What else is at the event? More FFXV footage? Seems absurd to host a big event if all you're going to show is footage and a release date announcement for a single game.
They're renting a 6300 seat auditorium to reveal the game's release date.

The game was announced a decade ago. If there's ever been a release date announcement worth such an ordeal, this is it.

I always love that when Square-Enix announces a month for something, they try to put it at the very last day of the month.
Just once I'd like something to be at the beginning of the month.
FF7R episode 1 demo comes with XV
Hope the release date leaks just to knock the stupidity of these events.
Everyone I know that likes Final Fantasy but isn't die hard has stopped following all their video, streams and "coming/announcement soon" stuff and just wants the hard info.
I had multiple friends somehow miss the VII gameplay reveal just because they'd tuned out SE's marketing, and they love that game.
Would you say the same for Duke Nukem Forever?

Well they had to top the ridiculous XIII date announcement.

I dont. I think people are genuinely feeling hype and the interaction they have continued to make with the community is welcome. This game is gonna be huge when it eventually releases. Cant fkn wait.
Kind of interesting Kinda funny game gt this scoop and not, ign or gamespot.
i hope this happens.
To be fair nobody left at IGN or Gamespot have anywhere near the personality of Greg Miller.
Will be a pre-rendered compressed cutscene.
That's unrealistic. They couldn't keep the game under wraps for a whole year longer anymore. People were already giving them a lot of crap for FFXV being a no-show for almost 1,5 years after E3 2013 (and prior to E3 2013 people gave them crap each time Versus XIII missed another big gaming event with nothing shown or announced). Granted, the way they've handled some of the reveals since TGS 2014 could've been done better, but all in all they weren't really in a situation where they could just keep people completely in the dark anymore.Glad you are excited! I'm sure it will sell. I just think the hype could have been better managed by revealing it a year later than they did.
FF7R episode 1 demo comes with $250 XV collector's edition
I hope we get to fight an airplane in the game.

Quite frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if that's all they do announce.
They'll also have some new footage, but for whatever reason they seem to think that using a massive venue for the release date announcement is worth blowing a large portion of their marketing budget.
One would hope.
I hope we get some FF7R footage, with the announcement of a demo with FFXV.
Print that money Square.
They've already said that in addition to the release date announcement, there will be people from the team participating in the event, have some partnership stuff etc. . So no, they aren't JUST announcing a release date.Quite frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if that's all they do announce.

September 2016.
Has to be.

Now that would be an event!Obviously they're going to also announce 16 and 17 just like the old millenium event which saw 9, 10, and 11
