4chan Rumor: No Assassin's Creed in 2016, 2017 in Egypt, Witcher inspired [Update]

I look forward to Not Assassin's Creed : FUCKING PIRATES AND SHANTY KARAOKE at the end of this year instead.

Whatever happens, I hope they revisit Syndicate someday. I really enjoyed the characters and setting and I'd love to see them get a shot at a good story.

That's why i take this news with a grain of salt.
What they create in AC6 (train, fight on dilligence) they can use it again in other timeline and i really think they will do with the "far west" and "cow boy" period.

But if they came back to Egypt they need to create new thing but it could be difficult because the Assassin will have "less" technology than the others before.

Fuck that, they've been wheel spinning that plot ever since AC3.

In terms of story, if nothing else, it's obvious Ubi don't know what to do with AC.

This sprawling mess of a franchise needs a creative at the head. And they obviously got nobody. It would be for the best if they started with a completely clean slate.

An Egypt setting would be no surprise, Black Flag had more than a few nods in that direction. Neither would a series revamp, after the abject failure that was Unity and the middling response to Syndicate.

It would be strange if there was no movie tie-in. Have they said they weren't going to do that?

The one thing I'm doubtful of is the lack of AC at E3. It's Ubisoft's biggest franchise and not showing it off at the biggest investor's meeting of the year seems kind of weird. My guess is they will announce the game just a year early, announce the collection, or show off footage of the movie.

Middling response for syndicate? Everyone said that the game is really good and it's one of the best AC.

Aren't Assassin's Creed rumors always true?
That's because the assasins can't prevent all those absergo spies from stealing their teammates/infos/pieces of eden/skill/influence.
It's true regardless of the fact that you are playing or not :)

I'm really surprised they didn't do a real pirate franchise considering the work they've done with BF and the fact that there isn't much competition on that aspect either.

A pirate game where you extends your influence across the seas , beat the army and steal their assets , build and customise your own private secret island and so on.
I kinda want black flag , without the assasin stroyline with more pirates, more ships, crew recruitment & training
Dammit ubisoft , why haven't you done that?
I'm sad that they won't do it

Edit : and more shanties ...more shanties are a must

Well I'll gladly accept some rest for the series, it's become so fucking tiring.

My favorite was III (never understood the hate, just like Uncharted 3), then hated Black Flag, hated Unity despite Paris and didn't even bother trying Syndicate.

Coming back with a strong new start seems the best course of action right now if they don't want to ruin their only AAA successful franchise.

Movies and Games are canon (ezio will make a cameo in the movie in 2016, it as hinted last august on twitter). So that mean that each time a movie and a game need to use a new historical period.

There will be connections between the movie (2016) and the game 2017. A character from the XV century Spain appear in Syndicate (a portrait on the Starrick office, a great templar obviously and the villain of the future movie).

They said they want to do that again with asian pirates.

Everyone said that because Shao Jun had a game in 2,5D last year that mean AC will not go to Japan. That's false. In fact, the ending of Chronicles China is quite teasing like if the game was a "prologue" to the 3D adventure.

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
Everyone has been asking for Egypt or Japan...So if it is in a Egypt setting heres hoping they dont Hollywood the MC and we get someone with some fucking colour for once.

The AC series has been a breath of fresh air in the industry in terms of characters with color. Yes there's still some work to be done, but I woudn't write it off.

Ancient Egypt and Rome is what I heard, but that was months ago. Pretty sure this 4chan poster is for real. What I'm curious about is whether they'll legitimately skip this year or do a filler game of some sort alongside the movie.

"Remaster collection" (for those that don't own PCs)

The average PC has 64 GB of ram? What?

The average dev PC? Sure. Especially if you're involved in any kind of debugging or art.

.

Have people forgotten Connor? & the great lengths Ubi went to to ensure the Iroquois were portrayed accurately?

I would love them to do a spiritual successor to Black Flag and have it full of fantasy elements on top of what you mentioned above. It would be so cool to board ghost ships, fend off a kraken etc

One of the writers of AC games already said that he wants to tell the ending story of Connor, Shay and Arno.
He said that everyone like Ezio because he had THREE games. He promised that the conflict between Shay and Arno AND the conflict between Connor and Shay isn't over.

People don't read database entries on AC =/ That's why they complain AC5 Unity to not speak about French Revolution (even if this was false)

They went far beyond database entries with ACIII. They hired an anthropologist, used actual artifacts, studied Black Robe, hired Iroquois speaking natives as voice actors, etc. It is one of the reasons I don't like people shitting on that game. It was risky and mostly quite good.

Yes i read the database i have a degree in anthropology and i'm quite amaze =D.
AC3 is still the best for me.

In fact this news may be true. Since AC4 Rogue, ubisoft tease us the event BEFORE Altair. It was teased on a file on AC4 and AC4R ; in AC5 Bellec said to Arno how assassins worked before Altair, and in AC6 Shaun interrogate Rebecca about the assassins before Altair, before "the assassins and the templars".

And finally, if you remember AC2, there was original statues of previous Assassin frome previous timeline , in a crypt under Monterrigionni. One of them is an Egyptian

You know, the leakers comments about making a Japan or China Assassin's Creed being too expensive are actually appreciated. I HATE when publishers give obviously bullshit lipservice for their decisions (I.e. Female animations are too hard).

It's so much more refreshing if they came out and said 'listen, we know y'all want an East Asian AssCreed, but that shit would cost too much money atm. Sorry fam.' At least we know the hold up and can stop asking. It's a shame, but it makes sense.

I want to believe. I love Egyptian settings and having more time and no pressure to push out AC sounds good. And my GOTY being inspiration!

The history stuff was cool but the gameplay was a turd, sorry.

Ancient Egypt sounds awesome. It sucks that they're stuck to this horrible franchise though (it's a huge seller, so I understand why). It'd be so much more interesting if they just made it a new IP with borrowed elements from the AC series.

Edit - When I say "horrible", I'm mainly referring to the narrative and lore they're forced to work with.

Skyrim won tons of GOTY and had one of the worst combat systems.

So here we are somebody misusing literally. The existence of skyrim is evidence that it isn't. Then there is the fact that I doubt skyrim is the worst, out of all games?

Modern setting completely lost the plot after the Lucy twist in Brotherhood.
Actually that was one of the highlight of the series along with the explanation in (lol) the DLC for AC: Revelations...

imho the plot was lost the moment ACIII ended the way it did and how badly they handled the "the player as the main character" thing in subsequent games.
