4chan Rumor: No Assassin's Creed in 2016, 2017 in Egypt, Witcher inspired [Update]

Not sure if I like what all this means for parkour, looking forward to see if this story dies here or Ubi is "forced" to say something.
If they do that they won't have any resources left to pump out annualized assassins creed.

Doesn't sound right. It isn't an Assassin's Creed game, really then, is it? Just a new IP with the Assassin's Creed name attached for market recognition.

So this is my guess on what is going to happen.
Ubi is going to release the Ezio Trilogy on PS4/Xbox One
Then release Witcher/Dark Soul ACs. There will be one or two AC games before we get annualized Watch Dogs/The Division games.
In the mean time they are banking on Watch Dogs or the Division to become their next AC like series.
If that occurs then we won't see that many AC games. That is a big if, but that is what Ubi is banking on. This will be what happened with the PoP series last generation and with its movie.
Another scenario is that Watch Dogs nor The Division become huge hits like the AC series... Then we will get continued milking of AC with a sprinkle of Beyond Good and Evil 2/Watch Dogs 2/The Division this Winter (2016/17).
Also PoP Games will get relegated to mobile/cash in lite games. Unless things change there.

it made it seem like all of the stuff with Juno was FINALLY about to go down. It would be ridiculous to go through all of that and then have them go in a completely different direction with prequels

I swear Black Flag is probably one of the most overrated games in existence/the Assassin's Creed series.

I hope very much that this leak turns out to be true.I love the series, but they need a break and an overhaul really bad.
I find it hard to believe though that Ubi will let the film release without a game this year... wasn't there a rumour some time ago of an AC collection releasing in 2016? That's the only plausible way they won't release a new AC to cash in on the Fassbender hype.

Would it though? Feels like they are literally stalling for time and have no idea what they are doing. Plus, I haven't met one person who is pleased with the current modern day segments of AC

Just because the historical part is a 'prequel' doesn't mean any modern day segments have to be.
I totally agree. They don't seem to have any idea how to make the modern stuff be interesting and meaningful after they fucked it up in AC3. I don't think they ever knew where they were going with this, sort of like the G-Man or Lost.
They already had one game + one expansion with black protagonists. Why the hell would they hesitate to do another one?

I hope the developers/story writers are familiar with Gene Wolfe's magnificent Soldier series (Soldier of the Mist, Soldier of Arete, Soldier of Sidon). A very detail oriented tale of meeting varied gods (that only the protagonist can see/hear) and a multitude of tribes (possibly mythological) in ancient Egypt/Greece/pre-Roman-Empire Italy seems like fantastic inspiration for an AC game set in similar locales and period(s).

Everytime AC change the engine (AC1 AC3 AC5Unity and now this AC7 egypt) there is plenty of bugs.
They need to use again the same engine as AC5 and AC6. This is not good...

In terms of story, if nothing else, it's obvious Ubi don't know what to do with AC.
I mean, they've been pretty good with african, indian and other ethnicity characters in the past

Depending when in Egyptian history the protagonist should look anywhere from a very dark olive skin to almost Greek in appearance. Egypt has been around since the dawn of history, the Kingdom underwent massive population shifts in its history.
