Our beta program for PlayStation 4’s next major system software update, version 3.50 (codenamed MUSASHI), kicks off tomorrow. If you signed up for the beta and were selected, keep an eye on your email for instructions on downloading.
Regardless of whether you’re in the beta, we wanted to detail some of the key features we’re adding to PS4 in this update. We’re making it easier to play together with friends and adding the ability to appear offline when you’d rather play solo.

New Social Features
Friend Online Notification – Want to know the moment your friends come online? With this update, you can, as we’ve added an option to be notified when members of your friends list sign on the network.
Appear Offline – Sometimes you want to play a game or watch a movie without being bothered by friends. Now it’s easier to go incognito as we’ve added the option to appear offline. You can designate if you would like to appear offline when you log-in or at any time from your Profile or the Quick Menu.
User Scheduled Event – Time for a play date! We’ve added the ability to schedule a future gameplay session with your friends on the system. When your event starts, users who registered for the event will automatically be added to a party so you can start playing right away.
Play Together – This features allows all members of a Party to see what each person is playing so that you can easily join a friend’s game, or start a new game together.
Other New System Features
Remote Play (PC/Mac) – We’re bringing PS4 Remote Play to Windows PC and Mac. This feature won’t be available to test in the beta, but you can look forward to it soon.
Dailymotion – With this update, you’ll be able to live stream directly to Dailymotion on PS4. We’ll also support archiving live broadcasts, like we do for other streaming services.

Those first 2 'features' are standard features that should of being included 2 years ago at launch. Especially when one of them was available on the PS3.

Literally yesterday, I wanted to use the appear offline option, only to find that doesn't exist. Glad to see they're adding it now.

Great news about friend notifications and going incognito.

People still banging on about folders I see, the UI is so easy to navigate.

This is a good update, friend online notifications and appear offline are probably the most requested basic features just below folders and changing your PSN name.

Appear offline and Remote Play on PC, I'm happy with that.

Wonder if that "Play Together" was why they tried to trademark "Let's Play"

Oooh Remote Play from PC/Mac is potentially amazing.

I use Remote Play on Vita all the time. But sometimes I don't have my Vita on me.

People slag them off because it doesn't have it then people slag them off when they bring it because they didn't do it fast enough.

They are hardly killer features that sell systems.

It's absolutely ridiculous that some of these features weren't there on day one. Sony must have no clue. I know they aren't a software company, but shit.

I hope you can tag the friends you want to be notified for .. people with hundreds of friends in their list won't appreciate pop ups every 10 seconds.

We're talking about BASIC features here that should have been included day one.

We're almost there though, soon you won't have to read these unbearable posts anymore

Mh if the beta starts tomorrow, what's the point of giving an incomplete list? NDA or not, people will post all details of Musashi within minutes/hours.

I wonder why the Remote Play feature isn't available in the beta, I guess because the PC client still has to be released?

"Remote Play PC/Mac"

...could this mean official Dualshock 4 Drivers for Windows/Mac??

How would it work otherwise with the Dualshock touchpad when using for exampel an Xbox 360 controller?

2 years is a joke of a time to add such a basic feature when it was there on an older generation console and the VITA. They deserve to be ridiculed for it.

My wired PS4 is fine. Wifi is shit though.
