This is the Battlefront game I wanted; looks significantly better than EA's game. The idea that the unfinished alpha build of the classic style Battlefront has more content in it than the new one is kind of hilarious.

Hopefully the new Battlefront 2 has a single player campaign again, and both Clone Wars and New Trilogy era stuff in it, to fill the void, but I doubt it.

Less details mean they can make more content. The new Battlefront looks absolutely gorgeous because DICE is great at making pretty games. They focus on the little details.

I can't see how people are praising this unfinished build over the new Battlefront. It sure has a lot of content, but most of it looks PS2-era quality. Hell, they probably did reuse a bunch of assets from Battlefront 2.

I mean, if DICE could use the first two games as a base to just build upon and improve, of course we'd get a lot of content. But they had to start from scratch, so I think they did an alright job, except for neglecting some form of galactic conquest/campaign content. We can only properly compare Battlefront 2 whenever the next DICE Battlefront hit, so they will be on equal footing (estabilished engine, possibility of reusing assets, proven and more balanced gameplay, etc).

Yep 2 years for developing what DICE delivered is impressive to me. Would I like more? Of course. But I much prefer the new Battlefront to this PS2-quality one.

How is it hilarious? A game with textures from 13 years ago can have more content than a excellent looking game from 2015? That sounds about right to me.

This was too ambitious for its own good, but if a game with what the developers wanted to implement (20 maps, seamless land to space battles, etc) it would be a near perfect Star Wars shooter

Wow this is crazy! I love huge leaks like this but it makes me sad because it is the final nail in the coffin. It's like looking at a dead body and knowing that game won't be made.

It's the same way I felt about Blur 2 videos. Now we only have that crappy iPhone game (Blur Overdrive I believe)...

Maybe they could have delayed it or made the season pass a reasonable price? Just a thought.

They were banking on ep 7 hype yet didn't even include any episode 7 dlc lol, gotta save that for the $110 sequel.

That being said the videos here don't really get me excited either, it's pre-pre-pre alpha. Vehicles on the map are pretty cool though, RIP.

The latter for sure. But the former? No thanks, Battlefront combined with the Episode VII anticipation is what made the whole thing so special. It absolutely needed to release then.

That is exactly what it was.

Yeah, I'm sure EA and Disney would have agreed to miss out on the movie hype and the 12 million plus sales.

Also, $50 is the standard price for a season pass that includes 16 maps. Get over it or don't buy it.

I don't need to defend this game, it's sales do that just fine. It's so sad that you feel the need to jump on evert Battlefront thread and bitch about the game. Surely you have better ways to spend your time.

Which would have been understandable if they didn't announce after episode 7 was already out that they're saving episode 7 DLC for the sequel....

I wonder, anyone knows how much content did the first Battlefront have? It's funny because I always see people comparing DICE Battlefront with Battlefront II, but no one bringing up the original Battlefront. Just a thought.

Oh so I'm supposed to feel empathy for a game releasing with 4 maps for each mode because EA and Disney wanted to cash in on the Episode 7 hype (and then after Episode 7 releases tell us that there's no Episode 7 dlc coming until the sequel lol)? Sorry pal.

Oh and $50 is the "standard" huh? Better bring that up with Halo 5 or Driveclub or any of the number of recent games that have their maps/tracks as being completely free along with providing a decent amount of content at launch. Man it must suck to live your life and religiously defend a mediocre game every time a new thread pops up.

IMO the reason that no Episode 7 content is coming for the first game is because it's a way to introduce the newer generation to movies they may not have seen off the back of the Episode 7 hype. I mean, the movie was huge and a knock on effect was going to be kids asking for that new Star Wars game. Well now that new Star Wars game gives them something instantly relate to in the original movies should they decide to watch them, which considering their age and generally outdated FX it may not be so easy to keep their interest otherwise. Simply playing the game and being locked to original trilogy content alone might help raise interest, and it would kind of explain why no prequel stuff is showing up too since its reception is generally negative.

a game releasing with 4 maps for each mode

There are 4 maps for one mode. The others have more than 4.

I hope you have some evidence to call someone a "shill". Someone who enjoys a game, or fan of something sure, but shill... back that shit up homie.

You and SG-17 have been in nearly every Battlefront thread defending it from every criticism imaginable. Does that qualify?

1.
act or work as a shill.

Because we are fans, and gasp, actually enjoy the game, oh dear, never heard of those in gaming before.

Shill it is not. We do not pretend to like it for other interests, or are paid to like it.

The internet, even this site, must be riddled with "shills" then.

But let us pretend, and ignore the one's who fly to these posts like a beacon to unload shit about a game they do not care about. Which do you think is less toxic? We have our criticisms, head to the OT if you want to read them.

I like the new battlefront as much as the older ones. This looks like it coulda been cool, especially the ground to space stuff but im happy with what we got.

Agreed.

Even then, how is that shilling?

They're not actively making or persuading you to buy the game.

I suppose you're right. Their behavior was dismissive not shilling. Apologies.

This has no place here, nor does attacking the current Battlefront or defending it.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
This sure doesn't seem as finished as Free Radical kept saying it was.

According to the dash it's "gold" which makes me LOL with the transparent ships and 30FPS. Surely if it was "gold" it'd be better optimized and levels would be near complete.

Hmm....I wouldn't hold my breath for a single player campaign...It's EA after all, they are good at wrecking good shit....like removing any kind of epic single player campaign that millions of loyal star wars fans would of definitely loved and made that 60 dollar price tag look more of a fair & honest bargain.

I think epic, judging by Battlefield campaign's is a stretch, unless they somehow found their magic in Star Wars and made something equivalent to at least Star Wars: Republic Commando, lol.

But I know I would not have complained if there was a single player campaign, and surely would play it due to being a fan. But that is not to say that I have not gotten my money's worth when I put more hours into this game online, than any game in the past 2 years online/offline. And I was adamant if I would have fun enough to justify it, since I have not enjoyed online shooters since last gen with KZ2/Halo 3/Gears/Uncharted, and I was pleasantly surprised I do.

Sales aren't an indication of quality. It's a star wars shooter designed for all ages released at the same time as the new movie, it could have 2 maps and still would have sold what it did. Also isn't that what a forum is for, discussion? In that case surely you have better things to do than defend it

How EA can trick us into buying a game with 4 planets when this cancelled game had 0 says so much about the modern game industry

Why do people keep saying this?

Have you seen any other Star Wars media? They're not going around pretending they don't exist. They're still utilizing that era.
