NPD Sales Results for February 2016 [Up1: Fire Emblem]

I don't think SFV failed as miserably as I thought it would. It actually did ok. If the game launched with the upcoming march patch I think today we would be seeing a different NPD list.
Neither do I. Hopefully Final Round tourney play will bring some people around.

Wow, making SFV without key features that are desired by the casual audience seems to not have paid off at all for Capcom.

Fixed your typo.

If it was also on XB1 (that has a lower install base) it's not like it would have done a lot better. It still would have been a decline from SFIV's opening. A substantial decline.

Wish we could make a thread to discuss SFV franchise sales decline. I think theres a discussion to be had there about cause and effect.

Wasn't there one made for Halo? Just the chart position and news about Naruto outselling it on the same platform should be enough.

I honestly didn't expect Birthright to outsell Conquest, figured fans were up for some classic FE challenge.

Fuck chapter 10, RIP my Nyx.

Not sure if I'll get to it or Revelations after I'm done with Conquest.

Going by Steamspy numbers SFV's legs are already showing. The game will be fine as time goes on, but that 2 million by March forecast is donezo

Well that wasnt great to begin with.

Even a 3D remake of Pokemon Red/Blue exploring Kanto in an RPG setting would probably make me cry with happiness.

Ive waited every E3 for something like that.

Well, there's no point in doing that since the could put much less money on a new handheld entry and sell double or triple of what that would sell.
Also, TPC gives 0 fucks about selling Nintendo hardware, be it handheld or console, they jusy announced an all new game coming out this year for the 3ds when the NX will most likely also hit this year and a new pokemon game could be a huge factor in driving adoption of the platform.

360 was available for as low as $279 by Feb 2008. 360 has a price advantage against the XB1

Ok. I dont see hwo that goes against what I'm saying though. THe whole conversation started because I said XB1 will fall below 360 LTD in the next few months and people decided to tell me how that wouldn't happen because 360 didnt sell well until kinect. I corrected them by saying it was regularly up YoY and insisted that Xb1 will fall below 360 within the next few months. Soooo while totally accurate I'm not understanding what the price differential has to do in he context of the conversation.

If we are going by software releases and their ability to increase hardware, what is the next month where the X1 realistically has a chance to outsell PS4?

I am thinking gears but even that i'm not sure if x1 is same price as ps4, or if gears declines like Halo did.

I'm willing to bet EA envisioned a bigger opening thatn 18K for PvZ2. Esp with the endcaps they bought in major retailers (Target/BestBuy at least I saw) and other marketing.

that is project x Zone 2 not plants vs zombies garden warfare 2, i made the same mistake when i first saw it too

The XB1 would be up YoY if it was below $299. It hasn't received a price cut in over a year. Just arguing that part.

Nope never got the ok to make a thread but I was given permission to bring it up in the Halo OT so I did that.

Next month had a decent chance but that got obliterated with Quantum Break going PC and MS PR torpedoing the desire to own a X1 right now. That and Sony will have MLB the show in its second week and R&C that month. I would not be surprised if both sell better than Quatum break retail for April.

Good to see Fire Emblem doing well. Birthright selling better seems obvious to me simply based on which one is easiest to recommend to newcomers, even if the one being asked for the recommendation might personally prefer Conquest (and I am among the many who do). Either way, sounds like Conquest sold quite well too if they would boost Fates collectively up to 3rd.

PS4 v Xbox One...I wish both well and would prefer very competitive battle. Although I am one of those content for now with PS4 (and a still very active 360).

Not sure I agree but its a pointless argument to make since its a hypothetical that didnt occur and, as such, doesn't really have any baring on the general trajectory of current sales.

Ugh, now I wnat to know how many people bought the other versions of Fire Emblem as DLC and how many people also bought the Season Pass that doesnt include them.

The fact that we already know that there is also going to be a 2nd Season Pass too!

IntSys and Nintendo are managing to make this niche franchise in one of their big hits.

I don't think quantum break had much of a chance against cod bundle. The gap is fairly big so far in 2016. Especially not at the same price.

Sad about SF but this trend will continue I feel. People don't like to lose and need to be coddled. This new gen of phone game, pay to win, people will reject even more.

No way to make people accept losing unless COD model. Make you feel good, and give buffs, if your garbage with perks.
