Dream of one game localization no one else here would take as their pick

final fantasy and dragon quest in itadaki street special.

on the plus side we did actually get a single game from this series localized, it was as fortune street. on the minus side while fortune street had a couple minor improvements (such as the game being able to end by getting the money to go out by passing GO, or each character having a color instead of just 1st player being a certain color ect) it was vastly inferior to the ps2 game in a number of ways.

it for some reason did away with the little gauge on top of the player info boxes that showed you how close people were to being out. which is just odd.
but the big one is the ps2 version of the series has an entire mode that is missing from the wii version called sphere mode (instead you get mii costumes, bleh,)

sphere mode is a mode that completely alters the way the game is played, where players get power ups each time they pay rent that they can slot in a die they roll after they move to randomly choose a power up and can cause drastically different effects as the characters all have different classes and get different types of power ups. I understand that thematically this was clearly final fantasy based off the materia system in ff7, but there isn't a huge reason they couldn't have redone it to be dragon quest based for the mario x dragon quest version that is the wii version. It's just really sad the mode is missing because it's a lot of fun :(

on the plus side there is a very very rough fan translation of the game (very basic stuff translated a lot of stuff isn't) but still final fantasy characters > mario characters :p

I want more rhythm games!

Although I've heard the Japanese version has a lot of English in it, so maybe I can still play it someday.

It's doesn't have a lot of english, but it's extremely easy to navigate. Language barrier is very low!

Yep, rhythm games are one of the most import-friendly games out there. Sure, you'll probably need some trial & error navigating the menus but it's no rocket science and the gameplay doesn't need much explaining either.

I'm seeing a hell of a lot of (most) games in this thread that plenty of people would pick lol.

I can think of tons of JRPG's I'd want, but none that no-one else would look at and not think "yeah, I'd want that too".

You are not weeboo enough then, I will have to take back your otaku card please.
I can mention a ton of games that would interest just a handful of people. Just yesterday I was thinking how cool it would be for a translation group to take on Wachenroder or the Black Matrix series.
I'm a lost cause.

Ok. maybe Riglord Saga 2 or Feda on the saturn? I haven't met many other people who loved Mysteria realms of lore enough to want to see the sequel. I have the saturn versions of both wachenroder and black matrix just in cae lol

Since no one here said it yet, my pick would be:

The Trails series if that counts =P

I may not be alone in this, but the one game that I was really pulling for to release in the west somewhat recently was Shining Resonance on PS3. So, off the top of my head, that'd be my pick, though I'm sure there are other older titles I would possibly place over it.

I guess I would prefer older Shining. I played Resonance and, while not a bad game, it doesn`t have any redeeming features either, I guess you can also pray for Sega to bring Azure Revvolution since it`s the same team

Import it and enjoy. Little language barrier and you can play it easily.

Ys 4: Dawn of Ys.

Now it's been remade into a completely different game a re-release of the original version is never going to happen, but it's my favourite Ys game and a proper english release would be nice.

I paid good money for this Dynex!

The whole series, basically. We got EVE Burst Error and ADAM The Double Factor, but the translations were complete trash. Series has always seemed cool, though, and it totally has the '90s-as-hell vibe going for it.

I remember reading, way back in the day, about a Dreamcast game where you played as SEGA. The company. I don't really remember much else but I remember the concept sounding hilarious. I'm not sure it even came out, though I'd be even more surprised if it was localized.

This one isn't too high on my list because there's already a fan translation - a fan translation with DUBBED VOICE ACTING of all things - but yeah, I think I'd agree with you. An official one would be nice.

The Tower II did get localized in the US as Yoot Tower, but the Japanese version got expansions known as Towerkit that added more locations to the game to build on with special quirks for each. None of these were ever localized and appear to have been so rare that it's hard to find the originals to this day.

When I found out they existed I felt empty inside.

This game looks awesome. Is it any good?
There's a gaffer that played it a while ago and it seemed pretty interesting but I don't remember in which thread he posted.

Pray for this.

If I'm going to take the thread title as literally as possible then this would be my choice, because I don't think anybody else would pick this...

"Toro on Holiday"

As far as I can tell, it's a point and click adventure game where you play as Toro and explore real-life Japanese locations. It's something I'd genuinely like to play. I love Toro as a character, and Japan itself fascinates me.

Otherwise, my answer would be the Boku no Natsuyasumi games, even though there are others here who would pick them I'm sure. I own all the games, and I'm learning the language, so hopefully one day I'll be able to play them and understand what's going on, but for now I still can't help but deeply wish they'd gotten the localisation treatment.

Princess Crown - Sega Saturn

https://youtu.be/yIV2JqC37dk

It's the pre-cursor to Odin Sphere and VanillaWare in general.

A port to any system would be welcome, but it's too much to ask to port and translate :(

Not only do people definitely want this one (thus not being really much of a qualifier by the OP) it was actually ported to PSP - it's just that the PSP version was a hella lazy port.

The Adventure of Little Ralph.

You don't need to know any Japanese to play the game at all, but the game is great and I want to know what they're saying in the cutscenes.

Mirai Nikki; A PSP visual novel. I've never read the manga or anime but it's a series I've been intrigued by because it involves death and mystery (I believe?) and my preferred medium for this kinda stuff is through video games rather than anime.

A lot of the stuff in this thread, like Princess Crown, are being done. Lurk RHDN more. :p I would say Busin 0, the sequel to Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land.

You're right. I was just browsing through a lot a translation sites yesterday and there are indeed some wonderful projects in the work.
And I even discovered that Nayuta no Kiseki has been translated. I'm still in shock.

No one has said The Great Ace Attorney or Valkyria Chronicles 3 yet but I know plenty of us want them so....
Clearly it'll just have to be Donkey Konga 3 to complete my series collection.

More serious thought: Maybe Japan actually has an awesome modern wrestling game, I'd take that if such a thing exists.

Virtual On Force is at least region-free on Xbox 360, so you can import it if you want and there won't be any issues. It's also not like it has a lot of text/dialogue in it.

I want my normie friends to team with me though. Same reason I'd love a Phantasy Star Online 2/Nova localization. I play PS all the time but I'd love my friends to join me. Nova especially since it has a deep story and no online.

No fucking way anyone else here would want Mamankyoushitsu (NSFW)

(I know it has a fan TL)

If that does not count, then 12Riven.

Golden Time Vivid Memories

Golden Time was a guilty pleasure for me and i hear the game has even more stylish outfits for Koko. And more Yui Horie is always good.
