Pretty much looks like Tales of the World : Radiant Mythology on PSP.

It wouldn't surprise me if they reuse the same assets, they already did something like this for Tales of Asteria but I'd say The Rays is taking it one step further.

I'm still waiting to see what the final form of the game would be though, Tales of Link had an original plot, characters and all and it didn't stop it from being your typical low budget gacha f2p game, The Rays may look a bit more ambitious on the technical side (but even that remains to be fully seen) but it will still probably be far from what your typical Tales of Spin-off were on handhelds until a few years ago (mostly thinking about the 3 Narikiri Dungeon and the 3 Radiant Mythology there)

Available in these stores.
You can also check Amazon.jp and Yodobashi sites and it's available there as well.

Is it March 2014 again when you couldn't find PS4 available while you could?

I think blogs talked for tight shipments in March, not for unavailability. It likely has something to do with the end of FY and shipments production schedule.

To be fair here. The report didn't say the game is a failure. It only said that The Division was first and sold great, Summon Night 6 second (combined) and Zelda TP third.
Another user guessed 100 > The Division > Summon Night 6 > 50k that doesn't mean it sold 50k, but more than that.
And that should be accurate since YSO predicted 60k for SN6 Vita version and no numbers for the PS4 were shared. The PS4 SKU was behind Zelda according to them.
And this should match with the 50-100k assumption.

I was quoting zeromcd73 not you, and he made his statement based on gamesmaya report, that's all

I just think that before saying "omg that game was a failure/bomba/disaster" we should at least wait wednesday and official numbers, not reports or suppositions which mean nothing

Failure is stretching it, but no harm trying to predict in what ballpark could be the sales with the first indications (YSO and GamesMaya here), for example it is very likely SN6 will be down from SN5 FW.

A couple of mobile notes:

1.) We're now one week away from the launch of Miitomo, Nintendo's first mobile effort.

2.) Puzzle & Dragons is currently sitting at #9 on the top grossing charts. I think we can safely say it's moved from industry phenomenon to hit mobile game. Even a game from a South Korean publisher is sitting higher in Japan's very local centric market.

3.) Monthly mobile gaming spend average per paying user in Japan, with orange being 2015 and blue being 2014: https://mobile.twitter.com/serkantoto/status/707795842795761664

The Division is being quite exposed at Bic Camera. One interesting thing is that Call of Duty is moving some units, also.
Takarajima Stores had received stock for some games: Mario and Sonic, Rhythm Heaven and The Division. They push their clients to buy the games, especially the latter, because there are few units. They also had a little re-stock for Wii U Premium Set, and Splatoon amiibo.

I suspect there's quite the audience overlap between CoD and The Division.

Why new stock for Rhythm Heaven, though? Anything special happened recently or just "regular" restock?

1. Not expecting much from that one, it's the later ones that I'm expecting more.

2. Gacha games have an end state where it just loses their appeal. Getting a super duper uber evolution didn't have the cache of getting a super duper evolution a half year to year ago.

3. The other thing I don't see enough of about mobage, is how effective they're pushing at other merchandise, since the games are so ubiquitous. I think these games are much better merchandise drivers than traditional console games.

On a slight tangential topic, its going to be interesting to see how Fire Emblem evolves from here out as the "west" now has become a major market for the brand.

Nintendo's had a lot of Japan to West transitions and unexpected but major growths in several brands this generation. Tomodachi Life, Fire Emblem has grown by leaps and bounds, Bravely Default (+Square) and even Monster Hunter (+Capcom).

Splatoon obviously doesn't count.

The Level-5 iOS curse continues.

Fantasy Life 2 beta test has been delayed. Wanting to 'brush up' the quality of the game.
For all the flack mobile games get, it's actually quite difficult to make good titles and there are clear tastes and preferences in the market.

I get the sense that Square Enix really wants people to feel this is still a gigantic franchise deserving of great attention.

This is likely especially difficult in Japan given that FF13 came out 7 years ago, and FF12 was 11 years ago. The entire teenage audience has become college or working adults that might not be using consoles anymore, and the college and adult age audience might have worked up into middle management at a long hours company and/or have families and be too time pressed to play.

That's not to say this applies to all Japanese people by any means, but I do feel that's still much more of a problem in the region for them than in the West (where the adults are still using consoles en masse, but have notably different tastes than a decade ago).

And of course the game itself doesn't really resemble either title to boot. It's not clear to me what exact audience the new direction is supposed to appeal to since it tries to blend global and local trends into something that doesn't feel like it really fits either the domestic or global market.

.

They seem very confident in the game. With XIII they had to hide the linear nature of the game up until release, they were so ashamed of XIV that they rebuilt it.

If XV is as good as advertised it should wash away the taste of XIII from peoples mouth and get them excited about Final Fantasy (and Square Enix) again. Especially with KH3 and DQ11 coming up next year.

Some big expectations for MHS, I see.

Honestly, I think it will have trouble reaching 1 million copies.

Yeah I may have to lower my prediction on that one a bit, but my initial thought process was that Monster Hunter + Tradition RPG Elements = Big sales. I think it will easily pass 1 million though.

Why are people predicting a 2+ million year for 3DS exactly? What will release that will help hold the 3DS that well compared to last year? Pretty sure neither Pokemon nor Yo-Kai Watch will do enough for that.

just because this year 3ds sold -200k compared to last year same frame time
just because last year 3ds sold 2,1mln

price-drop will help

You forgot the most important aspect of the game: + Kids

MHS is not targeting the usual MH audience (male young adults), with this product Capcom wants to reel in a younger demographic, and we know they are not really the best at doing that.
