King of Fighters XIV Full Roster Leak (with character pics)

Do the Mai teaser trailer already!

Totally! Those jiggle physics better be good.
Who is the girl to the right of Mai? Havent seen her before.
I also wonder if that boss will fight with a cigar in his mouth? I havent played a game with a smoker character since Mass effect 3.

We have any indication to the level of content in this game? That roster looks great. Really great. But I'm not a competitive player and get most of my enjoyment out of completing ridiculous story modes and whatnot.

Really hoping there's substantial offline content

No Yamazaki (AGAIN!), no buy.

Good to see Geese though.

We don't know how substantial it will be but they did mention in an interview that single player content is one of the focuses for XIV since they know that many fans like the series for the story/characters.

Oh well. Lack of team Elizabeth means lack of interest for me personally, but I'm glad to see everyone so hyped. Hope it turns out well.

I hope the south american team has a good moveset.

Is Ralf the Ikari Team leader now? Every other team leader is on the left.

Technically, even when he's not playable, they're all just taking orders from Heidern.

In any case, i don't think the ones in the left are "leaders", im pretty sure Chin is the leader of the Psycho Soldiers, Athena is just the face.

I don't get the love for Elizabeth, her design are nice/waifu material, but the moveset/super are just lazy, boring and uninspiring.

Chick dress as jockey, horse whips with sparkly magic bullshit (with horrendous soundfx)

Not saying she is the worst KOF character tho...that would be Nameless, emo dude with 'Falcoon dual tone hair color fetish'.

...IMO

Looks awesome, but I kind of feel a little bad for SNK that the whole thing got leaked. Not that they were going for the dumb 12 month troll shenanigans that Capcom did, but it has to sting a tiny bit. I'm getting Laura vibes from one of the SA chicks, can't wait to see how she plays.

I'm most hyped for the Another World & SA characters right now, at least until that Whip DLC.

Agreed. I can understand the disappointment with the lack of Vanessa or Shingo, or Yamazaki (it's been said before there are so many awesome SNK characters there's ALWAYS going to be that "Why is *character* not in?". What gets me is the whole "Welp, my ONE favorite character is not in, gotta pass up the whole game" attitude. I'm super stoked by who's there and even really eager to try out the newcomers, I'm practically salivating!

Day 1.

Honestly can't wait for this game. I was leery when it was first announced, but the more I see it the more I'm hopeful this could be successful.

I need more SamSho and another vs. game!

I understand it. This is a game where you have to learn three characters. There might be tons of characters I like using, but without characters that I LOVE, it's difficult to motivate myself to put that much work into playing the game.

3 v 3 takes a lot of dedication, and it helps when "that" character is in, whoever it might be, for whoever is saying it.

For me, those characters are Angel, May Lee, Geese, and Eiji. As much as I loved the gameplay of KoF13, I felt like I was playing it just because I knew it was good over playing it because I enjoyed playing it. Eventually I did stop playing because even though the gameplay is solid, I didn't care about any of the characters, so it wasn't as fun for me as I knew it could be.

Someday, Vanessa. Someday, you'll make your triumphant return. I'm puzzled by the lack of any of the new characters from the Ash Saga. I loved Elisabeth :(

I'm liking the full roster. I'm curious to see how that Boss character plays... if he's the next rugal... i'll be shocked.

That's good to hear. Thanks for the reply.

I don't feel as bad for this leak as I did for the KI one, or the Laura leak. SNK is so good about making "seeing" the characters an integral part of their creations, that just knowing a face is more hype-inflating than hype-reducing. I now look forward to some of the new characters even more than I did before.

I really liked Elizabeth in XI. Her ability to chain 2 command normals in a row felt great, and there aren't many mature, straight-laced women like her in the series. King is the closest, most others are more fun loving, maniacal, outwardly sexy, flirty, etc. I think there's clearly a place for her, but I don't mind seeing her sit this game out. She has been in XI, XII, and XIII right in a row.

What's good about seeing a character sit out a KoF is that it opens space for another similar take to exist... and then it's time to hope they meet in another iteration / via DLC, so we can see their personalities mesh and clash. I'd rather get 2 characters that fill my love for someone like Yamazaki, rather than having him take the spot, keeping other Yakuza / Cooly-Evil types from showing up at all.

I really hope to get new favorites out of this cast. New characters that can contend with the classics I've loved for years. There's gonna be SO MANY PEOPLE to try out and play in this game, it should feel fantastic.

besides, they're holding Yamazaki back for Garou 2 so that Krushnood can kick his Butt.

The lineup looks really good so far, a lot of faces I didn't expect to see, as well as a surprising amount of new ones.

Speaking of which, I see a lot of characters here that are suppose to be dead within the official continuity. Is this game part of the ongoing story, or one of those Dream Match titles where anyone can appear?

Sometimes I think there's a threshold for familiarity that sequels have to meet in order to reinvigorate our interest. It's personal and probably different for every game, tbh.

This actually was a huge problem for me with Xrd because literally every character I wanted didn't make the initial roster for some reason (Jam, Baiken, Dizzy, Anji, Bridget, Zappa, A.B.A). No one else really appealed to me, either, so I ended up just sitting out and waiting for Revelator.

On the other hand, none of my favorites in KoF ever seem to stay for long (lol) so I'm less bummed about it here due to Stockholm Syndrome or something. RIP Xiangfei, Chizuru, Chris, Bao, May Lee, Malin, Ash, etc.

XIV is the start of a new story arc, it's not a dream match.

Word is though that the boss has the ability to pull characters from any point in time and universe. That's how someone like Nakoruru can be part of the roster.

So essentially, if true, the 'dream match' aspect has become cannon within the new story.

You seem to like a lot of the KOF specific new characters so I'm sure you'll find new characters to enjoy from the 12+ brand new ones in XIV. Personally I always really look forward to the series' original characters.

The new character for the prison team reminds me of Charles Manson. Chang and Choi are career criminals but he looks like a psychopath.

IseeWhatYouDidThere.jpg - But the fact that a Garou 2 CAN actually happen now, within SNKP's current direction is actually a great reason to hold characters like him back, in all reality. Then bring the new version of him into KoF later.

A girl who tries to emulate Terry, huh.

So she's basically the Sakura equivalent to Ryu, but in this case it's for Terry Bogard? Interesting.

But she was initially conceived as a Student to Kim, also! So she's got an even wider pool to draw potential fangirl moves from.

I want to think of her as more Shingo like than Sakura, but we'll see how this works out. Would totally be there for a Buster Hou'ou Kyaku.

The only people there who should be dead are Vice and Mature. Geese didn't die in the KoF line ever. Tung died in the FF OVAs, but that doesn't count here! :)

And now we might have an in-canon revive button for those outside the Orochi circles... should be fun times ahead.

I love the idea that Chang and Choi are weak-willed enough to ALWAYS turn into someone's henchmen. They're a pretty refreshing take on the Horizontal and Vertical guy antagonist that are common in many Japanese works. Always led about, never leaders...

Well it's somewhat crazier than that. Alice was supposed to appear and replace Mai as early as Fatal Fury 3 as a student of Kim's. It's only recent years that she's been the "Sexy Terry Fangirl"

No idea how she's going to play.

She's also a nurse and is into gymnastics.

The character definitely has potential.

I'm glad that they are back to being prisoners/villains, that angle has more substance than just being Kim's punching bags.

This has also put Kim into a fresh new set up as well. We are used to seeing him as the master but now his master+wife change things up nicely and he is in a more student-like position.

Aren't Vice and Mature still dead? And they are just ghosts or figments of Iori's imagination or something? Been a while since I've seen the KOFXIII ending...

From that wiki I took away that Alice (Terry fan) and Alice Chrysler (Kim student) are two different people?

The one that is Kim's student has already been seen in various places like Kim's FF ending & the Korea stage in KOF2K2 UM.

I guess we'll really find out if they're both the same when they reveal how Alice plays.

They're spirits that still roam the mortal realm. I think Goenitz is going through the same thing in the Maximum Impact storyline.

I get what you're saying, because I play 2002 more than 98 because of Whip and Vanessa, despite 98 feeling like a much more pure game. But you gotta give new characters a shot. With 50 characters, if there's nobody for you then you're too picky.

Or she's the female equivalent of Shingo.

lol wow, this is... something. With better leveling it could have been a lot better.

Do we actually know that or is it speculation based on the story being seemingly China-focused? Because jfc that story needs to actually go somewhere for the first time in literally over a decade ==

This was part of a leak that emerged last month (which can be found in the other topic), where some of the other details went as follows:

- Dragon Spirit arc involves the new China team ("demon boy, pillow child, Tung Fu Rue")

So, whatever is going on here will likely circle up with Kensou and Ron, too. Considering the Dragon Power and Flying Brigands arcs were things that were largely snuck into the NESTs storyline without some portions of the team communicating with each other, it's nice that it may get to FINALLY get to take center stage.

Ah but he IS a DINOSAUR; A LUCHADOR DINOSAUR
HOW DO YOU NOT SEE HOW AWESOME THAT IS?

This is the correct answer.
