PlayStation Store: February’s Top Downloads

Bit conflicted about Firewatch charting so high. Was a big technical mess..

But I'm also surprised, was there any big marketing behind this game? I mean, I was looking forward to it but I didn't expected the general public to care at all about the game. Probably good reviews + word of mouth, still pretty crazy to beat Far Cry and the likes.

SFV's story mode: No adjustable difficulty. Same 3 opponents. Must skip through cutscenes.
Arcade mode: 8-10 opponents, most of which vary. Adjustable difficulty outside options, and scaling difficulty as you go through the mode. Cutscenes are only at start or end or both.

I like to use Arcade mode when I learn a new character in training mode and I want to see how I can use what I learnt in a real match, without the pressure of fighting real people. Arcade mode lets you fight a bunch of different matchups really quickly, as is great for feeling yourself when you start landing combos on CPU and such.

Understood. My comment was meant for the person I replied to. He said he doesn't care about story, wants a quick, casual experience, and should be super easy so he can use even characters he's not good at.

How on earth are we even getting a Gravity Rush 2. People are just not buying it anywhere.

Also good job Rocket League, still going strong.

  6. Spyro The Dragon Trilogy (8)
  7. Final Fantasy VII (4)
  8. Final Fantasy VIII (6)
  9. Disney Pixar Toy Story 2 (RE)
  10. Lego Star Wars II (RE)

As for US PSN

3 Star Wars Bounty Hunter
4 Dark Cloud 2
5 Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Where are you getting Lego Star Wars 2 from? That's not a PS2 classic is it?

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
So, is there any reason for someone who doesn't really know Digimon to want to play this new game?

That's really the whole point...you might as well consider it generic Atlus SMT game with Digimon creatures. The story is completely stand alone and you need to information about Digimon.

I'm surprised Digimon isn't higher considering it sold much more than expected according to Namco Bandai...but i guess even that wasn't so much. Its okay though, glad it atleast did well for itself.

Naruto was expected. The series is bleh...but those games...

A tentative release date of 2016. I sincerely doubt it'll even be coming out this year based on the little we've seen of it so far.

We've seen more gameplay footage of Gravity Rush 2 compared to Mirrors Edge Catalyst (which is coming out in 2 months). Where is this doubt coming from? Has there been news of development trouble? They had gameplay footage in the announcement and have shown off more gameplay in subsequent events. GR2 on PS4 rumors were going around for quite a while before it was first revealed, and right from the getgo a 2016 release date was given alongside the announcement of a remaster for the first, which just released last month (which would usually be done in close proximity to the related sequel).

I have no doubt that it'll be releasing this year. It seems like Sony didn't want another TLG and held this close to the chest until they were ready to announce a release window.

Man the rage that's going to come when Naruto outsells SFV in February NPD.
As a point of comparison when those NPD results come out, the full-featured release of vanilla Street Fighter IV also shipped in February back in 2009 and sold 849,000 copies in its first month across the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Ummm why are you guys lol at Naruto beating SFV? Naruto is awesome and has some of the best animations and fight scenes in gaming. It also is closing the story segments of a manga that has lasted for like 15 years and is popular in the west.

Naruto might sell like 3 million units lol. Nothing to sneeze at

I didn't say anything about super easy, the AI in previous Street Fighters is decent enough(if you set it to the right level) to provide me with some challenge which I do want even if I'm casually using a character for the first time. The current story mode sounds highly lacking in both difficulty and number of fights.

Very nice numbers for Digimon. Bamco is probably pretty satisfied with those Vita numbers. Next Order has a good chance of being a lock for Vita, don't know if those PS4 numbers would justify it being ported over.

Also, wow. PS4 owners really wanted Gravity Rush, huh? I mean nobody owns a Vita, right? It's practically a brand new game.

This if anything I'm loling at people legit freaking out over that.

Yeah Digimon! Happy to see it charted, and topping the Vita! Sad Gravity Rush didn't know. SFV not even charting in EU while Digimon did? Oof

Minecraft really is a once-in-a-lifetime game. It just keeps on selling.

Every month I wait for it to miss the top 10...and it's still there.

Considering it can run on a bare bones PC and is also on mobile, I am surprised there is still a heavy market on consoles. Especially with the still strong mod scene on PC.

Further, I could be wrong but I don't recall seeing it discounted often, if at all.

Exactly. Naruto is actually a fairly big game.

Same reaction here, along with The Witness.

Wtf???

Edit: If it ends up making SCEA AND SCEE re-think any plan for a western release of Gravity Rush 2, I'm gonna flip some tables here...
Well probably not, but I'd be a bit pissed.

Well, I believe Sony has said they want to take the franchise to new heights (they've started an anime!) but it is also a matter of Sony not really caring about the numbers. They just want to make the game because they like it. I had a blast with GRR so I am glad that is their stance on GR2.

Digimon placing in the top 20 on console and doing smoking hot on Vita bodes well. I hope we get a direct sequel. I managed to convince some friends to get this.

Is this the end for the street fighter franchise? Or capcom fighters in general? I think so.

Dawn of NRS is upon us boys.....

Anime fighters exist even if Capcom fighters die. If Anime fighters suffer a similar fate I will just stop playing new fighting games.

Lmao, the PS4 digital games surely sell magnitudes better than their Vita counterparts, so the placement doesn't matter in this case when we don't have numbers.

Not to mention PS4 SKU crushed the Vita one on every PAL Chart (and will in NPD) if the latter even had a release since it's not really worth it considering no Vita retail games sell anything significant anymore in the West.

So I am guessing casuals are important to SFV after all. Who would have guessed?

Good to see Digimon on Vita chart but disappointing to see it so low on PS4.

I don't know what i'm most disappointed about, SFV or The Witness. Nothing is looking good for SFV but we will see how bad it is on NPD, as for The Witness it just seems like it flopped on Playstation for some reason.

Both great games, sad to see.

Happy for Campo Santo though, despite Firewatch not being as fantastic as i hoped.

Wishing The Witness had charted. Amazing game.

Congrats to Campo Santo. I enjoyed Firewatch and thought it had problems, but I absolutely support that game and the developer. Very unique concept that deserves all the sales.

But seriously that's a crime The Witness isn't on this list. Hope the fall wasn't too steep.

I will buy SFV when I goes on sale for under $20. Capcom really fucked up that launch!

1. Vita Digimon didn't have a physical release in NA or Europe. Please know what you're talking about before using such definitive words as crushing. Being on PS4 doesn't mean guaranteed sales, and this has been proven time and again. See Tearaway and now Gravity Rush. Curb the fanboyism.

2. If we look at the kind of games above Digimon PS4, games that sold because they were on sale, we can probably get a good idea of where Digimon Vita would place. Considering prices, audience, and availability, I'd wager it would probably fall somewhere between NBA and Life Is Strange, being a niche JRPG released in a digital-exclusive format.

Also considering the placement of SAO Hollow Fragment on both platforms, being the same price on both systems, the PS4 version probably sold slightly better due to being a newer product. Looking at its placement compared to Digimon Vita, it sold significantly less there, while the PS4 version sold slightly more than Digimon PS4.

So yes, it's very likely that the Vita version of Digimon sold more than the PS4 version digitally. Sorry.

Glad to see Digimon doing well. I bought mine physical on PS4 but will be double dipping on Vita the moment it goes on sale.

I can think of 40 reasons why The Witness didn't chart.
