This might seem a little silly considering you can get everything in the game for just playing but I'm seriously considering picking up SFV's Season Pass.

Hear me out before you all start pointing your fingers and laughing because as of the last beta you got what? 10 FightMonies per win? Now we know you should get enough if you go through the arcade and challenge modes to net you 1 character with change left over but honestly who here has actually tried to go through and beat arcade mode in vanilla SFIV and not grown tired or come unstuck on an unfamiliar character(s) challenges at some point. Plus if that figure is true and the amounts in the beta are even 10% of the final game that's one LoL like grind to unlock the rest of the other 5 DLC characters, even over 6 months.

So by ponying up £25 (or less if some site has a deal on) you get all 6 first wave DLC characters, swap costumes and get to keep all that FightMonies to spend on wave 2's DLC cast. And probably before they're even announced to the world you might have a stockpile to make even Scrooge McDuck green with envy.

Do we actually know how many FM you get per match / challenge / whatever Capcom thinks of next? It was pretty low in the beta, but they also explicitly stated that those values were not necessarily representative of how it would work in the final game. So I would at the very least suggest waiting until after the release to see how much work it actually takes, before you buy the pass. Other than that, go for it if you want.

Time to understand what all the hype is about.

I'm installing The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

Just know a couple of things:

for one, the game is padded as hell. There's a middle section with swamps, i had had enough of the game after 18 hours of pretty archaic combat and slow as molasses pacing, the swamps broke me completely.

also, it's got some pretty gross stuff involving collectible cards of women that you acquire by doing whatever it takes to have sex with them. I'm happy that CDPR moved away from this type of skeezy pandering to the male adolescent audience and outright objectification of women in their games with the other witcher releases.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Final Fantasy IX is up on the Android store, so it should only be a matter of time before the Steam release hits. It's $16.99 after a 20% launch discount, so expect a similar price on Steam.

Oh Project Phoenix.

Hello Everyone! My name is Daniel Dressler, I am a software engineer living and working in Tokyo. At my prior company I programmed the game logic for a popular Japanese Hearthstone-like game. Now I am excited to join CIA and help make Project Phoenix a reality!

Two years ago Hiro convinced me along with you guys, my fellow backers. Then late last year he did it again and convinced me to join up.

This surprised even me but Project Phoenix is far from a 0% codebase. Pascal did substantial work and has left us with codebase I am proud to work upon. Once Hiro gave me access to the existing UE4 source code the general quality of the code surprised me. Pascal did not cut corners when he laid the foundation of Project Phoenix. We may be looking towards another 2.5 years of development but honestly I look forward to spending that time realizing the full potential of Project Phoenix.

Well, at least they now have an engineer for realsies.

Will buy.

Hitman's beta will require a permanent internet connection, but the full game won't

Square Enix clarifies connection requirements ahead of this weekend's beta.

This weekend's Hitman beta will require a permanent internet connection to play, Square Enix has confirmed to VideoGamer.com, but the final game will not.

Questions about the game's requirements were raised after an FAQ posted by IO Interactive yesterday stated that players "will need an internet connection to download and play the Beta throughout the Beta period". But while the beta will need a permanent internet connection, that isn't the case for the final game, a Square Enix rep told us earlier today.

"Yes you can play the full game offline after you have downloaded an episode," the rep confirmed, "but there are live elements which you will need to access online."

Those 'live elements' were detailed yesterday, and include new weekly/monthly Contracts and additional weapons and outfits. The live content will be available free of charge to all players.

Hitman's closed beta launches on PS4 this Friday, February 12, and on PC next Friday, February 19, and allows players to get to grips with the game's Prologue mission. The beta is not coming to Xbox One.

To get in you'll need to either pre-order the game digitally on PS4 or PC, or purchase the Collector's Edition from the Square Enix Store. Physical pre-orders do not include access to the beta.

The season premiere, meanwhile, which includes the Prologue mission and the previously revealed Paris level, releases on PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 11.

The OT popping up on gamingside reminded me that Everybody's gone to the rapture is still a thing. I'm kinda surprised that they haven't officially announced it yet, considering the leak happened months ago. They're working on it nigh daily.

Late 2018 then. That's a 3 year delay from its original planned releasedate.

And that's more than enough time for even more delays to happen.

Holy shit!

I didn't know much about Galak-Z, just watched Austin Walker play a bit of it. I was pretty pumped when I got to season 2 and watched my ship
turn into a robot

ignorance pays off!

So should be $13.59 on GMG if they include the launch discount and let you add the current 20% off as well.

I'm hoping so. Seems a lot better than the $39.99 price tag it had there previously.

Woah nice, wishlisted! Now we just need Vietcong, come on! Who have the rights to these titles? Take-Two?

Oh wow, and here I were planning on buying Dragon Quest VI today. Might just save the money for FF IX on iOS; hopefully it releases today as well!

they should put soldier of fortune on steam

I'll sign this!

So many great posts on this page alone.

Released on iOS now too.

Probably will hit Steam when the store updates in a few hours would be my guess.

How much? I know I am not one to usually give a shit about prices but, FF9 is 10 dollars on PSN and I don't think what they are doing to this is significant enough for that.

Weird.

Weird.

all these rereleases of the FF games have been premium priced.

To be fair, they do put some work into them. It's not simply a playstation iso running in an emu, they add features and extras with these releases.

I cant remember much of tr 2013 but yeah it dies leave much to be desired
They should just take the bow and arrow combat and make a game js.ust about that
Maybe even a sniper game xp

We get it. You didn't like it. Not sure why you bothered with RotTR if you didn't like TR2013 that much.

Go play Strider or something. :p

It sold very poorly on Xbox one, AFAIK. Hopefully it will sell well on PS4 and as you said the Lunar sale may be the reason for it dropping off of the best seller list.

You're right, it wasn't a great seller in it's launch week, that's for sure. There were threads about it here on GAF, I'm certain of it. For some reason my memory wants to say it was in the 60k range initially... though I'm not sure what it is now.

Just started Witcher 2. Wow, the tutorial throws everything at you doesn't it? Feels kinda weird and overwhelming with M+KB. Is controller the way to go here?

Controller is *always* the way to go.
I played The Witcher: Enhanced Edition with a controller and had a good time.

Impressive. I did get the platinum for DS2 on PS3. DS had that one stupid achievement which need you to get all weapons, one of which is only achievable by killing abt 15/30 members of the Darkwraith covenant as a member of the Blade of the Darkmoon covenant. That was a pain coz hard to find those people to invade and I gave up.

Nothing required for a trophy/achievement in the souls series has ever required actual invasions. There's always a secondary way to get them (like the miracles/spells you have to wait until NG++ to buy in Dark Souls 2).

Everything for the all unique weapons trophy/achievement (Knight's Honor) can be seen in this list:
http://darksouls.wikia.com/wiki/Knight's_Honor

There is one or two tied to covenant, but even if it's something where you need to rank up in a covenant to get it, there are ways around it. In Dark Souls this is usually by farming the drop for the item you need to level up in the covenant (if I remember correctly, and it's been awhile, you can farm the eyes of death for gravelord's covenant by killing basilisks in the sewers (and for some reason I think the magic number there is 9), and you can farm the souvenir of reprisal by killing the crow lady monsters in the Painted World).

I couldn't play beyond ACT 2. The combat is so atrocious.

If you can tolerate it, then you'll do fine.

The combat is fine. It just takes a little bit of rhythm.
Everyone lauded the combat in TW2 as "much improved" but it was very much the same to me as TW:EE.

um. TomBraider won't let me pick up the Combat Knife to cut the rope in the Abandoned Mine.

Halp?

Even outside the usage of that stupid name for the game, I will answer you, since I know you're a good guy. :p
You don't pick up the combat knife. It's given to you in the story, I think... I know you can't get it until after you exit the first major hub area at least.

Weird.

Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI are routinely on sale on the PSN store for $5. I think they're the same $10 as FF9. And yet their steam counterparts (and iOS and Android) cost >$15. Considering that it's not something that's readily available (legally) outside of PSN or buying a physical disc and a working PSX (and suffering through the horrible load times), the $6 extra isn't something that's easily overlooked if you really want to play it on your PC or phone/tablet. You're always welcome to go buy a PSP/Vita/PS3 and go download it for the $5 savings on PSN, though. ;)

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Otherside finally processed my Underworld Ascendant pledge that I submitted a good few weeks ago now. Well, I say "finally", but I read that slacker backer pledges are processed quarterly, so I wasn't expecting progress until the end of March.

Unfortunately, "Underworld Ascendant for Beta Testing" suggests to me that the final game isn't going to have its own app, but, hey, better safe than sorry. I seem to recall reading that the prototype wouldn't lock you into a platform, though (i.e. you could still opt for a GOG key for the final game, as was the case with Pillars).
