Add dehumanizing snore to the list.

On Sunday, police responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle parked on Manchester Boulevard around 3:10 am. When police arrived, they engaged in a 45-minute long standoff before opening fire on the man and woman inside the vehicle, killing them both.

In the news release on Monday, following the shooting, police claimed that the woman in the car had a gun. Scott Collins, a spokesman for the Inglewood Police Department said that the couple refused to obey the officers’ commands to exit the vehicle. The officers then feared for their safety and opened fire on the car — killing the couple.

The woman was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting, and the man succumbed to his injuries after paramedics transported him to a local hospital, according to the LA Times.

The shooting seemed like an open and shut case until the next day. Mayor James Butts, while responding to questions about the shooting, opened up a huge can of worms — both the man and the woman were unconscious.

For at least 45 minutes, police attempted “to rouse” them in an effort “to de-escalate the situation,” said Butts.

After admitting that the couple was asleep, Butts quickly defended the officers, noting, “Obviously at some point they were conscious because somebody felt threatened.”

However, that notion has yet to be proven and is particularly unlikely due to the fact that not a single officer received so much as a scratch, nor did the couple have any reason to be violent.

Both of the victims were parents; Kisha Michael, 31, a single mother of three sons, and Marquintan Sandlin, 32, a single father of four daughters.

Michael’s twin sister Kisha stated the obvious when she said that it’s possible that Kisha merely passed out on the way home from their night out.

Families for both described them as devoted parents who made arrangements for care of their children while they took a night off, according to NBC Los Angeles.

“The police ain’t telling us nothing,” said Trisha Michael after being met with tight lips from the department.

“He was a loving father,” said Sandlin’s sister Leandra Faulkner. “All he cared about was his girls, getting them right.”

Of course, as is standard procedure for all those killed by police, their arrest records were released to shame them. Michael was on probation for a misdemeanor last year, and 7 years ago, Sandlin was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm in Los Angeles.

According to his relatives, Sandlin had a ‘rough life’ but had turned it around and was working as a successful truck driver.

Sadly, these children will now grow up knowing that their parents were taken from them by cops, scared of a sleeping couple.

Edit -

News report on the incident.

-Cops respond to call.
-Cops come across both sleeping in the car and see a gun.
-Cops isolate the area.
-Cops gives orders to exit the vehicle.
-???
-Cops shoot them dead.

In the news report, a neighbor says the cops opened fired a few seconds after giving the orders. The news report doesn't state if they were awake after the cops turn up.

Killed because they were sleeping and cops feared for their lives. This whole fearing for your life is the most bs excuse by cops.

Who is the asshole that called the cops for someone sleeping in their car?!? They have just indirectly killed these 2 people and ruined the lives of their kids.

OK well were they conscious at the moment they decided to shoot to kill? Because if not then the cops are in the wrong.

Reminds me of California settling with the mother daughter who were delivering newspapers and had their truck shot over 200 times. The cops luckily were as incompetent in shooting as they were in identifying suspects. This was during the manhunt for that former cop. Who happened to be over 6 ft tall and black. Not female and Asian and two people.

This shit makes my blood boil, what the fuck is going on these days?

Don't cops get the idea that they can't get away with acting this way in this day and age? most cops are decent and good people but the few sour grapes of the lot are just disgusting.

Well.....

This reminds me of an episode of what would you do when the producers where having white kids trash a car and the cops where called to the location because some black kids were asleep in a car.

The thing I'm wondering is if they ABSOLUTELY KNEW they were unconscious then what exactly do they have to de-escalate? Like what did they formally do in those 45 minutes? Set up a barricade and a firing squad because I mean shit. I get the idea that they'd want to be cautious in engaging but still 45 minutes just staring at two sleeping people??

This is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard of in my life. Poor families. Someone better get charged with murder but lets face it, somebodies getting a paid vacation for this.

Im not from the us and i know that periodically this kind of stories pop up, but this is ridiculous, makes the us police look like a third world country institution.

I want to know this too. Then you have some idiot cop claiming he saw a gun. If you can "see" a gun, then you can see them sleeping.

This story makes no sense. Were they really shouting at a car with two sleeping people for 45 minutes before opening fire?

No, someone felt threatened because that person, and the police department, are so poorly trained they can't differentiate between people sleeping and an obvious threat.

These idiots would probably shoot a decaying corpse if it seemed "threatening".

7 kids lost their parents and 2 people lost their lives, just terrible. I really hope this will get major, mainstream attention but I don't have much hope.

Police can do no wrong.

I'm trying to picture this in my head and I just can't. it sounds fucking awful but the image of cops yelling at a car with sleeping people in it for 45 minutes is straight out of a cartoon.
