tinfoil hat me feels like that was the entire purpose behind Roman's win, Mr. H's wants dem massive wrestlemania pops (that he's never really gotten before)
Tinfoil hat you is right on the money.
Triple H wants to be loved more than anyone.

Smart fans need to shit on this match like they did Goldberg vs. Lesnar. But they won't.
They will feed Triple H's ego instead.

Good on ignoring the rest.

I watched 'wrestling isn't wrestling' again recently and yes, this makes total sense.

"Vince, how about you put me over Reigns at Mania and then it'll even bigger when I drop the belt to Rollins when he comes back in August? And as a side note, the IWC will love me even more."

Once I realized that HHH winning the Royal Rumble was literally the only option that would let them get to Wrestlemania the way they want to, I had a Kobayashi coffee mug sort of moment.

Styles is 38. He's not going to be the face of the company, or a main eventer. He has no business doing so at this point in his career. He should be used to get younger guys over with great matches. No more, no less. Ambrose is only 30, he's white hot with the crowd, kills it on the microphone when given the chance, and no slouch in the ring. In 2016, Ambrose has a hell of a lot more upside to WWE than Styles.

Now all I can think about is HHH's reaction to the fans jeering him when he was stumbling up the ramp after his loss to Lesnar at Summerslam and his failed attempt at milking it for sympathy.

Yet Styles somewhat looks way younger in the ring

The same Philly that chanted "you deserve it" when Roman Reigns won the world's title?!

A December RAW is totally different than a Road to Wrestlemania crowd. Especially when we're going to get weeks of Triple H subtly playing faces to the IWC crowd like he did in the run up to Triple H vs. Cena.

So when you reach a certain age, you aren't allowed to be a star anymore? It doesn't depend on your performance?

Ambrose is not white hot with the crowd. He is cheered, and thats about it.

This is a company that made Batista, despite being older than him, beat Triple H win the title at Wrestlemania 21. Also the guy who won the Rumble and was gonna headline Wrestlemania 30. Not a knock on Dave, but age means nothing in that company. Especially for a 38 year old.

Does he look strong? A dime, a dozen, not even any significant powermove like the jackhammer. Does he look badass and intimidating? No, more like a jock trying to look badass and intimidating. Can he wrestle? No, go watch Cena vs Lesnar at Backlash 2003. Can he talk? No. Why should he be the face of the company? Booking means nothing if the presence around you isn't there. Owens can't win because he's a fatass, Ambrose can't win because he's a scrawny truck driver, Titus is sidelined because of a shoulder bump. Roman is there because he looks good on a poster?

Because Brock is pushed as a badass who wins all the time.

Wrong, because Brock is the smark strongest champion of all time. It doesn't matter if you book him weak or strong, people know he can kill anybody in the roster at will, so he's above booking.

They employ a 1000 year old daemon Kane and are run by an elderly man who is obsessed with trying to appear as virile as he has ever been in his life.

This is the company that booked Roman Reigns into WrestleMania 30 minutes ago despite being massively booed in every city at all times and despite the fact having done so last year was a huge debacle they had to fix by having a run in by Rollins

Kinda hard to use age as an argument against anyone when a part time, almost 50 yr old is the WHC and headlining Wrestlemania....

This isn't remotely true.

No, he's right. Brock started getting popular like he is now after he killed Cena at Summerslam. After his return match a few years ago, the crowd became mostly indifferent to him. Unless we're going to ignore the crickets in his matches with Jimmy and Undertaker at Wrasslin'Mania of all places. The crowd didn't care unless it was Cena or Punk opposite him.

AJ is a vanilla midget who was successful anywhere but in the WWE, Batista was vince's fetish come true and he was nothing before meeting HHH. He was two years younger and his run at the top didn't really last very long.

WWE needs younger stars, and a lot more of them. Ambrose isn't exactly as fresh as a daisy and the ship has likely sailed on him being a main event level star, but I'm just using him as an example. WWE isn't gonna dig itself out of the rut they're in by pushing a 40 year old with back issues to the top of the card.

Ambrose can actually talk on the mic unlike Roman. How are they going to solve that problem with Roman? How can this man be top of the company when he can't talk?

I have to disagree with you on this one, Jesse. Despite their reputation as bloodthirsty mutants, I think Philly fans recognize talent when they see it. That's why they marked out for Hulk hulking up against Stinger. And I think they genuinely appreciate how hard Roman works to the point where they won't take the bait when HHH plays his games with them.

Okay fine in cities that aren't Corpus Christi

No, WWE needs stars.

Wrestling is star-based, always was and always will be. Young or old stars, doesn't matter.

That we've come to call Dean Ambrose, at 30 years old, "not exactly fresh as a daisy". Hulk Hogan was almost 40 when winning his first WWE title.
Shinsuke Nakamura is just arriving at age 35 or 36, should he just be a guy because he's not 24?

Listening to the LAW and everyone is saying "Im not excited for Wrestlemania" but nobody is saying "I'm not watching Wrestlemania"

I feel like we have a pretty wide sample size for most wrestling fans, so ask yourself, for the amount of years watching WWE, does it seem like more often than not Vince McMahon and his team have no idea what they are doing? Because it does to me. So these results should not be surprising.

I'm looking forward to it.

I got Reigns vs. Jimmy which should be great. Not as great as a match against Barack, which I still can't understand not happening, but it'll do. Just need Joan Cena vs. Undertaker and Ambrose vs. Barack now, and I'll be all in.

31 is almost 40?

Well, at least Reigns being stuck in a feud with Haitch means I can easily just ignore it in favour of whatever else. Because I frankly don't give a shit who wins out of that pairing.

Age doesn't mean as much in wrestling as people think honestly. The last few decades has pretty conclusively proven that if you take care of your body you can wrestle well into your 40s and still be a draw and/or have good matches. It's not like the NFL or something where you are done as soon as you hit 35.

Once you get into your 50s is when it gets iffy.

Ryback has new attire?!

That actually looks a lot better than his old one.

Edit:

That has the Fastlane tag. I don't even remember seeing him on the show.
