Hope the release date leaks just to knock the stupidity of these events.

Everyone I know that likes Final Fantasy but isn't die hard has stopped following all their video, streams and "coming/announcement soon" stuff and just wants the hard info.

I had multiple friends somehow miss the VII gameplay reveal just because they'd tuned out SE's marketing, and they love that game.

I always love that when Square-Enix announces a month for something, they try to put it at the very last day of the month.

Just once I'd like something to be at the beginning of the month.

I have been waiting since I was 14. Can't they throw us a bone? How about March 15th? Let's compromise squenix.

Well, most of that stuff is aimed at die hards, so...

Would you say the same for Duke Nukem Forever?

Definitely. A big crowd, pyrotechnics and stupid hype would've been perfect for that game especially.

Scrounging up enough people to care about DNF might've been a problem though. I don't know.

As wasteful as this event potentially is, and even though FF is by no CoD by any stretch of the imagination, it's clearly still treated both internally in the company, and from the mass consumer that a numbered FF represents the global flagship of Square Enix.

They want to pivot FFXV as a big deal, and is throwing a lavish standalone event not too different from how Acti does its annual "here's first reveal of CoD".

Is it a waste of money? Probably. Pride is very expensive though.

I dont. I think people are genuinely feeling hype and the interaction they have continued to make with the community is welcome. This game is gonna be huge when it eventually releases. Cant fkn wait.

Glad you are excited! I'm sure it will sell. I just think the hype could have been better managed by revealing it a year later than they did.

I know this sounds quite stupid...

To make an announcement of an announcement, but I really love the hype and these events, so I'll be waiting for this.

Love Kinda Funny, too bad Colin's not gonna be there (I suppose?).

I don't know how to feel about this. I still haven't played Episode Duscae because I'm just very nervous. I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan, and the XIII trilogy really bummed me out for the direction of the series. I hope Square Enix can recapture what Final Fantasy is, because there isn't another JRPG series like it.

But...I guess it's time.

That's unrealistic. They couldn't keep the game under wraps for a whole year longer anymore. People were already giving them a lot of crap for FFXV being a no-show for almost 1,5 years after E3 2013 (and prior to E3 2013 people gave them crap each time Versus XIII missed another big gaming event with nothing shown or announced). Granted, the way they've handled some of the reveals since TGS 2014 could've been done better, but all in all they weren't really in a situation where they could just keep people completely in the dark anymore.

Not to even mention FF is kinda important for Japan so they did need something to reveal for PS4 then & there, not in 2015.

They're renting a 6300 seat auditorium to reveal the game's release date.

Quite frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if that's all they do announce.

They'll also have some new footage, but for whatever reason they seem to think that using a massive venue for the release date announcement is worth blowing a large portion of their marketing budget.

People really need to watch the ATR's. They'll reveal the game in near complete state. You'll be getting tons of new footage. Release date. CE announcment most likely. Tbh this game deserves it. If tonights ATR was just a tease. I honestly can't wait to see what they reveal in the March event.

could you imagine being an attendee and just thinking "wow i am actually at an event for an announcement of a release date for a videogame...." I would have to rethink my life but honestly fuck it cause its FF15!!!!! GET HYPED!!!!

I hope we get some FF7R footage, with the announcement of a demo with FFXV.

Print that money Square.

I think it's gonna be an every six months thing until its first episode's release year, which seems like the end of 2017. So probably just E3 and Playstation Experience this year.

I also feel like, unless there is a demo with XV, showing anything 7R related would detract from XV. Showing something like World of FF would probably be good cross-promotion, but 7R's so big it would just end up stealing away attention to XV.

Plus, a demo of 7R with XV would be weird with the whole PS4 exclusivity thing.

They've already said that in addition to the release date announcement, there will be people from the team participating in the event, have some partnership stuff etc. . So no, they aren't JUST announcing a release date.
