before its tragic launch. And the next Assassin's Creed will probably make or break the franchise.

Yes please! I fucking love ancient Egypt! I've been bored with the series for awhile, them taking extra time to do some new stuff and going with this time and setting could definitely bring me back.

Probably is, that's why. If this is it, why wouldn't it be at E3 2016? I mean, games don't need to be near finished for Ubisoft to show them off.

Makes more sense to show off the replacement (Watch dogs 2/Ac collection). Plus after last year (2 cg/in engine trailers, no fake gameplay) they're kinda shell shocked I think. Unity left an impression.

Sounds good.

The china/japan answer is weird though, it'd be really really succesful if they go that route, and would make a lot more sense tbh.

Please be true.

Syndicate was a nice way to give the series a little break. That plus the movie is enough for 2016. A completely revamped AC in 2017 could be huge.

Hmm sounds intriguing.

But having almost no buildings to climb definitely is shaking things up.
Worked for AC4, but that's only because naval combat was a focus and this doesn't sound like it.

uhh less historical accuracy, the big draw of the series was the ties to a hidden history, removing accuracy scares me, as someone above said could we see quests from gods? kill X pharoah (who we aren't sure how died) etc
Egypt as a setting I like the idea of t can be very interesting but only small villages and less to explore seems a negative.

But the black flag team, well that alone give me hope

but 4chan so yeah no

Judging by what Quentyn just dug up, I'm guessing the other setting was Greece?
Ancient Egypt and Rome is what I heard, but that was months ago. Pretty sure this 4chan poster is for real. What I'm curious about is whether they'll legitimately skip this year or do a filler game of some sort alongside the movie.

I'd like a game set in predynastic Egypt before the desertification of the region took place. Maybe during desertification with strife coming from dwindling food and a changing environment.

Though canon says that the Assassin's and Templars, or at least the groups that will take on those names have existed since before the Cataclysm.

Also if they are going so far back to not worry about historical accuracy and the protagonist doesn't talk much they better fucking let you choose between playing as a man or woman.

Hopefully if they have a game release this year it's nothing more than an HD collection.

I'll believe it. The last Ubisoft survey I took about AC Syndicate was heavy on comparing it to other open world titles, specially Witcher 3.

Odd that they are releasing a movie in 2016 and no new game. Although an AC compilation/remaster pack (at least Rogue, please) might make more sense.

Sounds bad. Progressing forward in time literally offers new gameplay mechanics. Going back to almost pre-history is a weird choice that stinks of "re-inventing the series because we ran out of ideas".

I was hoping you would call bullshit on this 4chan claim. Kotaku leaked Syndicate if I remembered correctly and I was hoping for another leak for this years game.

Do you know anything about the Assassin's Creed Collection trademarked recently?

I know. In Unity the English dub for French characters had British accents. They could have spoken English with French accents but why bother

Its dumb. I've always found this to be dumb. If you want the accents then have the French voice, or Italian etc.

Do countries that don't speak English (such as Germany) ever make TV programs set in the US or England and then for example have people who speak German put on an English accent?

Assassins Creed - The Movie

A Telltale game.

Traditionally I'd expect a filler game, but I wonder if they're worried they're damaging the brand too much.

Filler games haven't exactly been off the chart successes lately either.

I find it stupidly hard to believe that the year a Hollywood Assassins Creed flick releases, that they wouldn't release a game with it.

If this is being done by the black flag team, there actually might be some weight to this considering the creative director of black flag (ashraf ismail) has gone on record saying he really wants to make an AC game in Ancient Egypt.

There's a rumor about an AC collection. I think that would suffice, no?

Strange that they would pick an open world to really be more "witcher" like in a landscape that is not very inviting. (Though a Lawrence of Arabia style AC game would be the bees knees).

If they would have a chosen Feudal Japan where you are a "samurai" in the same vein as witcher...roaming the country-side....Sweet Tapdancing Geebus.

This series is in DESPERATE need of an overhaul....What worked in the last gen...is just not working as well now...Too many other games are doing better things.

This news is literally the only thing that could have brought me back to the series. Open world Prince of Creed sounds awesome.

the pop claim doesnt make sense to me, if thats the case why pay for the license to make a crummy ios game? youd think that would have gotten turned into another AC game like Climax's Pop pitch

edit- this post was about there never being one again and not having to pay but then i remembered- didnt ubisoft flat out buy the ip from broderbund? im a little confused who theyd have to pay. would love if someone who knew the situation could explain it.

Yeah, in germany, the king of dubs, they do accents. Not always, but sometimes.

A historically accurate Egypt would be horribly unfun. I don't want to run around a world where 99% of people are deformed because of malnutrition/overwork and intrafamilial marriage is a thing. Ancient Egypt was neither romantic nor fun.

I will allow myself to be cautiously optimistic. Would still like to see a China/Japan creed...I would bite just to run around the environment.

If this is true, it does sound pretty cool, and it isn't too farfetched, take notice that there's an AC movie coming out later this year and Ubi still has to announce a big AAA for the end of the year.

We'll see but I'd be fine with this, even being a big fan of the series.

Guess we're gonna get an Ezio Trilogy remaster instead as our movie tie-in? Hell, they'll probably just remaster ACII, slap movie-related cover art on it and sell it at full price.
